February 10th, 2012 under Craig Ferguson, Weird Al Yankovic

Weird Al Yankovic is in town for Sunday’s Grammys, which he has not one but two nominations, and because of that he was finally able to make his first appearance on The Late Late Show. In fact the singer told Craig Ferguson that in a way he is responsible for the Scot hosting the show. When the two met 13 years ago Weird Al told him he was wasting his talents acting on The Drew Carey Show and should be hosting a late night show on CBS, and yet it took him over 7 years to be on something he said should happen. Well there was a lot of blame dealt out and one curse word used over and over again to explain their frustration. Then after the fourth time, Weird Al pointed out that his awwwwdorable 8 year old was in the green room watching the unedited feed and he would have to explain what that word means. Then after that word was not uttered again for the rest of the night except by little Nina.
So why so much tension about it, you see Weird Al Yankovic never heard from Craig Ferguson’s people and Craig’s people assumed that Weird Al was two busy touring and the two assumed the other one didn’t like them. Well even though there was a huge miscommunication about it, it all eventually worked out and the two had a funny chat on the CBS show yesterday at 12:37a.
When was all said and done, Weird Al performed TMZ, his take on Taylor Swift’s You Belong to Me. If ever a song needed to be sung on a late night show in Los Angeles, it is that song. See how as Yankovic said, he makes every song better. I tend to agree.
