Get well Rob Schneider
June 29th, 2006 under Sick Bay. [ Comments: none ]

Funnyman ROB SCHNEIDER reportedly fainted on the set of his new movie Wednesday morning and was taken to a local hospital. The ‘Deuce Bigalow’ and ‘Benchwarmers’ star was shooting his latest comedy ‘Big Stan,’ in Stockton, CA, at the Northern California Women’s Facility when he suddenly collapsed.

The movie follows the attempts of a con man locked up on fraud charges to learn kung fu to fend off other inmates. The prison has been closed since 2003, and temperatures in the area have climbed as high as 110 degrees, which fire officials say can lead to heat stroke. Schneider, 42, has also reportedly been battling the flu.

Spelling saga continues
June 29th, 2006 under Uncategorized. [ Comments: 1 ]

Just in today — on the heels of TORI SPELLING‘s recent comments to the press about her family feud, the Spelling family has released the following statement:

"We are deeply saddened that, during our time of loss and grief, we are forced to respond to the media frenzy caused by the mean-spirited and surprising comments made by Tori to the press, just two days after the passing of [AARON SPELLING]. As we try to honor his memory with love and respect, the sudden media frenzy she has created at this sensitive time is hurtful and very disturbing. Aaron’s legacy deserved pure and unadulterated tribute and recognition which, sadly, has been tainted.

"Everyone deals with grief in a different way, and since Tori chose not to be here at that time, we believe she is having a harder time dealing with that loss. We understand how difficult it might have been for her to be here, and, perhaps, more difficult for her after she arrived. Aaron loved both his children with all his heart, and he understood how hard it was for her.

"We hope Aaron will be remembered with reverence and spirit for the monumental legacy he has left and not for the petty and tabloid headlines which have marred his articles of remembrance. We have mourned our great loss as a family and will continue to do so as that is what Aaron deserved."

Jackson returns to Vegas.
June 28th, 2006 under Michael Jackson. [ Comments: none ]

LaToya Jackson that is.

LaToya Jackson is returning to Las Vegas after years of feeling like a hostage here.

Jackson, who is in town today to promote an Australian malt liquor, said in a telephone interview that she hopes to have a new home in Las Vegas by late this year and still harbors aspirations of getting into show business here.

Jackson, who turned 50 in May, lived in Las Vegas about five years before moving to Los Angeles in 2001.

Jackson said she feared for her life while living at the Las Vegas Country Club because of death threats from Jack Gordon, her former husband/manager.

Gordon, a con man who unsuccessfully tried to bribe Sen. Harry Reid, died a year ago.

"This man had beaten me to the ground. I never left the house," said Jackson, who lived in the Regency Tower at Las Vegas Country Club.

During the interview, Jackson hinted that a big announcement involving her brother Michael was imminent.

That news, according to a number of wire reports: The former King of Pop is moving from Bahrain to Europe.

LaToya is a part owner of Star Ice, a flavored malt beverage. She’s attending a distributors’ gathering tonight at OPM (Forum Shops at Caesars).

"Las Vegas is my future," she said, adding that she hopes to have a dance music album out soon. It will be titled, appropriately, "Starting Over."

The Mummy 3 confirmed
June 28th, 2006 under Movies. [ Comments: none ]

Though rumours have bounced back and forth about the extent of their involvement – one recent report suggested that the only returning cast member would be the villian himself, played by Arnold Vosloo – Freeze Dried Movies reports today that Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz will indeed return for the next "Mummy" film.

"The Mummy 3" will be set many years – apparently the 1940s – after the events of the last film, "The Mummy Returns". Though O’Connell (Fraser) and Evelyn (Weisz) are still very much in the picture, it’ll be up to their grown-up son, Alex, to do the Mummy mashing. The new Mummy – Yep, Arnold Vosloo will not be returning- will apparently be the desiccated remains of China’s first uber-Emperor Qin Shihuang, who wants revenge on those who turned his team into stone all those years ago. [You can read a review of the script at IESB].
