Elsbeth celebrates Christmas tonight at 10p on CBS. It wouldn’t be an episode of the police procedural unless someone was murdered, and that is precisely what happens.
Mr. and Mrs. Christmas, aka Dirk and DeeDee Dashers (Vanessa Bayer), light up the holiday season. However, it is a broken light on a Christmas tree that will take out Dirk. Who would want to kill the man who encompasses the season, especially right before the big day?
Will his death ruin the holiday for everyone, including cheerful Elsbeth (Carrie Preston), who is all about this time of year?
Elsbeth, Kaya (Carra Patterson), and Detective Donnelly (Molly Price) will spend the days leading up until December 25th looking into who killed Dirk. His murder will be a tough nut to crack, even for Elsbeth.
Along the way, while solving the case, she will get some bad news, which will damper her cheer. Our happy detective is going to make you cry with her. Is there anything that can bring joy back into her life?
Solving the murder would be a start, but it is not enough for her. She keeps getting sad news. Will she finally get a Christmas miracle?
You will have to tune in for an episode that is as sweet as all of the gumdrops, chocolate Santas, hot cocoa, egg nog, and candy canes out there.
If ever there was a drama that deserved a Christmas episode, it is this one. And the writers worked their holiday magic with this episode.
While that is me, there are people who still need to be convinced to check out six male celebrities to take it all off for a good cause on television! Today, Fox gave them eight reasons to tune in. For example, we finally get to see that they are going to Full Monty!
Emmy- and Golden Globe-nominated actor, comedian and producer Anthony Anderson (We Are Family, 75th Emmy Awards, black-ish) rallies a cast of male celebrities, including himself, Taye Diggs (All American, How Stella Got Her Groove Back), Chris Jones (3x Super Bowl Champion, Kansas City Chiefs), Tyler Posey (Teen Wolf), Bruno Tonioli (Dancing with the Stars) and James Van Der Beek (Varsity Blues) to encourage men to get checked and strip the stigma around prostate, testicular and colorectal cancer.
During the two-hour special, Anderson will lead Diggs, Jones, Posey, Tonioli and Van Der Beek as they train and rehearse for the most revealing performance of their careers, culminating with a big strip-tease dance, choreographed by Emmy Award-winner Mandy Moore (Choreographer for So You Think you Can Dance, La La Land, and Taylor Swift’s The Eras Tour), where they will bare all in front of a live audience. Leading up to the final disrobing, the men will expand their limits, test their modesty and strengthen their bond with a series of rehearsals and experiences, both private and public, designed to build confidence and remove them far from their comfort zone and forge a brotherhood. Along the way, each of the celebrities will share their personal stories of how cancer has impacted their lives.
The Real Full Monty airs Monday at 9p! I will be watching, will you?
The ABC version of American Idol is finally rid of Katy Perry, and they got season 4 winner Carrie Underwood to replace her.
I guess it is a big deal to the network. So much so that they are going to air a preview episode of the singing competition after the Oscars on March 2nd.
During that episode, we will watch as Carrie Underwood is welcomed into the mix by host Ryan Seacrest and co-judges Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan. Not only that, but we will also get to see a few auditions from the 23rd/8th season that premieres in its regular timeslot a week later.
I get that it is probably ABC’s biggest show, but I would have asked for 9-1-1 to do a standalone Oscars episode. Like there is a case of food poisoning going on at the show, and now Station 118 has to try to save all of these sick celebrities who are barfing and shitting all over the place! Or there is a fire outside the theater, and the attendees are trapped inside. There is so much that they could’ve done than making us fall asleep watching vanilla Underwood.
Earlier this week, the Goo Goo Dolls postponed their South African tour because Johnny Rzeznik was hospitalized with pneumonia.
Now, we are finding out that Sum 41 has to do the same because Deryck Whibley also has pneumonia.
The band released this statement: “It is with deep sadness and regret that we announce our 2024 Australian tour is unable to proceed. We were beyond excited to deliver this tour from December 4 – December 12, and connect with our Aussie fans once more. Now that we’re here though, and under the guidance and direction of multiple Australian doctors, it’s clear that Deryck is too unwell to perform.
We understand and appreciate your disappointment—we’re gutted too.”
Hopefully, both singers will be better soon and rocking out for their fans!
Dick Wolf has three nights of programming on two different broadcast channels. On January 9th, he is giving streaming a try with his new beat cop procedural on Prime Video.
On Call is an adrenalized and visceral police drama that follows a rookie and veteran officer duo as they go on patrol in Long Beach, California. Incorporating a mixture of bodycam, dash-camera, and cellphone footage to create a cinema verité effect, the innovative series explores the morality of protecting and serving a community.
The series stars Troian Bellisario (Pretty Little Liars) as Officer Traci Harmon, a seasoned twelve-year veteran and training officer with a strong moral compass that has defined her approach to policing, even if that puts her at odds with new law enforcement policies. Brandon Larracuente (The Good Doctor) stars as Alex Diaz, an ambitious rookie who grapples with holding onto his optimistic outlook as he realizes the challenges he’ll face in today’s climate.
I was drinking coffee when I started watching the trailer. But then I poured it down the sink because that teaser woke me up better than caffeine ever could. What an adrenaline rush!
I also can’t wait to see how much further Wolf takes things now that he unrestricted on streaming.
