Snoop Doggy Dogg is officially a wanted man. TMZ has learned that a felony warrant has been issued for the arrest of the rapper, (aka Calvin Broadus) after the Orange County District Attorney charged him with one felony count of possession of a deadly weapon. According to law enforcement officials, Snoop attempted to walk through an X-ray machine at John Wayne Airport in Orange County, Calif. with a 21" collapsible baton packed in his laptop computer case on September 27th. Orange County Sheriffs’ deputies were called to the scene where they detained the rapper and confiscated the weapon. If convicted , the rapper faces a maximum sentence of 3 years in a state prison. Bail has been set at $150,000.

Snoop Dogg was arrested on suspicion of illegal drug and gun possession, police said. The rapper, whose real name is Calvin Broadus, was arrested at 3:45 p.m. Thursday at Bob Hope Airport, police said. Snoop Dogg posted $35,000 bail and was scheduled to appear in court Dec. 12. Airport police officers stopped Snoop Dogg at a loading zone for a vehicle code violation. When officers searched the vehicle they found a gun and marijuana, police said. "There was no basis for this arrest," the rapper’s attorney, Donald Etra, said in a statement. "We believe that once this is cleared up, all charges will be dismissed." The Orange County district attorney’s office has been considering charges against Snoop Dogg after authorities last month discovered a 21-inch collapsible baton in his bags as he boarded a New York-bound flight from John Wayne International Airport.

TMZ has learned that rapper Snoop Doggy Dogg (aka Calvin Broadus) was busted for attempting to carry a weapon through an airport security checkpoint. According to law enforcement officials, Snoop attempted to walk through an X-ray machine at John Wayne Airport in Orange County, Calif. late last month with a 21" collapsible baton packed in his laptop computer case. Orange County Sheriffs’ deputies were called to the scene where they detained the rapper and confiscated the weapon. Snoop was not arrested, however, and we’re told the Sheriffs Department file was sent to the Orange County District Attorney’s Office. The D.A. may decide as early as today whether to file criminal charges against the rapper.
