Madonna’s adopted son’s father denies the HIV+ claims
October 29th, 2006 under Madonna. [ Comments: none ]

The father of Madonna’s adopted orphan has dismissed as a lie the singer’s claim on TV that his wife and other children died of AIDS. Yohane Banda, 32, whose wife died aged 25 after giving birth to 13-month-old David, says he will now have to live with the stigma. The African peasant farmer also denied the superstar’s allegation that he had never visited his son at the orphanage, to which he was entrusted at the age of two weeks. Speaking on the Oprah Winfrey Show last week, Madonna, 48, said when she met David at the orphanage in Malawi she was told his mother and three siblings had died of AIDS, while his father’s whereabouts were unknown. But Mr Banda, who lives in the village of Lipunga, close to the border with Zambia, said: "She never went for an HIV test and she died in Zambia at her parents’ house, so how could anyone know if that is what she died of?" The clinic she attended when she became ill during pregnancy had diagnosed anaemia, he added. Later, when she was admitted to hospital in Malawi, he was told she had a physical condition that made childbirth very risky. Mr Banda insisted he had two other children – not three as Madonna was told – one of whom had died of malaria, while the other died suddenly at 18 months from an unknown cause. Neither was HIV positive as far as he knew. Mr Banda said he was worried that if people believed Madonna’s claims, they would stigmatise him. In the TV interview, Madonna said David had been abandoned by his family. "No one from his extended family had visited him since he arrived," she told Oprah. But Mr Banda insisted this was also "a lie", adding: "I visited David many times, too many to count." The baby was also visited by his grandmother, while Mr Banda’s brother, Profera, "saw him almost every day, sometimes twice a day". Despite his anger at the slurs, Mr Banda refused to blame Madonna and instead accused the orphanage of giving her "false information". However, an official at the Home of Hope Orphan Care Centre insisted: "We gave her no such information," and instead pointed the finger at Malawi’s Ministry of Gender and Child Welfare. Meanwhile, although David has been in the UK for less than two weeks, Madonna has introduced him to her Kabbalah faith. The move is likely to upset Mr Banda, who was told his son was going to "a very nice Christian lady". Madonna took the toddler to the Friday night Shabat ceremony at the Central London Kabbalah Centre, and invited other children to "come and play with baby David". The boy even wore the Kabbalah red string bracelet, believed by followers to ward off evil spirits.

Paul McCartney and Heather Mills get together to celebrate Bea’s birthday!
October 28th, 2006 under Paul McCartney/Heather Mills. [ Comments: none ]

Sir Paul McCartney and his estranged wife, Heather Mills McCartney, put their acrimonious divorce proceedings to one side yesterday as they celebrated their daughter’s third birthday. Sir Paul and Lady McCartney spent two hours together at the Clambers activity play centre in Hastings, East Sussex, where they hosted a party for their daughter, Beatrice. It is thought to be the first time the couple have met since a secret "crisis meeting" eight weeks ago at Sir Paul’s American holiday home in the Hamptons, Long Island. A source at the play centre said: "They came here and had a lovely time and their daughter had a lovely day. All the guests took away yellow balloons and party bags." One mother who took her son to the centre said: "Bea looked lovely in her pink party dress. If I did not know what had been going on in their marriage in the past few months I would never have known. Bea was laughing and smiling, like any other child having a whale of a time on their birthday." Yesterday’s united front followed yet another turbulent week for the couple, whose divorce proceedings have rarely been out of the headlines since they announced their separation in May. Last week it emerged that 15 audio tapes recorded by Sir Paul’s first wife, Linda, allegedly contain devastating accounts of their 29-year marriage, regarded as one of the strongest in show business. Sources close to Lady McCartney have told The Sunday Telegraph that she is prepared to walk away from the marriage for "just £10 million". The 38-year-old former model was previously thought to be seeking a settlement of up to £200 million, while Sir Paul, worth an estimated £825 million, is said to have offered his wife a £30 million settlement that she had turned down. However, an insider blamed Sir Paul’s refusal to make any kind of offer for the deadlock. "What has really hurt Heather are reports that she has refused offers of £30 million and is going for £100 million," the source said. "It is simply not true. She is looking for more like £10 million – that has always been the figure in her head – and she is now willing to walk away from everything and get on with her life if she is offered a reasonable sum." A spokesman for Sir Paul, 64, declined to comment.

The Daily Telegraph

There were rumors they cancelled the party because the two did not want to be in the same room, it is good to see they got over that for Bea’s sake!

Mötley Crüe’s Nikki Sixx launches a fashion line!
October 28th, 2006 under Mötley Crüe, Music. [ Comments: none ]

The hotly anticipated high fashion men’s line Royal Underground is poised to hit stores early November, finally sealing the void in the market for sleek yet edgy men’s clothing. In a collaboration that is unprecedented in the worlds of fashion and entertainment, legendary rock star Nikki Sixx has joined forces with former St John CEO Kelly Gray to launch Royal Underground, which is destined to re-set the bar on of-the-moment, high end menswear. The debut holiday 2006 collection features the kind of elements that would be expected when the seemingly divergent worlds of fashion and hardcore rock collide: dark jeans that are hand-cut and embellished, cashmere sweaters are deliciously soft to the touch and tiny details are scattered throughout, like little secrets waiting to be revealed. These might include jacket linings inscribed with the lyrics from a beloved Mötley Crüe ballad, or a cheeky coat-of-arms. The price points are reflective of the quality of the collection, ranging from $100 for T-shirts to $1,200 for the jackets. They won’t have to wait much longer. The collection bows during the first week of November at select Neiman-Marcus, Bloomingdale’s, and Nordstrom stores nationwide, as well as speciality boutiques like M. Frederic in Southern California and Boogies in Aspen.

First Tommy Lee and now Nikki Sixx, I can’t wait to see what Vince Neil comes up with! To be honest, I actually like some of the stuff from the Royal Underground line!
