Seth MacFarlane came out today and picketed with the actors and staff from his animated show Family Guy at Fox Studios. What his fellow strikers didn’t know is that he donated $1 million to the Entertainment Community Fund, according to Variety.
When he got home, he wrote a message on social media explaining his actions. “Pictured here are some of the incredible members of the Family Guy team this morning. Back in 2010, I was one foot out the door gearing up for ‘Ted’, with no sense yet of the future of the animated series without me. I needn’t have worried. The amazing team of writers, artists, actors, assistants, associates, production staff, etc. etc. were already steering the ship without me, and they’re still doing it today. They are people who have become my lifelong friends, and they regularly remind me of the best part of this business: working alongside people who utilize their talents and abilities to make your shared work better. I hope everyone in this photo takes a personal sense of ownership of Family Guy because it is beyond deserved,” he wrote. “And most importantly, EVERYONE here deserves to make a comfortable living in the industry to which they give so much of themselves. Very proud to walk the picket line with this group today. None of them should have to wait any longer for a fair and equitable deal. Also, I’m so glad no one smelled the booze in my coffee.”
We know MacFarlane for his naughty humor (which I have always found hysterical), but did you know he secretly has a huge heart? I worked for a nonprofit, and I kept hearing how he donated a lot of money to several charities. Then a few years later, I adopted my cat from a place where he donated so much money that they were able to build a cage-free facility for the cats to stay in until they found their furever homes. And these are just a few examples. Who knows what else he has done?
So the next time you question if you should watch a show or movie from him, do it. You know the money he makes will go to a good cause. I tell my cat that is Uncle Seth because, without his donation, I never would have found her.
Family Guy will be back for season 22 on October 1st, and Fox gave a sneak peek of what we can expect at San Diego Comic-Con yesterday!
Now that the show is old enough to drink, they are taking their humor to new lows. And I am here to see how low they will go. Isn’t that why we are still watching after all of these decades?
American Dad has been on the air for 18 seasons and two networks. So that comes to a lot of episodes. How many, to be exact? Tonight at 10p on TBS, they are going to celebrate its 350th episode.
In honor of the milestone, they are giving back in honor of the out-of-the-world character Roger.
Roger (Seth MacFarlane) is a gender-neutral alien, so he has to go in disguise all the time when he is not with the Smiths. Because of that, he dresses up as a woman a lot. So, TBS has joined forces with iconic drag queens, Trixie Mattel and Trinity the Tuck, to create a custom video spot available on TBS’ social media platforms. For every quote-tweet of the video using the hashtag #AmericanDrag, TBS will donate $1 to The Trevor Project, a leader in suicide prevention and crisis intervention for LGBTQ young people.
So go to American Dad’s Twitter, and quote that Tweet! By doing so, you are getting the word out there about American Dad’s 350th episode and helping raise money for the Trevor Project.
On last week’s episode of Family Guy, Meg went to Russia with Stewie and Brian to confront Brian’s hacker. While she was there, she fell in love with Ivan.
Tonight at 930p on Fox, Ivan asks Meg to marry him. And she says yes. Will they really get married, or will something stop their nuptials? After all this, Meg, when has anything gone right for her? Unless this is the first time it does.
Then there is Chris. He brings home his yearbook, and his mom is upset that he is not in it anywhere. So Lois tells him to join an extracurricular activity because it will help him get into college. However, there is no group for him to join because no one wants him. That is, until he finds something the principal is doing at the school that he shouldn’t be doing. So Chris threatens the principal and asks to help him out. So what happens when Lois finds out what they are doing that they shouldn’t be doing? Will she support her older son, or will she destroy him? You know, because Lois ruins everything her children do.
Since this is the last episode of the 21st season, you don’t want to miss it. Because they always save the best for last! And this year, they totally didn’t disappoint us. But, then again, Seth MacFarlane and the writers never do with their brilliance.
The best part of the episode is they taught me something I didn’t know. Am I the only person who didn’t know what a Das Boot is? I can’t believe Fox let them do the storyline that goes with that reference. Which means they had to trick the censors into approving it! That is why I love this show because they know how to get what they want! And it is what we want too.
Have you been watching American Dad since day 1 and wondered how Roger came to the Earth? Tonight at 10p on TBS, we will find out.
The alien landed here in 1947, and he’s taken in by an interesting family. But then there is a knock on the door, and it is Deputy Director Avery Bullock.
And thus begins their cat-and-mouse game that is still going strong in 2023.
American Dad might be in its 18th season, but it is still just as funny now as when it debuted on that other network that cancelled it.
