Rebecca Romijn has aged naturally and beautifully her whole life, but yesterday on The Librarians she aged 50 years in the time it takes to knock on the door. In order to age her and her co-stars, Lindy Booth, Christian Kane and John Harlan Kim, a half century like the rest of the town they were investigating, the makeup department really had to work their magic. And boy did they.
The Guardian posted a video of how they transformed the actress, from a young beauty into a woman who will be the catch at any old folks home, in a matter of hours. But to us, it looked like :40 seconds. The ageing transformation is the best I have ever seen, I would be surprised if they did not get an Emmy nomination for the work that they did on all of the actors in last night’s episode. No offense to This Is Us, but they can learn a thing from The Librarians’ makeup department in ageing someone.

Tonight at 8p on TNT, The Librarians is finally back with two all-new episodes to save the world. Not from Donald Trump, but from magical artifacts falling into the wrong hands.
For example, during the 4th season premiere, someone has unearth one of the four cornerstones from the Library of Alexandria. If someone finds all four stones before Eve (Rebecca Romijn), Flynn (Noah Wyle), Jacob (Christian Kane), Ezekiel (John Harlan Kim) and Cassandra (Lindy Booth) do, then their library will be destroyed. Time is of the essence, and they have one major problem, they don’t know where any of the stones are hidden and there is no map detailing their location.
Thankfully, Jenkins (John Larroquette) knows someone who might be able to help them, since she hid the stones. But there is something else about her, she used to be Flynn’s old guardian before Eve and they also had love connection. Oh and Flynn thought she was dead. What will that mean for the future of Fleve? Especially since your saw their wedding in that sneak peek. But I have said too much.
The Librarians is the perfect mix of Sci-Fi, adventure and comedy all rolled into one show that you can watch with your family. How many shows like this can you do that with? And wait until you see next week’s Christmas themed episode.
Then at 8:30p but over on ABC, it is time for a DiMeo Christmas on Speechless. When Jimmy (John Ross Bowie) and Maya (Minnie Driver) are woken up by Dylan’s (Kyla Kenedy) snake, they did not know about, the family decides they want a dog. Well everyone but JJ (Micah Fowler), who would have to get the pup as a service dog since they are not allowed to own any animals at the house they are renting. He is busy with his film class, so he does not have time for a dog. Dylan goes behind his back to get the dog and when JJ finds out, he tells her he is going to get r-e-revenge on her. She is afraid, she is very afraid and she should be.
Also afraid of something is their brother, Ray (Mason Cook), wants to introduce his mom to his girlfriend’s mom. Taylor’s (Sedona James) mom (Sarah Chalke) and Maya have a history causing friction for everyone. Is this is the end of Raylor?
Finally, Kenneth (Cedric Yarbrough) makes the mistake of telling Jimmy that the store he is moonlights at is giving away free turkeys. Kenneth accidentally tells Jimmy how to break the system, so that he can get as many of the frozen bird as he wants. Kenneth knows it is a mistake because he knows the DiMeos, he just doesn’t realize how much of one until he opens the freezer door and several of them fall out of there since turkeys cannot fly. Why does Jimmy need all of those turkeys, you will just have to tune in to see.
Speechless is not your normal family show because the DiMeos are not perfect people, but they are the perfect family for each other. At the end of the day they take care of each other and that is a big part of making a good family sitcom. That and a lot of laughs, which every week they deliver. And the biggest selling point is they treat JJ like he is a normal kid and not like one who has Cerebral Palsy, and that alone makes this show very special to me with everything else is just grave on top.
TNT announced today that this season of Major Crimes will be its last. It seemed like that creator of the show was OK with it because of the quote he gave in the press release. James Duff said, “The whole company of Major Crimes is dedicated to making 2017-18 the best season yet.”
But then he took to Facebook and told a different story. He wrote, “I’m directing the finale of Major Crimes, so I can’t really answer all the questions that are being asked today about why Major Crimes was cancelled before we ran our sixth season. But I do want you to know that it was not at all my idea, nor did I want to leave the show.”
Then he added, “The actors, the writers, the producers and our talented crew would have held on as long as we were relevant. I am extraordinarily thankful to our viewers, who followed us to four different time slots in the last eighteen months, and who make up a very large part of what we call the community of the show. Without the loyalty of our audience, Major Crimes would have been gone much sooner.”
Finally he concluded with, “We’ll have a chance to talk about what happened in the near future. Meanwhile, we are determined to give you the best season we can. So sorry I couldn’t stop this moment from happening.”
I am surprised that they are cancelling the show because it has been their mainstay on the network for the last 5 seasons. It is still good show, but Kevin Reilly does not like any show that started before his reign. Which is sad because all the shows he picked up suck and now I am left only watching one show on the net as compared to at least 4 at a time before he became their president.
I am sure Major Crimes will go out on top, but it is just a shame they will not go past the 6th season.
Angie Tribeca is back on TBS tonight at 10:30p and in the first two episodes they make fun of the CBS cop shows. I am not going to tell you how, but you will have to see the brilliant way they do it.
The episode starts off with Tribeca (Rsahida Jones) retiring in order to be a full time mom to her child with Giles (Hayes MacArthur). What will happen that will bring back? Let’s just say the reason is crappy.
Now that she is back, she needs to investigate someone who is kidnapping wealthy men who are gamers for fun. On tonight’s episode, the killer takes his newest victim (Timothy Omundson). Just when you think the actor can’t top himself, he does again. And he does it at one point just wearing underwear!
Tribeca and Giles have very little to go ojn, so she has to go to a past collar played by Chris Pine. That’s right, the newest Captain Kirk actually does comedy and does it well. After she gets a lead from him, they are off to next week’s episode where this killer storyline ends.
In the next few weeks, they look into a local college “sports” star accused of hit and run. There’s a reason why sports in quotes. Then the following week, a robotics expert is killed by one of his robots. Be prepared for one of the weirdest sex scenes ever. Heather Graham returns for this episode, but is she the on involved in that sex scene. On May 8th, the sky is falling and a person falls out of the sky. Where did he come from? They will go farther than they have ever gone before to find out.
Angie Tribeca has found a perfect way to mesh procedurals with slapstick humor and because of that this show gets more addictive with each season. Season 3 is so addictive, I might have to check into rehab!
Tonight at 9p on TNT, Sasha Alexander directs her first episode of Rizzoli & Isles and the show came up with an interesting way to take her off the case and give her a little less camera time for an episode.
Rizzoli (Angie Harmon) is called out to a murder at a park, but the victim is missing his phone. When they call the guy’s number, the phone leads them to a second victim who is alive. Not only is he alive, but he has a connection to Isles (Alexander) that no ones about. The two of them were married. Shock and awe!
Since she was married to him, she has to excuse herself from the case. But that doesn’t mean she is excused from her past with him and his evil mother.
Will Isles get back together with her college sweetheart? More importantly who tried to kill him? The latter Rizzoli will be working on. Just when you think you figured it, you find out you didn’t.
It is sad that the police procedural is ending because Alexander proved she is just as good in front of the camera as she is behind it. I would like to see her direct more often because she definitely proved herself with tonight’s episode.
