Peter Griffin gets fired by three different directors on Family Guy tonight
November 5th, 2017 under Seth MacFarlane. [ Comments: none ]

Family Guy is back on Fox tonight at 9p and Peter Griffin gets fired not once, not twice, but three different times. Each time through the eyes of a different director.

In the first firing, it is done by Quentin Tarantino and there will be blood. Lots and lots of blood as this story is told in the style of Pulp Fiction and Kill Bill.

Next up, they go to hipster Wes Anderson. Before Griffin was fired, he was going to do a play at the quarry. Now that is off because he is out of work. But his family won’t let that happen. Will the curtain go up on his production?

Finally, the anthology ends with Michael Bay behind the camera. Much like his movies, I have no idea what was going on in this segment. There are explosions, scantily dressed women, Transformers and explosions. Just like all the other Bay films.

While this episode gets a standing ovation, there is also some sadness to it. It is Carrie Fisher’s second to last episodes and one of Adam West’s final ones. They did great work on this show and it is nice to see them still be part of it even after they are gone.

The second new show to get a second season pick up is…
November 2nd, 2017 under Seth MacFarlane. [ Comments: none ]

Over the summer, NBC picked up the Will & Grace revival for a second season and today Fox did the same for Seth MacFarlane’s The Orville. The Space show launched after an NFL double header to great ratings. Even though, the numbers have declined a little, it has still done really well against Will & Grace, Sandal and football. Therefore the news is not a surprise.

And for people like me, we welcome it. Even though, I am normally not a fan of shows that take place in Space, I am really enjoying this one. It is the right amount of humor, heart and moral lessons. You wouldn’t think that is something MacFarlane would get right, but he nails it.

On his note, here is what he said about the renewal, “#TheOrville has been picked up for season 2! Thanks to all our awesomely enthusiastic fans who’ve made this happen!” You are welcome, now where is my check for watching?

Talking about watching, don’t forget to watch an all-new episode tonight at 9p.

Watch Scott Grimes transform into a Krill on The Orville
October 13th, 2017 under Seth MacFarlane. [ Comments: none ]

Yesterday on The Orville, Seth MacFarlane and Scott Grimes went in disguise as Krills to infiltrate their ship to learn more about them. While on the Space Dramedy they used remotes to transform, here on Earth they used makeup. Grimes shared a video of the transformation and it is incredible to watch.

Adrien Brody has ‘hard feelings’ towards Seth MacFarlane
September 17th, 2017 under Andy Cohen, Seth MacFarlane. [ Comments: 1 ]

Seth MacFarlane has made fun of a lot, and I do mean a lot, celebrities on his shows throughout the years, but who is the one celebrity who was not happy with him mocking them? The other night when the animated genius was on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, a caller wanted to know that very thing. That is when the captain of The Orville (that airs on Fox tonight at 8p) told him it was Adrien Brody. The Oscar winner did not like when Family Guy made fun of nose size back in 2012. Brody can really hold a grudge, but then again so can Halle Berry, who is still upset he kissed her without her permission when he won his statuette back in 2003.

Seriously, I do not what Brody is so upset about, MacFarlane has done and said things so much worse about so many other celebrities, that this is truly nothing and actually quite hilarious. To see how harmless it is, then click here!

The Orville is out of this World good

If you have been craving an old school Sci-Fi show that takes place in Outer Space, then The Orville that debuts on Fox tonight at 8p is for you. Seth MacFarlane loves Space and he perfectly pays homage to the genre with this show.

The series starts off with Ed Mercer (MacFarlane) walking in on his wife cheating on him with an alien (since it takes place in the future) before skipping forward a year. That is when he is the given the job to be the captain of The Orville. This is the first time he is going to lead a spaceship and he does not get the best crew.

First he asks his BFF Gordon Malloy (Scott Grimes) to be the helmsman. Malloy loves playing videogames, and even the future gamers are the same as they are today. If you know what I mean. Alara Kitan (Halston Sage) is Xelayan, who are known for their strength, and she is in charge of security even though she is just 23 years old and has no experience. Dr. Claire Finn (Penny Johnson Jerald) is a very experienced doctor who does not have a lot of faith in Mercer as the Captain, which is why she is there to help him. Isaac (Mark Jackson) is from a machine society who hates humans and took the job to study Earthlings. Lt. Commander (Bortus Peter Macon) is from a single-sexed species and he has no sense of humor. Finally, Mercer’s ex-wife (Adrianne Palicki) is the first office and Mercer has no sense of humor about that. Do you blame him?

Tonight The Orville gets her first test, and we will find out if this not-so-perfect crew can do the perfect save. Next week, they take a chapter from a classic The Twilight Zone episode. While in week three they take on a social issue in an original way that will really get you thinking.

If you are thinking you are going to get MacFarlane’s normal sense of humor with this show, then know now you will not. There is humor, but it is more about the journey of The Orville in space protecting the Union, which is like what they have in Star Wars.

While this is normally not my type of show, I find myself wanting more. It is our Star Trek and we have been needing one since the last version of Star Trek.
