Legendary Country singer B.J. Thomas, 78, announced today that he is battling stage 4 lung cancer.
“I just wanted to take this unique opportunity to share my gratitude to Gloria, my wonderful wife and my rock for over 53 years, my family, friends, and fans. I’m so blessed to have had the opportunity to record and perform beautiful songs in pop, country, and gospel music, and to share those wonderful songs and memories around the world with millions of you. I ask all of you for your prayers during this time and that my music can live on with you.”
Thomas remains optimistic that he will beat it as he seeks treatment in Texas. Therefore, let’s say a prayer for the man that gave us songs like Raindrops Keep Fallin’ On My Head, Hooked On A Feeling, I’m So Lonesome I Could Cry, I Just Can’t Help Believing, (Hey Won’t You Play) Another Somebody Done Somebody Wrong Song, Don’t Worry Baby, Whatever Happened To Old Fashioned Love New Looks From An Old Lover, and the Growing Pains’ theme As Long As We Have Each Other.
Last night, Dr. Dre was rushed to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center with a brain aneurysm according to TMZ. The singer spent the night in the ICU. Some reports say that he has since been moved out of the intensive care unit.
“Thanks to my family, friends and fans for their interest and well wishes. I’m doing great and getting excellent care from my medical team,” Dre wrote on Instagram. “I will be out of the hospital and back home soon. Shout out to all the great medical professionals at Cedars. One Love!!”
Dre is the third celebrity, that we know of, that has been in Cedars’ ICU this week. Larry King spent over a week there with COVID-19, and Tanya Roberts passed away there yesterday from a UTI.
Yesterday, there were reports that actress Tanya Roberts had passed away. However, when Inside Edition was interviewing her boyfriend, Lance O’Brien, he got a phone call that she is still alive. O’Brien didn’t know how to react to the news, but he cried happy tears that she is still with us.
Roberts has been hospitalized at Cedars Sinai Medical Center since Christmas Eve. The actress suddenly collapsed in her home after walking her two dogs and was rushed to the hospital. While she was there, she was placed on a ventilator because she has breathing problems not related to COVID-19.
Doctors thought she was on her deathbed, so they let O’Brien say goodbye to her in person. “When she saw me and I was there, I saw her eyes open up. I felt good. I said, ‘Hey, her eyes are opening. Her eyes are opening.’ They told me that’s just a reflex,” O’Brien told the magazine show. It sounds like it was something more.
Let’s pray that Roberts continues to stay alive and improve. Just like Larry King, 87, who is suffering from coronavirus. NBC News is reporting that he was moved out of the ICU yesterday. He is in the same hospital as Roberts.
Suzanne Somers and her husband, Alan Hamel, have been quiet on social media. Now, the actress is explaining why and what happened to them.
Thank you so much for all of your concern while Alan and I took a break from our normal schedule. As most of you know, I have been struggling for the better part of the year with a fractured hip, and then Alan and I took an unfortunate fall while coming down the stairs at our home. I had an intense amount of pain after the fall that was not resolving – even after having tequila! After several scans, it was determined I had 2 vertebrae out of place which was causing pressure on nerves and creating that tremendous pain.
The good news is that I had neck surgery to correct these issues and now I am on the mend! I need a bit more time to recover before I can join you again at the bar for our virtual cocktail parties. In the meantime, we will keep the sales going on our site. Watch for posts and special announcements on SuzanneSomers.com, and my accounts on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.
As always, I so appreciate your love and support. Be back soon! Love, Suzanne
Hopefully, the 73-year-old actress will be better soon. That and she avoids the stairs as much as possible.
Late last year, Conchataa Ferrell spent several weeks in the ICU with a kidney infection that spread to her blood. She spent the next few months recuperating from her hospital stay and rehab.
Just as the Two and a Half Men star was starting to feel better, she found herself back in the hospital because she felt ill, according to TMZ. After a few days in the ICU, she went into cardiac arrest. Doctors were able to revive her after 10 minutes. However, she was placed on a respirator.
She spent four weeks in the ICU, and then she was transferred to a treatment center. She is still on a respirator, and she is receiving dialysis there. Her husband says she is slowly getting better, but she still has a long way to go.
Hopefully, her body will heal quickly, and the wise-cracking actress will be back doing what she loves and we love watching her do.
