An anonymous source told the Bloody Disgusting Web site that the proposed sequel film Poltergeist: Kayeri has been shelved in favor of a shot-for-shot remake of the original 1982 film. "I’ve just received official confirmation that the original idea for Kayeri will not be used for the remake," the source said. "Instead, the new film will be a straight-up remake of the first film. Pretty much frame-for-frame. Just think Hills Have Eyes." According to the site, screenwriter Clint Morris, who wrote the script for Poltergeist: Kayeri, will not be involved in the new project. The source also confirmed that original cast members Craig T. Nelson, JoBeth Williams and Zelda Rubinstein will not appear in the remake. The original Poltergeist, produced by Steven Spielberg and directed by Tobe Hooper, centered on a family who moves into a new housing development and discovers that their home is built over an ancient burial ground inhabited by angry spirits. The film spawned two theatrical sequels and a television series, which ran from 1996 to 1999.
Sci Fi Wire
Considering the Poltergeist series was cursed, no way in hell could you get me to do that movie. And why does it need to be remade? The movie is scary enough on it’s own, why does new Hollywood feel the need to ruin it. Did they not learn anything from Revenge of the Nerds?

Trouble already in TomKat’s Paradise? |

It’s been less than two weeks since Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes’ Italian wedding, but it seems that trouble is already brewing in the couple’s marital life. It seems that the couple have not only started fighting after the wedding, but were also having a go at each other before they tied the knot. As for what caused all those problems, it seems that the first thing the couple fought about was where they would be spending their honeymoon. They apparently changed venues five times before settling on the Maldives. The next thing that caused trouble in paradise was Tom whisking his new wife away straight after the reception – when the 27-year old Batman really wanted to spend time with her parents. After that it was the Best Man and bodyguards that had Katie upset, for the entourage was not only present for the wedding, but also tagged along for the couple’s honeymoon. A source revealed that though Holmes had had the wedding of her dreams, she certainly hadn’t been prepared for what was to come. “Katie had a dream wedding, but she wasn’t expecting what followed,” The Sun quoted the source, as saying. Cruise and Holmes swapped vows in a Scientology ceremony on November 18 at a 15th century castle on Lake Bracciano, Italy. The wedding was attended by 150 of the couple’s guests, including Hollywood heavyweights Will and Jada Pinkett Smith, Brooke Shields and Chris Henchy, Victoria Beckham, Leah Remini, Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony among others.

Troy Gentry pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge on Monday morning (Nov. 27) in Duluth, Minn., in a case involving his killing of a captive bear in 2004. Gentry’s plea indicated that he killed the captive bear as a trophy, then falsely registered it as a wild bear. He paid a $15,000 fine, forfeited the bear’s hide and the bow he used to kill the bear. He is also not allowed to hunt, fish or trap in Minnesota for five years. In exchange for his guilty plea, felony charges against Gentry for possessing illegally registered wildlife were dropped.

Lily Allen forgets the lyrics to her song on stage |

She’s only 21 so her memory should be pretty sharp but last night Lily Allen had to stop a concert performance mid-flow because she forgot the lyrics to one of her own songs. Help fortunately was at hand in the somewhat unusual form of Google, the internet search engine. While Allen struggled to remember the words, a member of her entourage logged on to a backstage computer, "Googled" the song and printed off the lyrics so she could resume. "She performed her first number without any problems, but when it came to the second track Everything’s Just Wonderful, she just got stuck," said one concert goer at Islington’s Union Chapel. "She just said something like, ‘Sorry, I can’t remember it. I’ll have another go later’. She seemed mildly embarrassed but quite jovial. "Then she sent someone off for the lyrics and launched into a different song. About five minutes later the assistant came back and handed her a couple of sheets of paper with the lyrics on. She sang Everything’s Just Wonderful from the lyric sheets." According to some audience members, Allen, one of Britain’s brightest young stars with a No 1 selling single, Smile, and a best-selling album, Alright, Still already in the bag, appeared a little "dazed" at the concert. It may be because she was being watched by fellow performers Chris Martin of Coldplay, James Morrison and members of The Automatic. Her father Keith Allen, the actor and comedian, was also in the audience. There may have been added pressure because, it transpires, her parents were married in the building 25 years ago.
