What do Dick Van Dyke and Eric Dane have in common? |

Have you noticed that the name of Eric Dane’s character on Grey’s Anatomy, a doctor, has the same name as another famous TV doctor? Dane’s character is named Dr. Mark Sloan, which was also the name of Dick Van Dyke’s character on Diagnosis: Murder. Is the name a tribute to Van Dyke’s character? No, it’s not, according to an ABC publicist. Just one of those funny coincidences. Which is probably a good thing, since fans won’t want to think of Dick Van Dyke wearing only a towel around his waist. Of course, now that I’ve put that image in your head, how can you not think of it the next time you see him?

I had not notice that before, but boy is that cool!

Did Isaiah Washington have other on set fights before the Grey’s Anatomy one? |

Isaiah Washington got into it big time with Patrick Dempsey on the set of ‘Grey’s Anatomy.’ Now TMZ has learned that Washington has had other on-set blowups. A simmering feud between the two actors bubbled over last week, when Washington reportedly got in Dempsey’s face, said some "disgusting things," then allegedly pushed "McDreamy" against a wall and choked him. We’re told the incident was so intense it shut down production for a short time. Now TMZ has learned of two other incidents that make Washington sound like "Dr. McNightmare." In the year 2000, Washington was shooting the TV show "Soul Food" for Showtime in Toronto. Washington and an actress, who played his wife, were shooting a scene in which Isaiah was supposed to give the woman a superficial kiss. We’re told to the horror of everyone, Washington grabbed the woman and planted a "forceful, aggressive kiss." The actress became irate, which then infuriated Washington who began screaming at her. At that point the director stepped in to correct Washington, and the actor went off on him. Executive Producer Tracey Edmonds then took over and Washington went off on her. In 1997 there was yet another incident on the set of the TV show "High Incident." Washington was a guest star on the show, but we’re told the gig ended abruptly after the actor had a physical altercation with a crew member. We’re told it was serious enough that police were called. As for the "Grey’s Anatomy" melee, there are reports that Washington taunted Dempsey by saying, "I’m not your little faggot like [name redacted]," referring to a fellow cast member. Yesterday, "Grey’s" cast member T.R. Knight revealed to PEOPLE magazine that he’s gay, possibly prompted by public revelation of Washington’s outburst.

I would hate to be his publicist because it is going to be tough to get him out of this one? If more stuff like this comes out, he migjt be looking for a new job?

At 9 p.m., the battle of ABC’s Grey’s Anatomy versus CBS’ CSI is shaping up as follows:
Thursday 9 p.m. Grey’s Anatomy (ABC) Overnights: 15.8/23 (#1), Viewers: 22.82 million (#1), A18-49: 9.3/22 (#1)
CSI (CBS) Overnights: 14.4/21 (#2), Viewers: 21.58 million (#2), A18-49: 7.5/18 (#2)
Marc Berman
Wow! I sincerely thought that he was going to give CSI amazing numbers, but I guess I was wrong. I tried watching it, but man CSI has gotten so bad (and I am not referring to K-Fed) I just shut it off. On a Grey’s note, poor McVet.

Update: Patrick Dempsey and Isaiah Washingtom make up? |

There would have been no shortage of bandages if things had really gotten out of hand during an on-set argument between Grey’s Anatomy costars Patrick Dempsey and Isaiah Washington on Monday. Dempsey, 40, and Washington, 43, didn’t need medical aid, but the actors, who both play renowned doctors on the show, nearly came to blows during a spat over shooting issues. "We were like two baseball players . . . nose-to-nose," Washington tells PEOPLE. "We had a difference of opinions while working on set but we’ve resolved it." At issue, says Washington, was "time and (keeping) the production going. The communication was lost in translation." But no punches were thrown: "Our faces are too beautiful for that!," says Washington, who plays Dr. Preston Burke. Dempsey plays heartthrob Dr. Derek Shepherd, otherwise known as "Dr. McDreamy." In fact, just a few hours after the dustup, Washington and Dempsey were sitting side by side at a script read-through. "In close families arguments happen," Dempsey’s rep tells PEOPLE. "They worked it out." Washington even learned a little something about his costar. "I’ve never been that close to (Patrick) before," he says. "He has really pretty blue eyes."

Not since Paris and Nicole has a reconciliation been so staged!

Major troubles on the Grey’s Anatomy set |

They almost needed some real doctors on the set of "Grey’s Anatomy" this week, according to sources who say stars Isaiah Washington and Patrick Dempsey got into a violent brawl. Our spy at the production corroborated a National Enquirer report that a long-simmering feud boiled over on Monday when Washington (Dr. Preston) attacked Dempsey (Dr. Shepherd). The donnybrook is said to have erupted at L.A.’s Prospect Studios when Washington, 43, and Dempsey, 40, started arguing over cast members being late for a scene. According to The Enquirer’s source, the unscripted drama played out like this: "What are we waiting on?" said Isaiah. "Not me," said Patrick. "I’m always ready." "At that point," said the source, "Isaiah said something mean to T.R. Knight" (who plays mild-mannered Dr. George O’Malley). "That’s when Patrick told Isaiah, ‘Pick on somebody your own size.’ "Well, that did it. Isaiah became enraged and grabbed Patrick by the throat and shoved him back a few feet. "Dr. McDreamy [Dempsey’s nickname] almost landed in McDreamland." When Knight demanded that the pair break it up, the source says, "Isaiah called him a bitch. Isaiah stormed off to his trailer to cool off, while Patrick and T.R. stood there in disbelief. "The director and producers got involved, and a meeting was organized with the network execs." Washington came back to the set, and the actors finished their scene, but feelings are still said to be raw, with neither actor offering an apology. "Isaiah is a theater-trained actor who can’t stand the whole McDreamy magazine-cover-boy furor over Patrick," says the source. Our source denied Washington choked Dempsey, but confirmed, "Isaiah said some disgusting things. He was in Patrick’s face. I think Isaiah has issues. There’s an underlying jealousy. But it’s not Patrick’s fault. They’ve put a lot of pressure on him by making him the face of the show. Patrick never asked for it, but he promotes the show whole-heartedly." Enquirer editor David Perel told us "the sourcing on this story is rock-solid." Dempsey’s spokeswoman said, "There was an argument on set. In any close-knit family, sometimes people argue. But everybody made up and went back to work." Our calls to an ABC spokesman and publicist for Washington weren’t returned. Let’s be glad there weren’t any scalpels lying around.

This is not going to end good. There have been rumors of Patrick Dempsey being a Divo on set and wanting off the show, hopefully he will not get his wish.
