Is this why J-Lo was at TomKat’s wedding?
November 30th, 2006 under J-Lo, Tom Cruise/Katie Holmes/Suri. [ Comments: none ]

ennifer Lopez is turning to the teachings of Scientology in an effort to become a mum, according to new US reports. The Maid In Manhattan star, who recently attended the Italian wedding of top celebrity Scientologist Tom Cruise, is reportedly taking tips from actress Leah Remini, who used the religion’s doctrines when she was trying to conceive her first child. According to American publication Life & Style, Lopez became interested in Scientology when Remini confided in her that the religion helped her conceive. An insider tells the publication, "She’s starting to understand the cleansing process. It’s all about putting the positive energy where you want it." The source insists Lopez and her husband Marc Anthony are unlikely to join the church because he’s a devout Catholic, but "he’s willing to let Jen do what she needs to make things happen."

Nicole Richie gained 5 pounds
November 30th, 2006 under Nicole Richie. [ Comments: none ]

It’s only been a month since Nicole Richie announced she was seeking treatment for her inability to gain weight, but friends are noticing a difference, PEOPLE reports in its upcoming issue. "She has (put on) at least 5 lbs.," says a source close to the actress. "She wants to prove she’s trying to change." The newly brunette Richie has even "distanced herself from a lot of (old) friends," adds the source. Among those old friends is Rachel Zoe, 35, Richie’s stylist for the past three years, with whom Richie split last week Richie, who before seeking treatment had dropped to around 90 lbs., hit the American Music Awards last week in a short vintage Christian Dior dress with the help of new style consultant Cristina Ehrlich looking "much healthier," said an onlooker. Now she’s ready to shoot the fifth installment of her reality show The Simple Life, which was postponed due to her treatment. Says her on-again pal and Simple Life costar Paris Hilton: "She looks better than she’s ever looked. I love it." So, it would seem, does Richie. "She’s doing great," says a friend who spoke to her over Thanksgiving. "She’s taking care of herself and is in a good place."

I am not sure I see it, do you? I mean it took her a month to gain 5 pounds when I think I did that on Thanksgiving? But at least she is trying.

He-Man no longer the Master of the film Universe?
November 30th, 2006 under 80s, Mattel, Movies. [ Comments: none ]

More crushing news for those who have been fretfully waiting the golden-haired swordsman’s exultant return to cinemas – he might not be. Yup, seems Fox2000’s proposed film version of “He-Man and the Masters of the Universe” may have gone the way of “Batman Vs. Superman”, “Broadway Brawler” and “The Crusades” – swallowed by a black hole with an appetite for languishing film projects. It seems the film version of the popular 80s toon is essentially dead. Executive Producer Rodney Ferrell (“Flicka”), of Fox2000 pics, tells Moviehole that they’ve just literally just wiped their hands clean of the property. “This was a project set up at Fox”, begins Ferrell, “but in the recent months we gave the project back to Mattel and are no longer involved”. The film had John Woo attached as a producer and Adam Rifkin (“Underdog”) attached as the writer. Fox2000 were set to produce and distribute the movie. Its been a long and tumultuous journey for the “He-Man” pic – its been delayed multiple times, has seen several writers come and go (They were unsure about Rifkin’s script too – suggesting another writer may have even been approached before the project left Fox’s hands), and seemingly had to wait until a space cleared in the ever-so-busy calendar of producer, Woo. (The studio even tried to coax Woo into directing at one stage). Mattel may still be interested in making a “He-Man” film – and it may still involve Woo’s company, LionsRock – but the book’s now closed on this incarnation.

Dang, that movie could’ve have been great cheese!

Pete Doherty the undeserving icon of the year
November 30th, 2006 under Pete Doherty/Kate Moss. [ Comments: none ]

Rock star Pete Doherty has been voted the most "undeserving icon" of the year in a men’s magazine survey. Some 1,000 readers of Arena voted the Babyshambles singer, 27, as the personality least worthy of their celebrity status in an online poll. Doherty is rarely out of the headlines thanks to his high-profile relationship with model Kate Moss and his battle against drug addiction. Comedian and radio presenter Russell Brand came second in the list. Readers said Brand’s status was over-hyped. Syed Ahmed, contestant on BBC Two series The Apprentice, came third. The other celebrites listed in the top ten included film star Tom Cruise, chef Gordon Ramsey, Razorlight frontman Johnny Borrell, comedian Jimmy Carr and Bob Geldof’s daughter Peaches. "We asked our readers to pick those people who have consumed the headlines and defined the last year for all the wrong reasons," said Arena editor William Drew. "Pete Doherty was voted the anti-icon of the year with 38% of the vote thanks to his drug habit which has popularised junkie chic and earned him an almost cult following. "This comes despite overwhelmingly mediocre music and less than inspiring live performances," he added.

That was a no brainer.
