A few of CBS’s scripted shows were back on the air last week, but we still don’t know when we will get new episodes of their dramas on Friday nights. Well, that was then. Today, they announced that MacGyver, Magnum P.I., and Blue Bloods are returning to airwaves on December 4th.
About time they made this announcement because I have been missing my Reagan family dinners.
Blue Bloods also revealed that Whoopi Goldberg is recurring on the show as City Council Speaker Regina Thomas. Now you can view her on Friday mornings and nights.
Tom Selleck was on Live with Kelly and Ryan today, and the hosts wanted to make him feel comfortable. Therefore, Ryan Seacrest and Kelly Ripa put on mustaches just like the one that Blue Bloods’ star has.
I can’t believe I am saying this, but the American Idol host does not look awful with the Magnum. I would say he should grow one similar to that, but I don’t think he can. He does not seem like the type who can grow a thick beard or mustache like Selleck. That is why the sex symbol has been known for it for almost 40 years, and he is not going to get rid of it anytime soon.
Blue Bloods goes through mayors like beat cops go through shoes. Which means this year the CBS police procedural is getting a new one. This season, Frank Reagan (Tom Selleck) is going up against Dylan Walsh.
According to Deadline his recurring storyline will be, “A pragmatic businessman who rose up through honest ingenuity and keen instincts, he took on the office as a means to ‘give back’ to the City where he was raised in the disappearing middle-class and from which he launched his enormously successful career. In his first story, he approaches Erin (Bridget Moynihan) with an offer to back her in a run for the Manhattan District Attorney’s office, confident in his appraisal of her as someone he can work with to deliver the promises (socially liberal, fiscally conservative) he ran his campaign on. But the lines between ‘work with’ and ‘work for’ are clearly blurred in his conception, and Erin must weigh her ambitions against this charismatic and persuasive one-man sales force.”
How will it all work out? If Lorraine Bracco couldn’t get the job full time, then I doubt Walsh will be able to. Which is why we tune to Blue Bloods every week, to see how the police commissioner shows all of these mayors he is the one in charge.
https://twitter.com/i/status/1116770785555886080 YesterdayCBS announced that they renwed NCIS for a 17th season and today they asked Blue Bloods for a 10th one. Something that was a no-brainer after Tom Selleck signed on the dotted line.
Even though the cop family drama airs on Friday nights, it is the 8th most-watched show on broadcast TV. It used to be television’s death night until this Selleck and Donnie Wahlberg show.
Personally, I have not enjoyed this season as much as years past. I hope they get back to doing what they did best instead of making the Reagans look as dickish as possible until the final seconds of the episode.
UPDATE: NBC also picked up Good Girls for a third season. A surprising move because it is not doing that well in the ratings. Which is sad because it is a really good, female-empowering show that stars Christina Hendricks, Mae Whitman and Retta. Check it on Sundays at 10p. Especially now that you know it will be back for another year.
Before Tom Selleck was always wearing Hawaiian shirts on Magnum PI, he was wearing a suit for Ban Basic? The 31-year-old is anything but basic in that 1977 commercial.
