Hopefully the WGA strike will end soon and things will go back to normal soon, but it is not looking that is going to be the case and we might be going through all of this again in July when the SAG and DGA contracts are up.

Family Guy could end at 101 because of the WGA strike
November 7th, 2007 under Seth MacFarlane, WGA Strike. [ Comments: none ]

Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
Variety is reporting something I never expected, Family Guy only has one more episode finished and ready to air. I thought that the animated shows were finished a year ahead of time, guess I was wrong. And reading what Seth MacFarlane is saying below, I am terrified that Family Guy might end episode 101.

"Family Guy" creator-exec producer MacFarlane was another very vocal showrunner at the rally. He maintained that Sunday's "Family Guy" is the last fully produced episode in the can.

There are other episodes close to being finished, but MacFarlane has made it clear that he has no plans to help put those segs together. MacFarlane also has another unique bit of leverage: He provides voices for many main characters on the show, and he said he would not step into the studio to record any further.

So couldn't Fox just go ahead and use other non-WGA producers to wrap things up?

"They could, but it would be unwise," MacFarlane said. "Because I would be angry."

Twentieth isn't saying what it will do.

"Our hope is that he returns to work and completes his nonwriting obligations on those episodes," a spokesman said.

Losing "Family Guy" in the middle of the November sweeps would be tough for Fox, which counts on the longtime Sunday-night staple. It wouldn't be immediately devastating, however. In a testament to just how strong a performer "Family Guy" is, the show does very well in repeats.

Note to Fox, please don't p!ss off Seth MacFarlane and wait until the strike is over before you look the complete the other episodes. Just re-air Blue Harvest (the Star Wars episode) in two parts to get you through sweeps.
BTW the Variety article talks about other shows like Grey's Anatomy and Private Practice, but I just can't take anymore bad news.

24’s day 7 is off the 2008 calendar because of the WGA strike
November 7th, 2007 under WGA Strike. [ Comments: none ]

Fox has announced its new schedule because of the WGA strike and 24 is not a part of it.

The seventh season premiere of 24 is being postponed to ensure that “Day 7” can air uninterrupted, in its entirety.

That is the biggest casualty so far because of the WGA strike and think that one is going to make the largest stink. But granted the 7th season of 24 hour has been as cursed as the 5th season of Dancing with the Stars. First there season plot was scrapped, then production was delayed because they were still working out kinks, then Kiefer Sutherland was arrested for DUI and they are trying to work his jail time into their production schedule and now this. It is almost to the point maybe they would be better off just scrapping this whole season???

BTW here is the rest of the changes due to the strike. American Idol is back, but Bones and 'Til Death are displaced to Fox's burial night of Friday so I am majorly bummed about that.

“AMERICAN IDOL” RETURNS WITH 2-NIGHT, 4-HOUR PREMIERE

TUESDAY, JAN. 15, AND WEDNESDAY, JAN. 16

ADDITIONAL PREMIERE DATES INCLUDE:

“TERMINATOR: THE SARAH CONNOR CHRONICLES” JAN. 13 AND 14;

“THE MOMENT OF TRUTH” JAN. 23; “NEW AMSTERDAM” FEB. 22; “UNHITCHED” MARCH 2;

“WHEN WOMEN RULE THE WORLD” MARCH 3;

“THE RETURN OF JEZEBEL JAMES” MARCH 7;

“HELL’S KITCHEN” APRIL 1; AND “CANTERBURY’S LAW” APRIL 11

MIX OF ORIGINAL AND ENCORE EPISODES TO BEGIN IN JANUARY;

“BONES” MOVES TO FRIDAYS STARTING JAN. 4;

“PRISON BREAK” RETURNS TO MONDAYS JAN. 14;

“’TIL DEATH” MOVES TO FRIDAYS BEGINNING MARCH 7;

“BACK TO YOU” AIRS WEDNESDAYS AT 9:30 PM AS OF MARCH 12

"24” PREMIERE POSTPONED TO ENSURE “DAY 7”

PROVIDES NON-STOP ACTION

November 7th, 2007 under Jimmy Kimmel, WGA Strike. [ Comments: 1 ]

I am already going through my Jimmy Kimmel Live! withdrawal, but I fear that because Variety is reporting that the WGA strike might go through 2008 I will also start going through a Soap Opera withdrawal soon.

Cashmere Mafia on ice
November 5th, 2007 under ABC, WGA Strike. [ Comments: none ]

(photo from WireImage)
ABC was planning on starting up Cashmere Mafia at the end of the month, but now because of the WGA strike the show is on indefinite hold according to Zap2It. ABC is also messing with its currently airing lineup by testing out Women's Murder Club at Thursdays at 10p and pulling Big Shots on November 24th. I have no problem with that movie because it gets the older skewing yawner Women's Murder Club away from CBS's brilliant new show Moonlight!
