Grey’s Anatomy’s McSteamy to keep steaming up our TV screens!
October 1st, 2006 under Eric Dane, Shonda Rhimes. [ Comments: none ]

Judging by the comments on the "Grey’s Anatomy" writer’s blog after Thursday’s episode, fans of the show were rather pleased to see Dr. Mark "McSteamy" Sloan again. Better news for those fans, a number of whom made references to jaws dropping: He’ll be sticking around for a while. Eric Dane, who made his first appearance on the show last season and closed Thursday’s episode by walking out of a hotel bathroom wearing only a towel, is joining the cast full-time, ABC says. His appearance Thursday closed a scene in which Dr. Derek "McDreamy" Shepherd (Patrick Dempsey) was breaking up (for good, apparently) with his estranged wife, Addison (Kate Walsh). Sloan, of course, was the reason Derek moved to Seattle in the first place, when his former best friend slept with his wife. His ongoing presence will either set up two interlocking love triangles (Meredith-Finn-Derek and Derek-Addison-Sloan) or one big love pentagon. Or, if the Shepherds’ marriage really is done for good, at least give Addison a new man.

I love it just as long as every episode ends with him coming out of the shower in a towel! LOL!

Could you picture Dr. McDreamy as Dr. Christian Troy?
September 28th, 2006 under Nip/Tuck, Shonda Rhimes. [ Comments: none ]

Before the role of Dr. Christian Troy was ever cast Ryan Murphy had first offered the role to Patrick Dempsey, as they were neighbors. He turned it down because he found it to be too dark. It is now one of his and his wife’s favorite shows to watch. All turned out well for him with Grey’s. What a different Nip/Tuck that would have been! Who would you have chosen to play the role of Dr. Christian Troy if I were not available? I’m interested to see your choices….have fun with it.

See you next week,

I do not think the show would still be on the air if Dempsey was playing the role. Not that I don’t love him, but Julian McMahon really nailed the part!

I will let you know whether I chose Eric Dane or Mario Lopez once I am done with my cold shower! LOL!

Did ABC make a mistake moving Grey’s Anatomy to Thursdays against CSI?
September 22nd, 2006 under CBS, Shonda Rhimes. [ Comments: none ]

The biggest battle of the new season — Grey’s Anatomy vs. CSI — was underway last night with ABC’s red-hot medical drama the clear winner. But CBS still managed to be the most-watched network (770,000 viewers ahead of ABC), while ABC finished first in the overnights and adults 18-49. A night of season premieres on NBC settled for the distant No. 3 spot, while Fox’s perennial Thursday audience woes continued. The CW hid under the desk with repeats.

Grey’s Anatomy at 9 p.m. opened season three with a hefty 17.1/25 in the overnights, 25.14 million viewers and a 10.9/26 among adults 18-49. CBS’ CSI was down, but far from out, with its season-premiere at a 14.9/22 in the overnights, 22.04 million viewers and a 7.5/18 among adults 18-49. For comparative purposes, take a look at both dramas versus their year-ago launches.

Grey Anatomy (ABC)
9/25/05 (Sun. 10 p.m.) – Overnights: 13.2/20, Viewers: 18.98 million, A18-49: 8.3/20
9/21/06 (Thurs. 9 p.m.) – Overnights: 17.1/25, Viewers: 25.14 million, A18-49: 10.9/26
Percent Change – Overnights: +30, Viewers: +32, A18-49: +31

CSI (CBS)
9/22/05 – Overnights: 19.3/27, Viewers: 29.02 million, A18-49: 10.2/25
9/21/06 – Overnights: 14.9/22, Viewers: 22.04 million, A18-49: 7.5/18
Percent Change – Overnights: -23, Viewers: -24, A18-49: -26

This is the first time a non-season finale of any series has beat an episode of CSI since April 1, 2004 (and that show was the season-finale of then must see The Apprentice).

CTV airs the wrong Grey’s Anatomy episode
September 22nd, 2006 under Shonda Rhimes. [ Comments: none ]

Angry "Grey’s Anatomy" fans lashed out at CTV on Friday after the network inadvertently aired the second episode of the season rather than the season premiere. One blogger said: "Can I just say that CTV is a crappy irresponsible network?" "Yes, I know errors happen, but this is one of the biggest shows on TV these days," wrote carmen16. "(I’m) just not impressed." "Stupid people who don’t know how to push buttons right. I am most seriously displeased," posted another who identified herself as "Lynda." Others who hadn’t yet seen Episode 2 were concerned CTV’s mistake would ruin it for them. "Now that I know that Canada got next week’s episode, I’m going to be frightened of spoilers constantly until next week!" wrote "jasminelily." CTV spokesman Mike Cosentino said the network took in its regular satellite feed of the show thinking that it was the season premiere. "We were fed an incorrect show," he said Friday. "We are absolutely committed to delivering Episode 1 in its entirety to viewers. …. We recognize the scope of this situation." CTV now plans to air the premiere in its entirety next Thursday (Sept. 28) at 8 p.m. ET. The error came as "Grey’s Anatomy" made its much-anticipated debut in its new Thursday night timeslot. On CTV, the show airs at 8 p.m. ET, while the U.S. version airs at 9 p.m. on ABC. That means viewers could have watched Episode 2 on CTV and then tuned in to the season premiere on ABC. After a cliffhanger finale, "Grey’s Anatomy" fans had waited all summer to see what would happen on the show, which follows the tumultuous lives of a group of Seattle doctors. Consentino called the CTV glitch a "good news/bad news scenario." "The bad news is viewers missed Episode 1 and we’re working on the right solution to remedy that, and the good news is Episode 2 is fantastic."

Jam!

I would’ve been beyond livid too. I can’t even imagine what their switchboard looked like last night.
