Biggest a-hole quote of the day
August 30th, 2006 under Unadmirable People. [ Comments: none ]

SOPHIA Loren is way past her shelf life as a sex goddess at age 71, according to designer Stefano Gabbana. "I don’t think much of Sophia Loren posing for the recent Pirelli calendar. What was that all about? I mean, she is a beautiful woman – but a beautiful elderly woman," the Dolce & Gabbana czar tells London’s Sunday Times. "You need to know when to say enough is enough and make room for the next generation."

Supermodel Cindy Crawford has made the astonishing revelation that she has been using a cosmetic surgeon for the past 11 years. It had always been assumed that Miss Crawford earned her £25 million fortune from her natural looks. However, in a magazine interview out today, the 40-year-old mother-two spoke of making regular trips for treatments ranging from Botox, to vitamin and collagen injections. She went on to reveal that she has been getting such extra help with her looks since the age of 29. ‘I’m not going to lie to myself: past a certain age, creams work on the texture of your skin but, in order to restore elasticity, all I can really count on is vitamin injections, Botox and collagen,’ she tells this week’s Gala magazine.Crawford in the past has insisted that a ‘miracle mixture’ of ground coffee and olive oil kept her skin in its enviable condition. Yet with refreshing honesty, she admits: ‘I have a very simple, healthy life, which works miracles. I drink a lot of water, watch what I eat and exercise. ‘But I owe the quality of my skin to my cosmetic surgeon.’ The revelation is bound to come as something of a surprise to the hundreds of thousands of woman who have bought her beauty products over the years – making her fabulously wealthy. Miss Crawford afterall has her own skincare range called Meaningful Beauty. Products includes facial mask, skin softening cleaners, moisturisers and neck rejuvenating creams. She says of her products: ‘I believe Meaningful Beauty is the best skin care available, and soon you will be able to discover the difference yourself. ‘Improve the tone and texture of your skin. Two live diamondback rattlesnakes were released in an Arizona movie theater during a showing of the new film "Snakes on a Plane," according to Local 6 News. Authorities said pranksters released the young venomous rattlesnakes in a dark theater at the AMC Desert Ridge near Tatum and Loop 101 in Phoenix. The two snakes caused a panic in the dark theater, according to the report."That to me is very scary," herpetological association representative Tom Whiting said. "I would hate to be watching a movie about snakes and have a rattlesnake bite me."Wranglers were called to collect the snakes, the report said.No one was injured in the incident and, so far, the culprits have not been caught.Officials believe the snakes were smuggled into the theater in backpacks."This thing is under someone’s chair and they go to sit and they just push your foot in the air and startle it — obviously all they got to do is startle this thing," Phoenix Herpetological Society spokesman Daniel Marchand said. "It’s dark. They can’t see you, you know that well. If it’s scared, boom it strikes."The snakes were released into the desert.

Country star Troy Lee Gentry bear killer
August 16th, 2006 under Unadmirable People. [ Comments: none ]

Troy Lee Gentry, of the country singing duo Montgomery Gentry, has been accused of killing a tame black bear that federal officials say he tagged as killed in the wild.Gentry, 39, of Franklin, Tenn., and Lee Marvin Greenly, 46, of Sandstone, appeared Tuesday before U.S. Magistrate Judge Raymond Erickson in connection with a sealed indictment returned by a federal grand jury in Minneapolis.Authorities allege that Gentry purchased the bear from Greenly, a wildlife photographer and hunting guide, then killed it with a bow and arrow in an enclosed pen on Greenly’s property in October 2004.The government alleges that Gentry and Greenly tagged the bear with a Minnesota hunting license and registered the animal with the state Department of Natural Resources as a wild kill.Gentry allegedly paid about $4,650 for the bear, named Cubby. The bear’s death was videotaped, and the tape later edited so Gentry appeared to shoot the animal in a "fair chase" hunting situation, the government alleges. If convicted, both Gentry and Greenly face a maximum penalty of five years in federal prison and a $20,000 fine.Greenly refused to comment Tuesday. A spokesman for Gentry said he couldn’t comment.
