Robert Mills, Senior Vice President, Alternative Series, Specials & Late-Night Programming, ABC Entertainment, was on Ryan Seacrest’s radio show, On Air with Ryan Seacrest, today; and he was dishing about what we can expect from the upcoming seasons of The Bachelorette and The Bachelor.
They are hoping to resume filming of Claire Crowley’s season of The Bachelorette next month. Production was halted because of the coronavirus pandemic.
Due to COVID-19, there are going to be a lot of changes for the second part of her season. Everyone, who is selected, is going to have to get tested a week before filming begins and quarantined. They will not be shooting at the mansion. Instead, they will be doing it at a resort. Since everyone will have to be negative for the virus, they will be able to go on dates at that location and, more importantly, KISS. You can’t have a dating show without kissing!
We don’t know if Matt James, the first Black Bachelor, will rejoin the season already in progress. What we do know is that Crowley knew about his new status a day before we all found out.
When it comes to James, over 6,500 women are hoping to be part of his season. As of now, they are hoping to start filming in September at the mansion. If things are still not normal by then (they won’t be), then they will probably go to a resort too.
Personally, I like the idea of them at a resort instead of at a mansion. ABC prefers the latter because it is a lot cheaper.
What do you think of it being at resorts? Maybe one season they can do at a summer camp and another one on a cruise ship. Give us some variety!
After years of people complaining that The Bachelor is not diverse enough, today, ABC announced that they will have their first Black Bachelor in 2021. Matt James, who is supposed to be on the upcoming edition of The Bachelorette, is the next suitor in the franchise.
The Bachelorette’s filming was put on hold because of the coronavirus pandemic. After they stopped filming, James joined cameo, and the Bachelorette Clare Crowley called him out on it. Even though he said he was donating the money to charity. Since then, people have been wondering if he would still be part of her season when production finally resumes. Something, we do not know.
What we also know about James is that he is best friends with Tyler Cameron, who appeared on Hannah Brown’s season of The Bachelorette. The two men are living together during the lockdown. This makes us suspect that he will probably help out his friend pick his eventual bride.
Now that we got that out of the way let’s find out why ABC picked him to be their 25th Bachelor. Karey Burke, president, ABC Entertainment: “Matt has been on our radar since February, when producers first approached him to join Bachelor Nation, as part of Clare’s season. When filming couldn’t move forward as planned, we were given the benefit of time to get to know Matt and all agreed he would make a perfect Bachelor. We know we have a responsibility to make sure the love stories we’re seeing onscreen are representative of the world we live in, and we are proudly in service to our audience. This is just the beginning, and we will continue to take action with regard to diversity issues on this franchise. We feel so privileged to have Matt as our first Black Bachelor and we cannot wait to embark on this journey with him.”
Having a Black Bachelor is one thing, but will there also be plenty of women, who are people of color, for him to choose to date? Something only about half of the men were during Rachel Lindsay’s season. She was the only other Black person to lead of season of the show. If you are going to do it, do it right.
Clare Crawley’s season of The Bachelorette is on a pause because of the Coronavirus Pandemic, and according to Chris Harrison not all of the men might be coming back when production resumes. Therefore, they are looking for replacements.
Crawley has some advice for her suitors, “If you are doing interviews and creating Cameo accounts before you are even on my season… you are in it for the wrong reasons… #dontwasteyourtime”
When Robert Mills, Senior Vice President, Alternative Series, Specials & Late-Night Programming, ABC Entertainment, saw that he tweeted, “BREAKING: Chris Harrison removed from upcoming season of #TheBachelorette”
What? Harrison has been hosting the franchise since day one, it won’t be the same without him. It would be like Survivor without Jeff Probst, American Idol without Ryan Seacrest, RuPaul’s Drag Race without RuPaul, or So You Think You Can Dance without Nigel Lythgoe. You don’t want to watch it without some of them.
Fear not! After a few hours Harrison cleared things up. “Not sure people are getting the joke here. Thank you for the questions I’ll be getting this week. Face with tears of joy. @Millsy11374”
Mills then confirmed Harrison is still part of the show with, “I am stunned people took this seriously. This was a JOKE. Chris hosts for the right reasons but being a celebrity he does interviews and Cameo. He’s not going anywhere. We have him chained to the mansion!!!”
Just like Donald Trump, you never know when Mills is being sarcastic over Twitter.
Would you have been upset if Harrison was not given a rose?
The latest season of The Bachelorette halted production because of Coronavirus. Chris Harrison spoke with girlfriend Entertainment Tonight’s Lauren Zima and gave her an update on the status of the Bachelor franchise shows.
Harrison does not know when Claire Crawley’s season will go back into production, but they will complete it. She is the star, so she will be back. However, he does not know if all of the men will be back. Because of that, they are casting for both this season of Bachelorette and the next season of The Bachelor. They do not have a Bachelor in mind just yet.
What about Bachelor of Paradise which airs and films between the two shows? As of now, this season’s future is unsure. It is all up to when they are done filming The Bachelorette.
The Bachelor: Summer Games will not happen this year because they cannot get contestants to fly in from all over the world.
Back to the Bachelorette, when it starts up again, they will address why everyone went home for X amount of time. When will we see this season? Who knows? But we will see it.
About a year ago, my friend Paulette told me about a streaming site called Tubi TV. Since then, I have watched a movie or a TV show on it every day since, and there are still many more options for me to choose from. I have rarely ever watched anything twice. I have cried, laughed screamed several times thanks to their vast supply of movies. And did I mention it is FREE?
There are 1,000s of movies: horror, action, comedy, classics, cult classic, award-winning, faith, African-American cinema and so on. They also have shows and films to occupy babies and toddlers’ attention with. There is something for everyone. Even during Christmas, they had a wide selection of features to choose from. After I watched around a dozen horror movies about the holiday, I got my share of Lifetime, Hallmark and faith-based telemovies in.
Since I need to sleep with the television on, I sleep with Tubi TV on my aging iPad. After a program finishes, they automatically go to another one on their library. I never know what I am going to wake up to, and I look forward to the surprise.
Another surprise I love about Tubi TV is that they have rare standup specials, concert performances and exercise videos. Like I said there is something for everyone.
For example, on April 1st (my birthday) they are adding the first seasons of The Bachelor and The Bachelorette to their lineup along with The Bachelorette: Trista & Ryan’s Wedding
and season 5 of Bachelor in Paradise. If that is not enough, they will also be streaming Donnie Darko, Down to Earth, The Virgin Suicide, Species II, Indecent Proposal, Bill & Ted’s Bogus Journey.
Those are just a few of the many, many, many titles. Another thing I use Tubi for is when someone dies, like Luke Perry, I search to see if they have anything by that person. Which they will and then I will watch it.
You can never get bored with Tubi TV. Plus, you can’t beat the price, FREE!
