Who is Vanessa Marcil engaged to?
January 2nd, 2007 under Engaged?. [ Comments: 1 ]

General Hospital Emmy winner turned Las Vegas head-turner Vanessa Marcil got engaged on New Year’s Eve, TVGuide.com has learned exclusively. Here, however, is where things get a bit quirky: Marcil isn’t confirming who popped the question. What this reporter does know is that two bridal showers are already in the works — one in NYC, the other in London. Who might Marcil’s lucky, lucky betrothed be? When last we officially spoke, she was being squired by Ben Younger, the writer-director of the Uma Thurman-Meryl Streep comedy Prime. But again, the actress — who has a son by Brian Austin Green, and at one fleeting time was wed to a circa-Dream a Little Dream Corey Feldman — isn’t saying. Perhaps more importantly, how does this factor into the New Year’s resolution Vanessa shared with me just this past Thursday?

I hope it is Ben Younger!!! He is a cutie!

Olivia Newton-John hopelessy devoted to 2 Grease episodes
January 2nd, 2007 under Olivia Newton-John, TV Reality. [ Comments: none ]

It was announced today during a press call about the upcoming NBC reality show that film star Olivia Newton-John had agreed to appear on the first two episodes of the show. Also during the call, director Kathleen Marshall revealed that the Broadway production will be the first to use a blend of material from the film and the stage show including the first live performance of songs like "You’re The One That I Want" and "Hopelessly Devoted." The script she stated, will likely be closer to the Broadway script, than the film script. It’s hoped that other Grease alumni will make appearances throughout the show’s run as audience members or to reminisce about their times in the show. "You’re the One That I Want," produced by David Ian, will center on the search for stars on an upcoming Broadway revival of Grease, directed and choreographed by Kathleen Marshall. After the first two hour-and-a-half-long episodes air on NBC on January 7th and 14th, "You’re the One That I Want" will be seen weekly on that channel on Sunday nights in hour installments (check local listings). Bravo will re-air the episodes on Tuesdays at 6:30 PM, Wednesdays at 12 AM and Thursdays at 11 PM (check local listings). In addition, a number of Grease stars – from the original stage production, the last Broadway revival, the film version and its sequel Grease 2 – will make guest appearances on the reality show. The line-up includes Barry Bostwick (original Danny Zuko on Broadway), Jeff Conaway (Danny replacement in the original run and Kenickie in the film), Marilu Henner (Marty replacement in original run), Lucy Lawless (Rizzo replacement in Broadway revival), and Adrian Zmed (Danny replacement in original run and revival, and Johnny in Grease 2). Jai Rodriguez ("Queer Eye…," Rent, Zanna Don’t) and Tony Award-winner Marissa Jaret Winokur (Hairspray) will also appear as guests. "You’re the One That I Want," will be, as previously announced, co-hosted by "Access Hollywood"’s co-anchor Billy Bush and West End theatre and British TV star Denise Van Outen (Chicago, Tell Me on a Sunday). The new production of Grease will open on Broadway in June 2007 and will be directed and choreographed by two-time Tony Award-winner Marshall (The Pajama Game). Paul Nicholas and David Ian Associates, Nederlander Presentations and Phoenix Productions will produce. Jim Jacobs, the co-creator of Grease, along with Marshall and renowned theatre producer David Ian are set as judges on "You’re the One That We Want."

Beyonce’ might go without any Oscar nom?
January 2nd, 2007 under Beyoncé, Dreamgirls, Oscars. [ Comments: none ]

You can not only forget about Beyonce Knowles winning an Oscar for best actress this year. Now it looks like Beyonce won’t win as a songwriter either — for "Listen," one of the original new tunes added to the original Broadway score. Officially, she’s listed as one of the song’s four writers, but the motion-picture academy only permits three names — max — as a credit. To see the specific language of its Rule 16 — CLICK HERE! The Oscars’ songwriting branch has decided to qualify Henry Krieger, Anne Preven and Scott Cutler. No explanation is given for why Beyonce is excluded over the others. Is this just one of those cases of where the singer insisted upon having her name added to credits as part of her performance deal? Beyonce says "No!" In media interviews, she’s often said that she was truly involved in its songwriting. Apparently, not to the extent as her three collaborators.

G-d I would hate to be her people and the movie people right now because you know her dad is ripping them a new one.

Someone actually paid George Michael £1.5 million for a private NYE show!
January 2nd, 2007 under George Michael. [ Comments: none ]

Singer George Michael has pocketed £1.5 million for performing at a Russian billionaire’s New Year’s Eve bash. The unnamed businessman paid for Michael to entertain his 300 guests with an hour-long concert. The lavish party took place on his private estate 20 miles outside Moscow, the star’s spokeswoman said. The £1.5 million sum is believed to make Michael the highest paid entertainer in modern Russian history. He was flown out to the billionaire’s mansion with his 20-strong entourage of band and backing singers. An insider said: "The businessman contacted George directly and asked him to perform. "He has a vast private estate just outside Moscow and had turned his sports hall into a nightclub especially for the party. "It was a fun night and George was back home in Britain by morning." Other stars who have picked up big cheques include Christina Aguilera, reportedly paid £1 million for performing three songs at the wedding of Russian oligarch Andrei Melnichenko in September 2005.

The Press Association

That is so crazy, I wish I had money to blow (no pun intended) like that. I guess George Mchael needs the money for his upcoming court date for being declared unfit to drive
