We have seen Kevin (Justin Hartley) and Kate’s (Chrissy Metz) standalone episodes on This Is Us and tonight at 9p on NBC it is time for Randall’s (Sterling K. Brown).
Randall and Beth (Susan Kelechi Watson) get a surprise visit when Deja’s mother shows up, after being released from prison because the charges were dropped, and says she wants her daughter back. Now they will do everything they can to keep their foster daughter, but is it enough? Deja’s mom has every right to take her daughter back, but the teen is doing so much better in her foster home. Who will get Deja (Lyric Ross)?
While that is the present, we also flashback to teenage Randall (Niles Fitch) going to check out Howard University with his dad (Milo Ventimiligia). You get to see how this getaway changed his life.
That is not the only flashback we get to see, we also get to know a little more about Randall’s biological father William (Ron Cephas Jones) and his meeting with Rebecca (Mandy Moore).
Then it is time for the moment when Kevin knocks on Randall’s door and we learn what happened after Kevin found out his sister lost her baby. That is when you will be pissed that this the Winter finale and we will have to wait a month for the next episode.
How will we survive December without This Is Us?

Last week, This Is Us revealed that Kate (Chrissy Metz) suffered a miscarriage and tonight at 9p on NBC, she and Toby (Chris Sullivan) deal with the news in different ways.
Kate chooses to stay busy and go on with her life, but is she really ready to do that? She isn’t and it is causing her to slowly break down. Meanwhile, Toby is taking it really hard and wants to talk to his fiance’ about it. Since they are both handling it differently, it is taking a toll on their relationship. Can their love survive this?
One thing Kate has that Toby doesn’t, is her mom. Rebecca (Mandy Moore) also lost a child and she shares with her daughter and us what she went through for the first time. Making her the most understanding and caring mom on television. She always seems to know what to say at the right time. Although, Kate is not always willing to listen. We will see that when we flash back to the night that Kevin broke his leg when she was a teen. The mom and daughter go throw that typical teenage angst as they wait to find out how Kevin is.
This Is Us delivers another powerful episode as we learn more about Number Two aka Kate.

Then at 10p, Chicago Med is back and it picks up where it left off. Dr Charles (Oliver Platt) is bleeding out after being shot outside the hospital and it does not look like he is going to make it. Will he? It is an intense episode you do not want to miss.
Can I tell you how happy I am that this medical drama is back? It keeps getting better.

The Mick makes us laugh til we cry, This Is Us is only about Kevin! |

If you thought that last week’s sex scene between a blob and a human on The Orville was the strangest thing you were going to see on Fox this month, you were so wrong. Tonight’s The Mick on Fox at 9p, will shock you and shock you again until they do something that will make scream Jesus’ full name. Once you get the “st” out, you will be laughing so hard that you will be in pain. Then you will watch it all over and over and over again.
Before we get to that moment, let me tell what you the episode is about. BTW did I tell you it is the best one of the show’s run so far? It is like they threw caution into wind and whatever the censors let them get away with, they did. And they get away with a lot.
Back to the episode, Mickey (Kaitlin Olson) takes Sabrina (Sofia Black-D’Elia), Chip (Thomas Barbusca) and Ben (Jack Stanton) to their great grandmother’s 100th birthday party, but their grandmother won’t let the 4 of them plus Alba (Carla Jimenez) and Jimmy (Scott MacArthur) in to the party. When their great grandmother sees Mickey, she thinks she is an old friend from Coral Gables. Therefore, she lets them stay for the party. In fact, she asks them all to stay for the weekend. Since evil grandma is going away, they invite themselves over. What is the worst that can happen? It happens and it does not stop happening. You just have to see it to believe because I saw it and I do not believe it. But that does not mean you will not laugh until your pants are soaking wet. It is so wrong and yet so so so right.
In other words, I am preparing you for an episode that is one of the funniest half hours of television so far.

If you want to watch something more serious, then tonight’s This Is Us on NBC at 9p is for you. For the first time in the show’s run, the episode will be just about Kevin.
It has been a few days since Kevin (Justin Hartley) broke up with Sophie at her doorstep. He has been staying at a hotel and has not left his room since he got there. All he has been doing is drinking in that room. Until he gets a phone call that he is getting honored at his high school the next day.
He heads back home, and being their brings back memories with his father (Milo Ventimilgia). The good times they had when he was playing football and the bad one he had when he broke his knee during the game.
That is the past, his present is spiraling down faster than the Titanic went under. He is a star at his alma mater and they have him up on a pedestal. But we can see he is at his lowest. He is calling out for help, but no one is listening. Will anyone finally hear him?
It all comes to a conclusion that will set up for next week’s episode that is all about Kate (Chrissy Metz). Then the Big Three event concludes the following week with an episode that is all about Randall (Sterling K Brown).
One more note about tonight’s episode, I have never seen Hartley act as masterfully as he does tonight. He gives the performance of a lifetime and then some. The Emmy people will have to recognize him for this episode because it is that phenomenal. There is one scene that will rip your heart out as you get to see what his character is all about it. This is a must not miss episode, so don’t miss it.

Tonight at 9p on NBC, Jack (Milo Ventimilgia) and Rebecca (Mandy Moore) fight to make Randall their child on This Is Us in a flashback to his adoption proceedings when he was around 1. Everything seems to be going their way, until the judge does not think that a White family should be raising an African-American child. How will they convince him that they love this child as though he was their own? Is that enough?
While they are in one courtroom, Randall’s biological father (Ron Cephas Jones) is another one. He is there because he has been arrested for doing drugs. The judge is ready to lock him up, but what William says might change his mind.
Talking about prison Randall (Sterling K. Brown) takes Deja (Lyric Ross) to see her mom at one. Only problem is, she refuses to see her daughter. This decision on her part is going to make Randall question everything related to his foster child and it forces him to stand up for her like she was his own. We see a much different side to him tonight.
Not everything bad happens in a courthouse tonight, Kate (Chrissy Metz) and Toby (Chris Sullivan) are ready to tell everyone the good news. Kate tells her brother, but Toby is hesitant to tell his religious mother about the baby he is going to have out of wedlock. That is when Kate says they should just get married. What happens next is why their love story is so endearing.
Finally, there is Kevin (Justin Hartley) and his downward spiral is out of control. How much lower can he go? After tonight, well you just have to tune in to see.
I am surprised there any heart strings left for this show to pull because I thought they already pulled them all. They have not, and tonight they found some more to tug on.
Seriously, if Mandy Moore does not win the Emmy this year, then NATAS is full of a bunch of jokes who don’t know what real acting is all about.

As we learned last week on This Is Us, Kate (Chrissy Metz) is pregnant, and tonight at 9p on NBC she tells Toby (Chris Sullivan) he is going to be a father. How is going to handle the news?
Talking about fathers, Jack (Milo Ventimilgia) tries to be a father of the year when he takes prepubescent Kevin (Parker Bates) and Randall (Lonnie Chavis) camping. It is not just a fun weekend for the Pearson boys, it is Jack’s way of getting his sons to finally get along. He knows more than anyone how important being a brother is. We learn this during his flashback as we get to see him around the same age as his two boys are in this flashback. Does that make sense?
We know that Jack and his dad do get along, again we finally see why in his flashback to his younger years. But what happens when Rebecca (Mandy Moore) gets a call from the nursing home where Jack’s dad is living and they tell her that her father-in-law is dying. She tries to reach out to Jack at the campground to no avail. Instead of having a girl’s day out with her daughter, Kate (Mackenzie Hancsicsak), they go to meet Jack’s dad before it is too late. Moore continues to bring it every week, and this week she proves to be the perfect wife, mother and daughter-in-law.
When it comes to daughters, Randall (Sterling K. Brown) and Deja (Lyric Ross) finally bond over something. That something is Kevin (Justin Hartley) and the actor invites them to a gala where is going to be auctioned off. On the outside Kevin seems fine. On the inside, he is struggling with the pain from his recent knee injury. The pain is causing him to do things that might cost him a lot. We will just have to keep tuning in to see how much.
Back to Randall and Deja, they have that much needed bonding moment that will finally bring them together.
All in all, it is another great episode of This Is Us, that reminds us why tissues sales are up. And it is not because of allergies, it is because we are crying ever week with this family drama.
