Rivers Cuomo doesn’t know how to love him |
June 1st, 2020 under Andrew Lloyd Webber, Weezer. [ Comments: none ] |
There are a lot of great songs from the Andrew Lloyd Webber musical Jesus Christ Superstar, and the one I sing most is I Don’t Know How to Love Him. My favorite version belongs to Yvonne Elliman, who sang it in the movie.
Today, I finally heard a cover that is now my second favorite, and it wasn’t even sung by a female. It is actually performed by Rivers Cuomo. An interesting choice for the Weezer singer. So much so, I wonder if there is a deeper meaning to it. Either way, it is very powerful for him to sing a song by the most famous prostitute to the son of Gd.

Weezer gets Simpsonsfied while The Simpsons get Weezered! |
May 7th, 2020 under The Simpsons, Weezer. [ Comments: none ] |
This Sunday at 8p on Fox, The Simpsons’ theme song is going to sound a little bit different. That is because Weezer is going to perform it.
Not only that, but they are also going to play a Weezer cover band called Sailor’s Delight on the episode. Sailor’s Delight is going to perform songs from the band’s Black Album and debut a new tune from their upcoming CD Van Weezer. I hope that record is also the Yellow Album in honor of them getting Simpsonfied.

Tears For Fears joins Weezer for Everybody Wants to Rule the World |
April 16th, 2019 under Jimmy Kimmel, Tears For Fears, Weezer. [ Comments: none ] |
Weezer recently released the Teal album which only has covers on it. One of the songs they chose to sing is Tears For Fears’ Everybody Wants to Rule the World. Yesterday when Rivers Cuomo and the band were asked to do Jimmy Kimmel Live they asked Curt Smith and Roland Orzabal to join them. Since the duo just wowed at Coachella.
Both bands started the 1985 tune out together, then the lead singers alternated verses and finally, they all concluded the song as one. Personally, I think they need to release that version of the single too. Smith and Cuomo’s voices are so beautiful together. Doesn’t make you think they can rule the World together.

Jimmy Fallon and Weezer take on the ’80s with classroom instrument |
March 1st, 2019 under Jimmy Fallon, Weezer. [ Comments: none ] |
Weezer recently released the Teal album full of covers and yesterday they performed one of those songs on The Tonight Show. Not, like they normally do but with Jimmy Fallon, The Roots and classroom instruments. Wait, there is more, they got their ’80s on from head to toe.
That means the song of choice was a-ha’s Take On Me, so of course, they added in the comic book effect. Which makes this performance like even more totally rad. BTW is it just me or does Rivers Cuomo look like Corey Feldman circa License to Drive?

Weezer reworked Buddy Holly into a barbershop quartet song! |
February 27th, 2019 under Jimmy Fallon, Weezer. [ Comments: none ] |
Jimmy Fallon and the Ragdoll Girls were back on The Tonight Show yesterday and they decided to sing Buddy Holly. Which was perfect timing because Weezer was on the NBC late night show. Therefore, the band joined in and sang their first hit in the style of the barbershop quartet.
You know, the same way singing Africa gave them, the Teal album full of covers. Maybe this will give us the Straw album filled with their songs being done like this. How swell would that be?
