Last month, I was stuck on a JetBlue (where they don’t kick you off if they overbook) flight and one of the movies (for free) they were showing was La La Land (the price was right). Although, I try to avoid Oscars movies, I still opted to watch the Oscars Best Picture. Oh wait. I like Musicals, so I said why not give it a try and find out what all the hoopla was about. It was a much ado about nothing.
Thus, when I saw that Screen Junkies took it on as one of their Honest Trailers, I had to see how honest they would be with it. They were very honest. The best critique is when they said, “Proves it is easier to teach a world class singer (John Legend) how to act, then two world class actors (Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone) how to sing.” Which perfectly sums up this film that starts off with a great opening number and goes down faster than the Titanic (which really won Best Picture at the Oscars) did.
What also makes this Honest Trailer so swell, is the little side trip they take to Moonlight 3/4 of the way through! It is a perfect tribute to Hollywood’s Biggest Night’s biggest gaffe in its history.
Since Keri Russell can’t sing, we sometimes forget she was a member of the Mickey Mouse Club with Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera.
Thankfully, Andy Cohen didn’t forget and yesterday on Watch What Happens Live, he asked her to Shag, Marry, Kill Ryan Gosling, Justin Timberlake and JC Chasez. Which did she chose for each of her former male co-stars? Felicity said she would kill Chasez because he was her friend and he will understand. Will he? I wouldn’t.
Then she said, “Shag, Justin because he is a good dancer.” Finally settling to marry Ryan Gosling. Lamer than lame.
If each of those three guys played the same game, I bet they would all kill her because who doesn’t want to shag and marry Britney and X-Tina over her?

Before Ryan Gosling was dancing his way to an Oscar in La La Land, he was the only boy in Elite Dance Studio’s dance troupe. How ooh la la were the 11 year old’s dance moves back in 1992?

Russell Crowe and Ryan Gosling might be nice to each other in the their movie The Nice Guys, but on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert it was completely another story. When the new dad said that Crowe wouldn’t do the movie with him, the Oscar winner said he was referring to all Ryans. At that point, Gosling’s feelings were hurt and he walked out. The CBS host continued the interview without the heartthrob, but the cutie wasn’t going to let that happen. He kept interrupting it, until the Gladiator fired off a T-Shirt at him from a gun. Then when Gosling finally came back, Colbert screwed it all up.
That would’ve been a much funnier bit if it didn’t last 6 minutes. Colbert needs to learn how to not make a planned bit feel not feel so planned. It should feel more natural and not so stiff. I’ve seen better acting in school plays. What do you think?

Before Ryan Gosling was a cop in Gangster Squad, he was a crook in The Adventures of Shirley Holmes. How cute was the 16 year old in that 1997 episode?
