Shining Vale ended its second season December 1st on Starz. And today, show creator Jeff Astrof announced that Starz ended the paranormal dramedy which starred Courteney Cox, Greg Kinnear, and Parvesh Cheena.

“This show gave me unrelenting joy to work on. Not a single bad day,” the Executive Producer wrote. “Please watch the #starz (turns out, Limited) series #shiningvale before 12/31. #wearephelps”

If you want to watch the show, you better hurry up because it is going to be pulled from streaming on New Year’s Eve.

Deadline reported that Warner Bros. shopped the series around, but sadly, no one bought it.

Shining Vale is even crazier this season
October 13th, 2023 under Courteney Cox, Starz!. [ Comments: none ]

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NiJlR9bQxnA

Shining Vale is back on Starz tonight at 9p, and they found a way to make this season even wilder than the last one.

Yes, they even found a way to top a ghost having sex with a human. How? I am not going to tell you.

But I will tell you tonight’s episode picks up four months after the season finale. In case you forgot what happened, here it is. Terry (Greg Kinnear) and Pat (Courteney Cox) Phelps moved into a house with their teenagers, Gaynor (Gus Birney) and Jake (Dylan Gage), which they didn’t know was haunted.

Pat meets one of the ghosts, Rosemary Wellingham (Mira Sorvino), a housewife who is ahead of her repressed time. She decides to possess Pat to help her write her book, but she does so much more.

Eventually, Rosemary decides to kill Terry with an axe, but instead hits him over the head, and he falls down the stairs. Pat, who was high on pills, falls down next to him. Terry winds up in the hospital, and Pat in an insane asylum. And now you are caught up.

Terry is starting to walk again and learning the basics. He has done such a good job it is time for him to go home.

Pat has been getting shock treatments, and she is not ready to go home. However, her insurance refuses to pay, so she also goes home.

And that is a good thing because Gaynor has been taking care of her brother, and the 16-year-old has no idea what she is doing.

Now that they are all together again. The shit is going to go down. Rosemary isn’t done yet with the Phelps, and she has found a new way to torture them that doesn’t involve an axe.

In fact, there will be a few deaths this season, and no axe is involved. But you are going to love what it is. It made me laugh. But I am sick and twisted. So is this show.

I want to tell you more, but that doesn’t happen for a few episodes, and only one episode is dropping every Friday. So you will have to come back next week. And you will want to because it gets better each week until the shocking conclusion. But that is two months away.

If you haven’t seen Shining Vale, you can start with the season 2 premiere tonight and then watch season 1 on the Starz app. Once you tune in, you find yourself hooked because there is nothing else like it on television.

Jeff Astrof, who created the show, has a brilliant way of giving us original enjoyable shows that make you laugh with the characters.

Party Down is back and better than before
February 24th, 2023 under Starz!. [ Comments: none ]

https://youtu.be/Ad3ELGjAG7c

It has been 12 years since we last saw the crew of Party Down, and they are finally back with a new season on Starz and the Starz app today.

Ron (Ken Marino) is still running the catering service and is about to buy it. Before he does, he just has to do one more party.

This is no ordinary party; it is for former waiter Kyle (Ryan Hansen). He finally made it, and he hired Party Down to cater it. Not only that, he invites the old gang, so it becomes a reunion.

Roman (Martin Starr) is still working as a bartender, but he has a Sci-Fi vlog that people read.

Henry (Adam Scott) is married, but not to Casey. He is no longer an actor. Instead, he works as a high school teacher.

Constance (Jane Lynch) is still Constance, and she is ready to mentor anyone who needs it.

Last but not least. Lydia’s (Megan Mullally) daughter finally made it, but she still wants more for her.

Tonight’s episode is giving us an update on everyone and getting us ready for the next five episodes.

Kyle’s party happened right before COVID, and next week it picks up after the pandemic ended, and people want to celebrate again.

And they will celebrate Jack’s (James Marsden) 45th birthday! But don’t tell anyone because his wife (Jennifer Garner) is throwing him a surprise party. And boy, will there be a surprise.

Not as much as the following week, where they cater a party for a bunch of Nazis. Money is money, right?

Then it is time for a radio promotion, and the winners of it are going to see Sting. There is a lot of Sting bashing in this episode, and I love it. Oh, and did I mention everyone from Party Down does special mushrooms?

The final episode before the season finale has Lydia throwing her daughter the prom she never had. And it will be a memorable evening for everyone.

Since they are so busy, Ron has two new employees. They are TikTok influencer Sackson (Tyrel Jackson Williams) and Chef Lucy (Zoë Chao), who wants people to experience her food. And let’s just say it is an experience you will never forget.

And there you have it. The gang is back together, and these episodes are more enjoyable than the first time around. Since they have nothing to lose, they throw everything at the wall and don’t care if it sticks.

So get ready to laugh with a show that everyone who watched it loved. Just not enough of us did, which is why it was cancelled after two seasons. So, let’s tune in, so we can let Starz know they did something right.

You are invited to party with Party Down on February 24th
December 14th, 2022 under Adam Scott, Jane Lynch, Megan Mullally and Nick Offerman, Starz!. [ Comments: none ]

Party Down, the little show that could is still coulding. That is because Starz is bringing it back for a third season after a 12-year hiatus with its original stars.

Ten years later, most of the Party Down catering team have moved on, including actor/bartender Henry Pollard (Adam Scott). After a surprise reunion, the gang (Ken Marino, Jane Lynch, Martin Starr, Ryan Hansen, and Megan Mullally) find themselves once again stoically enduring the procession of random parties and oddball guests all over Los Angeles.

They were too old to work as a catering crew the first go around, so it is going to be even funnier now that they are over a decade older.

The Serpent Queen is wickedly good!
September 11th, 2022 under Starz!. [ Comments: none ]

As England mourns Queen Elizabeth II, Starz is giving us The Serpent Queen tonight.

The Serpent Queen is the story of the French Queen Catherine de’ Medici (Samantha Morton and Liv Hill). Medici was born in Italy to wealthy parents who left her an orphan at a very young age. She did not have an easy upbringing, but that didn’t stop the King of Italy from marrying her off to Prince Henry of France.

The Prince was already in love with her distant cousin, and he was not interested in having sex with her. Therefore, she was not able to give him an heir. The longer it takes her to get pregnant, the better the chances she will be discarded.

However, the King of France fancied her brain, so he kept her around. Now, she will do anything and hurt anyone to become the Queen and give her husband, his future King.

How far will she go? Further than the other evil Queens whose stories we have learned.

While Catherine de’ Medici’s reign was ugly, Starz’s telling of it is beautiful. So sit back and watch a real-life Royal story that does not have a happy ending. And I prefer this to the fairy tales we grew up with.

My only negative is that they got English actors to play the roles of French and Italians.
