Joan Collins has seen enough of Britney’s privates. And Lindsay’s. And Paris’. Collins says it’s "disgusting" how Spears, Lohan and Hilton are going out in miniskirts without panties, knowing very well that the paparazzi will take their pictures. She says it’s "really sad that young women today need to flaunt" their privates to get attention. Collins says they’ve already shown "their front bits," so "where’s it all going to end?" Collins is out with a beauty and fashion book called "The Art of Living Well:" Looking Good, Feeling Great."

Jessica Simpson and John Mayer hope to make beautiful music together. The on-again-off-again couple is planning to record a duet, according to Life & Style Weekly. Former reality show star Simpson asked Mayer to croon with her for the soundtrack to her new movie, “Blonde Ambition,” reports the mag, and he agreed. “Jessica has high hopes for the movie,” an insider told L&S. “They’re still denying they’re even dating. So of course they’re going to deny they’re recording a song together.”

Is Tom Cruise the ultimate Scientology recruiter? |
December 13th, 2006 under Tom Cruise/Katie Holmes/Suri. [ Comments: none ]

A LOT of people were scratching their heads when they saw Jennifer Lopez and Jim Carrey among the guests at Tom Cruise’s wedding to Katie Holmes last month in Italy, wondering what the possible connection could be. Some assumed it was the super-agency CAA, which reps both Cruise and Carrey and used to handle J.Lo. But insiders say the mystery link among the superstars is actually the Church of Scientology. "Jim is taking the introductory and beginner’s courses right now," a source told Page Six. Another source notes that Lopez, a close friend of Scientologist Leah Remini, "has started using Scientology phrases and explains the church to people. Leah and Jennifer have been friends for years, and Leah has always talked to her about the church without pressuring her. "We can see Scientology appealing to Jennifer because, in the early stages, it is a lot of self-help." However, Lopez’s husband, Marc Anthony, is a devout Catholic and is probably resistant to Scientology, which believes in space aliens but not a God. Some observers speculate that Lopez, who has had trouble conceiving in the past, could be leaning to the Scientologists for help in having a baby. Reps for Lopez said, "I have no knowledge of this, but I probably wouldn’t have a comment on it if I did." A mouthpiece for Carrey insisted, "He is not taking classes." Meanwhile, Hollywood bigwigs were awed at a display of "sheer rudeness" by Cruise at the premiere of "The Pursuit of Happyness" in Hollywood the other night. Sony chief Amy Pascal "was introducing the movie, and during her speech Tom gets up, goes over to Will [Smith] and starts talking to him – and then says, ‘Hey, Katie! Come over here and say hi to Will!’ during Amy’s speech. It was in bad taste." A rep for Cruise declined comment. Scientology seems to be drawing more and more celebrity interest by the minute. Other noted church followers include Kirstie Alley, John Travolta, Anne Archer, Chick Corea, Isaac Hayes and Priscilla Presley.

Larry the Cable gets animated for Comedy Central |
December 13th, 2006 under Comedy Central. [ Comments: none ]

Larry the Cable Guy is set to get animated for Comedy Central. The cable network has ordered a half-hour animated pilot starring the "Blue Collar" comedian, who is the co-creator and co-writer of the still-untitled project. Larry will star as a misguided but well-intentioned co-owner of a cable TV station whose other owner is a woman of class and taste who does not share his vision for programming, preferring instead a more traditional station lineup to Larry’s experimental, half-baked show ideas. As can be expected, they seldom agree on anything. Creator-writers Larry, Joel Cohen and Alec Sokolow will also serve as executive producers. The pilot marks a continuation of Larry’s successful relationship with Comedy Central, which aired the network TV premiere of the film "Blue Collar Comedy Tour: The Movie," drawing more than 2 million viewers in November 2003. The premieres of the network’s "Blue Collar Comedy Tour Rides Again" (February 2005) and "Blue Collar Comedy Tour: One for the Road" (in June) drew 6.1 million and 5.3 million viewers, respectively, ranking the programs as the Nos. 3 and 5 most-watched programs in Comedy Central’s history. Larry also recently taped a one-hour, stand-up special for Comedy Central that will premiere in the summer. "I am very excited about this animated project," Larry said. "Comedy Central has always been good to me, and I thank them for giving me the opportunity once again to live up to their low expectations."
Hollywood Reporter
First Bill Engvall got a series and now Larry the Cable Guy got one…you know that Jeff Foxworthy is getting a little bit jealous.
