‘Idol’ winner Studdard awarded $2M in suit

American Idol winner Ruben Studdard has been awarded $2 million in his lawsuit against his ex-manager for misappropriating the singer's money and credit cards.

Studdard, 26, of Birmingham, won the television talent show in 2003 and filed suit last year against ex-manager Ronald W. Edwards and Edwards' promotions company, Sez Inc.

Jefferson County Circuit Judge Scott Vowell on Thursday awarded Studdard $500,000 for his actual losses and another $1.5 million in punitive damages, The Birmingham News reported Thursday on its Web site.

Vowell dismissed Edwards' promotions company from the suit because it was bankrupt and had no assets. Edwards filed a petition for Chapter 7 bankruptcy on June 17, 2005.

The suit claimed Edwards misused more than $246,000 of the singer's money.

According to the judge's ruling, Edwards took money from Studdard's checking and other bank accounts, improperly used his credit cards and even used Studdard's money to repay a $10,000 bank loan.

Studdard has sold more than 2.2 million records, but the damage to his credit because of the fraud made it hard to obtain financing to buy a home, Vowell's order said.

Seriously, it seemed like everytime Clay would do something good, the next day Ruben would be suing someone. I guess it worked out well for Ruben because he made $2 million by doing so. But we all know he is not going to be making $2 million by selling albums anymore.

Oprah upsets wedding family by crashing ceremony

American chat show queen Oprah Winfrey has come under fire for crashing an Oklahoma
wedding – with a camera crew.

The star stunned newlyweds Heather and Ben Klein and their guests at the June 3 ceremony in Tulsa when she made a grand entrance and toasted the speechless couple.

But the groom’s mother has since blasted Winfrey for stealing the big day from her son.

"The family’s a little angry that it happened," said a family member. "Oprah had no right to crash a private wedding just to make her TV show."

Winfrey’s wedding crashing exploits will appear in an upcoming Oprah show.

Seriuosly, I thought I was the only sick of Oprah thinking she is Queen of the World, but I am glad to see that I am not the only one. Well me, Ludacris, 50 Cent and Ice Cube.

Duff is still virgin…
June 16th, 2006 under Movie Star Gossip. [ Comments: none ]

HILARY DUFF insists punk rocker boyfriend JOEL MADDEN will have to put a wedding ring on her finger before he gets the chance to bed her – because she plans to stay a virgin until her wedding night. The 18-year-old pop star/actress has revealed she has never had sex and is upset when fans automatically assume she and GOOD CHARLOTTE star Madden are bedmates. She says, "It’s harder having a boyfriend who’s older because people just assume. "But (virginity) is definitely something I like about myself. It doesn’t mean I haven’t thought about sex, because everyone I know has had it and you want to fit in."

Seriously? WTF? Does she not realize that did not work out to well  for Jessica Simpson. Why does she think it is going to work out better for her? Look how well losing her virginity before marriage worked out for Britney. OK, bad example…but you get my point.

Stones tour to go on despite Wood reports Thu Jun 15, 4:15 PM ET LONDON (Reuters) – The Rolling Stones tour due to start in Italy next month will go ahead on schedule, the band’s spokeswoman told Reuters, despite reports that guitarist Ronnie Wood has been admitted to an alcohol rehab clinic. ADVERTISEMENT "The Stones are absolutely going ahead on tour beginning July 11 in Milan," spokeswoman Fran Curtis said by telephone from the United States. "I can confirm that for you because I got a note saying see you all there," she added. She did not comment on reports that Wood had been admitted to an alcohol rehab clinic in London, and referred enquiries to the band’s London-based representative who was not immediately available for comment. The tour was initially delayed when fellow guitarist Keith Richards had to have brain surgery after falling out of a tree onto his head while holidaying in Fiji.

Maybe he needs to write a song like Liza with a “Z”

Joaquin Phoenix is appealing to fans and the media to pronounce his name properly. The heartthrob was born Joaquin, but changed his name to Leaf, before reverting back to Joaquin. And despite his ever-increasing fame and accolades, Phoenix is stunned so many people can’t pronounce the Spanish name. He says, "I was born in Puerto Rico and Joaquin is a Spanish name. And when I came to the US, nobody could pronounce it. They would say, ‘What’s your name?’ And I would say, ‘Joaquin’ and they would go, ‘Walk-ing? Walk – what?’ And you know how kids always get bothered with that kind of thing. Like, ‘No! My name is…’ So it bothered me and so I changed it. (The worse is) ‘Joe Wa-Keem’ – I have been called that a lot in Europe. I think there’s maybe a German or French name like that."
