Broadway welcomes American Idol’s losers |

There is an upside to getting kicked off "American Idol": Broadway may be interested. Constantine Maroulis is in the Broadway production of "The Wedding Singer," while Diana DeGarmo has just rejoined "Hairspray." And, Josh Strickland stars in "Tarzan" and Frenchie Davis is in "Rent." Maroulis said that he welcomes the challenge and he’s just trying to keep up right now. DeGarmo said she has "American Idol" fans coming to see her, and "Hairspray" fans who never saw her on television get to know what she can do. She said that she likes having a regular paycheck and the time to hit the studio to record her own music. Broadway casting agent Bernard Telsey said he requires his staff to watch "American Idol." "We basically root for the losers," Telsey said. "That means we can put them in a Broadway show."

I guess when Simon Cowell tells them they are "too Broadway", it is not a diss but a good thing!

Access Hollywood fires 14 employees while they were out for lunch |

RATINGS-challenged NBC put the ax to "Access Hollywood" this week and abruptly fired 14 veteran staffers by heartlessly locking them out of the building as they returned from lunch. "It was really awful. Their ID cards wouldn’t open the gate, and then a security guard came over and told them they were no longer employed there," one insider told Page Six. "Of course, the bosses waited until they’d finished producing the day’s show before canning them." Among the casualties were: senior field producer John Davis and field producers Jennifer Lavin, David Garner and Jason Miller, our source said. Segment producer Lizza Morales, who was also booted, did manage to get inside and confronted executive producer Rob Silverstein. But he refused to talk and referred her to the show’s lawyer, Claudia Eden. The Thursday afternoon bloodbath in Los Angeles was the two-pronged result of NBC’s ratings woes and the show being more than $1 million over budget, our spy went on. "And a few months ago, NBC found out there’d been excessive spending by some executives on partying, champagne and strip clubs. There were worries some people might be let go, but NBC said, ‘No, no, don’t worry!’ And then this happened." "Access Hollywood" spokesman Joe Schlosser laughed when we asked him about the bloodbath, then got serious and said: "It has never been easy to make adjustments to the staff." He added the firings were part of a "restructuring of the show," then asked us not to report he had chuckled. He said he was unaware that those fired had been locked out. Some staffers who got tossed did get one consolation – they got calls and e-mails from host Nancy O’Dell, who said how sorry she was. Weekend co-anchor Shaun Robinson was seen crying after she learned what was going on. The bloodbath is a further black eye for NBC chairman Bob Wright, whom Page Six reported is soon to be replaced. Other sources say the troubled Peacock Network will soon begin across-the-board layoffs.

That is some major FUS. Karma will bite them in the a$$ over this one.

Jennifer Love Hewitt’s problems with her new Ghost Whisperer clothing? |
September 23rd, 2006 under Jennifer Love Hewitt. [ Comments: none ]

Ghost Whisperer star Jennifer Love Hewitt has been ordered to cover up on the set of the TV show, because her outfits are too revealing. The actress regularly wears revealing shirts on the show but has been asked to tone things down when appearing in the same scenes as children. The former Party Of Five star was shocked when she watched tapes of the show and saw herself bending over to talk to her younger co-stars and showing more than she expected. She explains, "We’ve actually had to have a conversation about my tops for this coming season. I ended up in sort of inappropriate things sometimes while talking to ghost children. "We found it difficult and upsetting when we watched it back. I’d be like, ‘Are you OK?’ (leans over) and then there’s these things (breasts) and that’s not childlike at all. So we’ve fixed it this season!" Hewitt says she has to make the show sexy to get her younger male fans to tune in. She adds, "It’s part of ratings. You have to give the 14-year-old boys in America something to watch. If it’s just me talking to dead people, it’s not interesting to them at all!"

Maybe it is just me, but last night’s episode did not have the same feel as last year’s.

I hate to say it, but the only way she can remain in the competition is if she score in the top 3 by the judges. She doesn’t have the popular vote as seen by being in the bottom 2 for the first two weeks. I think she is better than some of the others, but that only gets you so far on DWTS.
