"Star Trek: Voyager"’s JERI RYAN revealed at the Pasadena press tour for her new CBS series, "Shark," that she definitely has something to be out of this world about. The 38-year-old beauty is engaged to beau CHRISTOPHE EMÉ. The two are partners in Ortolan, a restaurant where Emé is the chef.
"He brought me home, covered my eyes and took me up to the bedroom" she told reporters. "He had candles lit everywhere and champagne on ice. He had gotten this huge 4-foot by 3-foot canvas and painted it with words that said in French: ‘And you come with me forever. The romantic Emé also put a photograph of the two of them together at the bottom of the canvas with the words "Toi and Moi" [you and me in French].Ryan says that the wedding will probably be sometime next June in the Loire Valley of France, "That’s when the rugby World Cup is in Paris," she points out. "You know I am in love when I’m planning a wedding around a sporting event.Ryan’s 12-year-old son from a previous marriage will walk her down the aisle.

Part of me wonders if she is talking about her engagement at Press Tour and not the show, is the show that bad?

July 16th, 2006 under Avril Lavigne, Sum 41, Weddings. [ Comments: none ]

Pop star Avril Lavigne wed Sum 41 frontman Deryck Whibley at Villa Lilybelle, a private estate in Montecito, California, on Saturday afternoon.
The Catholic ceremony began at 5pm and lasted only 20 minutes. An orchestra played “The Wedding March” as Lavigne walked down the aisle on the arm of her father John.”Avril looked beautiful! Her hair was very bright blonde. Her dress was simple, but elegant,” a witness tells Us. After the groom kissed the bride, guests flung rose petals on the newlyweds as they traipsed up the aisle. “Attendees cheered with excitement, and were so stoked for the newlyweds,” says the witness.
Lavigne, 21, wore a Vera Wang custom-made ivory strapless tissue organza gown with wrapped bodice and appliqué lace beaded skirt. After the ceremony, the bride changed into a Vera Wang ivory strapless draped Chantilly lace gown. Lavigne’s bridesmaids wore Vera Wang draped petal pink crepe chiffon gowns. Whibley and his five groomsmen wore tuxes from the Boss Black collection by Hugo Boss. The wedding, coordinated by wedding planner to the stars Mindy Weiss, was outfitted with hundreds of white roses. The expansive pink Spanish villa featured a large pond complete with white swans. There were a little over 100 guests in attendance, mostly close friends and family (no celebrities). Both rockers hail from Ontario, Canada, and were friends for several years before they began dating in 2004. Whibley, 26, proposed to Lavigne in Venice, Italy, in June 2004 while she was on tour in Europe. It is the first marriage for both.
“I might look like a tough chick – and I am – but I’m also a hopeless romantic inside,” Lavigne has said.

Macca drops a bomb on Adopt-A-Minefield
July 15th, 2006 under Paul McCartney/Heather Mills. [ Comments: none ]

Paul McCartney has snubbed his estranged wife by pulling out of a major fundraising event for a charity campaign which she founded. The former Beatle has told the Adopt-A-Minefield campaign – which is closely linked with Heather Mills McCartney – that he will not honour a long-standing commitment to perform at the charity’s annual gala dinner. His decision will be seen by many as evidence that the McCartneys’ divorce is descending into acrimony. However, the couple’s friends insist they are getting on well and that Sir Paul, pictured left with Heather, did not want to overshadow the event The star has been the main attraction at the annual Adopt-A-Minefield Gala since the charity was formed in 2001. Immediately after the couple’s split was announced in May, he told Adopt-A-Minefield that he would still play at this year’s event at the luxury Beverly Hilton hotel in Los Angeles on October 11. Dozens of stars including Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones, Jack Nicholson, Kiefer Sutherland and Orlando Bloom paid £500 for tickets to see McCartney perform solo. But without Sir Paul, the stars may not turn up and that could mean the charity nets less than the £1.7million it made last year. The singer – who plans to make a six or seven-figure donation – said: "While I continue to be committed to Adopt-A-Minefield and its critical mission, given the current circumstances I will not be able to attend."

Madonna’s Note to Australian Fans

Posted: 13 July 2006

To my fans in Australia

Please forgive me. I really did hope and expect to come to Australia during the Confessions Tour and asked my managers to try to include some shows there. I have fond memories from previous tours.Unfortunately, the logistics just didn’t work out this time around. We looked into going from Japan to Australia and ending the show there but I have to get my kids back into school in England and they are, as you can understand, my most important priority. The important thing to remember is that I’m not retiring anytime soon and I am gonna get to Australia as soon as I can. You remain in my heart and Thank you for your continued love & support.

Love,
Madonna

Good for her for being a mother first, bad for Australia because the concert is amazing!

CSI expects to be dinged by Grey’s
July 15th, 2006 under CBS. [ Comments: none ]

"CSI" finished last season as the No. 1 drama on television, a position it’s held for several years running. Yet CBS chief Nina Tassler on Saturday said — with a straight face — that the show might not be the favorite in its timeslot in the fall. "Who would have thought ‘CSI’ would be the underdog?" she asked reporters at the Television Critics Association press tour. The cause of her angst is ABC’s "Grey’s Anatomy," which ABC has moved into the 9 p.m. Thursday timeslot that "CSI" has dominated for most of its time on the air. "Grey’s" is coming off a very strong second half of the season, which was fueled by a post-Super Bowl episode that grabbed better than 38 million viewers. While Tassler knows that two hit shows can co-exist — see "Survivor" and "Friends" or "American Idol" and "Lost" — "we expect to be dinged by ‘Grey’s’ a little bit," she says.
