AARON NEVILLE ON THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS TODAY via Soap Opera Digest The opening of Neil’s new jazz club, Indigo, may have been Aaron Neville’s first gig in daytime, but the R&B legend is no stranger to Genoa City. "I work my schedule around THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS," Neville shares. "No interviews when Y&R is on! Everyone respects that, so they don’t mess with me at the wrong time. They leave me alone. I also buy the magazines and get the heads-up on what’s happening. When I can’t watch, my sister, my wife and my daughter tape it for me and give me the lowdown. ‘What is Victor up to?’" Just like his pal Aretha Franklin, another outspoken Y&R fan. "We talked about the show when we did the national anthem for the Super Bowl [XL, in February]," he confirms. "You have to talk Y&R, you know!" Needless to say, Neville was thrilled when he was offered a chance to perform at the Oct. 27 opening of Indigo. "I have a record out, Bring It on Home… The Soul Classics, and I was invited to come on, so it worked out real cool," he says. "I played a couple songs ("Stand by Me" and "Ain’t No Sunshine") from the album." And with the cast piling onto set to hear the legend perform, Neville got to hobnob with Genoa City locals. "I was in awe, looking at all my favorite characters," he admits. "Eric (Braeden, Victor) was cool, man. Just like I pictured. I’m trying to figure out where [this epilepsy storyline is] going to end up. He’s got to come to his senses! He’s ruthless on the show, but [everyone I met here] is nice. "
DONNY OSMOND ON ALL MY CHILDREN via Starpulse Donny Osmond will guest star on ABC’s All My Children. He will play himself in scenes with Erica Kane (Susan Lucci), as she celebrates the second season premiere of "New Beginnings," the fictitious talk show within the show.
CLAY AIKEN ON DAYS OF OUR LIVES via People Claymates will get a special Christmas present this year: Clay Aiken will be appearing on the NBC daytime drama Days of our Lives as himself, PEOPLE has learned exclusively. On the show, the American Idol phenomenon will perform "Everything I Have," a song from his new album, as part of a private concert for Steve (Stephen Nichols) and Kayla (Mary Beth Evans) in the local Salem club called Dune.
I can’t wait to see Clay sing to Patch and Kayla! I bet it will be so romantic and sweet!

CBS might redo Name That Tune with Donny Osmond |
October 9th, 2006 under CBS, The Osmonds. [ Comments: none ]

CBS and Planet Grande Prods. are mounting a new take on "Name That Tune," with Donny Osmond on board to host. Latest incarnation of the quizzer classic will be a hybrid, combining elements of game and variety formats. In addition to the familiar song-guessing game, skein will incorporate live musical performances from well-known artists and a bonus round in which players can win $1 million. Eye has ordered a pilot to be taped in December, with a decision on a series order expected quickly thereafter. New "Tune" began to take shape when rightsholder Sandy Frank talked to production companies about reviving the brand. He brought in Planet Grande’s John Watkin and Eamon Harrington. "Sandy wanted an infusion of new energy and ideas. He met with a lot of people and liked our take," Watkin said. In addition to Watkin and Harrington, Panacea Entertainment’s Eric Gardner will produce. New "Tune" is meant to appeal to several generations of viewers, featuring songs from various eras. While the format is still being finalized, it’s expected teams of two people from different age groups — fathers and sons, aunts and nephews — will compete. "It increases the variety of music we can do," Osmond said. "We can go from Sinatra to hip-hop to everything in-between." Producers are also keen on introducing the element of surprise into the show by having mystery guests appear midshow to sing a song once a contestant correctly names that tune. In addition, the final segment of each show will give players the chance to score $1 million if they can name 15 songs in 60 seconds — a concept they’re tagging "the million-dollar minute." "I want the show to have the fun and spontaneity of ‘American Idol’ and marry that with the edge-of-your-seat (feeling) you get in ‘Deal or No Deal,’ " Watkin said. "Name That Tune" first appeared on TV in the 1950s, with revivals in the 1970s and 1980s. Various versions of the skein have aired on NBC, CBS and in syndication, while VH1 mounted the short-lived "Name That Video" in 2001.

Marie Osmond joins Celebrity Duets |
August 22nd, 2006 under The Osmonds, TV Reality. [ Comments: none ]

Wow, this Duets show could be a real trainwreck! I mean, nothing compares to Idol, but this could be riveting viewing. You’ve got a grab-bag of semi-celebrities of varying vocal ability, a passel of professional partners of varying career viability and, as announced today, one of the most bizarre judging panels imaginable.David Foster, who’d already been announced, we know about. He was tough on the Idol finalists during his guest-coach role, and obviously he’s been cast to handle the Simon-esque role on Duets. (Plus, he’s a non-American — Canadian, to be exact.)Marie Osmond sounds like the perfect Paula — not only does she have one of the all-time nice-gal images, but there’s a prescription incident in her past that could inspire a few hypothetical comparisons. And then Little Richard — I’m confident he can still whoop it up, but are they expecting him to deliver coherent advice too? Are the other judges prepared to put up with all those admonitions to "shut up"? Will anyone else ever get a word in? I guess Mr. Penniman will portray a combination of Randy (the impenetrable jargon aspect) and Paula (the sheer wigginess). All in all, I’m going to have to put this on the TiVo schedule for sure.
Idol Chatter
This is either going to be very very good or very very bad, either way it is going to be hot!

TMZ has learned that Marie Osmond spent two days in a Utah hospital last week following a bad reaction to prescription drugs, but her rep denied a National Enquirer report that the incident was related to a suicide attempt."She had an adverse reaction to some medication she was taking," said Amy Hawkes, a spokeswoman for Osmond. Hawkes confirmed that Osmond spent two days in Timpanogos Regional Hospital, but disputed a report in the Aug. 14 issue of the Enquirer that Osmond, depressed over family problems, intentionally swallowed two bottles of pills and scribbled a suicide note with lipstick on her bathroom counter. The tabloid said the drugs involved were Adderall, used for Attention Deficit Disorder, and Klonopin, an anti-anxiety drug.
