Heather Mills fears she is being ’snubbed’ in America. Heather, who flew to Los Angeles last week, has confessed to friends that work offers have dried up since news broke of her bitter divorce from Sir Paul McCartney.A friend who saw her in LA said: "She’s in a terrible state. She is under great stress and is painfully thin and anxious. She feels like everyone is ganging up on her."When she was with Paul she was treated like royalty. Now she feels like people are snubbing her." The friend said Heather has been dropped by high-powered New York publicist Paul Freundlich, who has represented Sir Paul for years. Freundlich failed to return calls for comment."When Heather was with Paul, Freundlich helped with all her PR and charity work. But since the split he has said he can no longer represent her," said the friend.The one-time topless model has also allegedly been dropped by IMG, the model and talent agency which booked her for lucrative speaking engagements.Her agent, Chuck Bennett, also failed to return our calls but the Celebrity Service listings agency said he recently removed his name as representing Heather in America, replacing it with a London PR consultant. Heather, 38, is in LA to see medical experts after a recent operation on the leg she lost in a motorcycle accident in 1993.She is staying in Sir Paul’s leased mansion in Beverly Hills, but barely ventured out last week.The friend said: "People have said this trip was to see a lawyer to sue Paul for more money in America, but that’s not true. ‘Now she’s not with him, her currency as a celebrity has gone down sharply’"She told me this was a break purely to see a doctor about her leg and also to get away from the attention in the UK. She is leaving on Tuesday. "She’s worried about being snubbed in Hollywood. People who wanted her when she was Lady McCartney just aren’t calling her now. Her career is cold. No one is offering her anything."A producer at the Larry King TV show, which Heather has guest-hosted twice, said King had no plans to interview her.The producer said: "They haven’t been in touch. Larry would like to have both of them on his show, but if he had a choice, he’d really like Paul. He’s the big star in America. Now she’s not with him, her currency as a celebrity has gone down sharply."

She has also been seen with one.The 38-year-old has surrounded herself with a number of friends and confidantes, among them her sister turned manager Fiona, who have also been armed with video cameras.Her spokesman today confirmed she and her friends were using cameras – but only to collect evidence against paparazzi who are said to be harrassing her.But once source told the Evening Standard: "We are worried a video diary would maximise publicity while trying to gain her maximum sympathy."It shows just how increasingly messy the divorce proceedings have become.

Wives there routinely receive half the communal property.The former model was photographed meeting an American lawyer in London last week after having already hired Princess Diana’s £1,000-an-hour lawyer, Anthony Julius.She then flew to Los Angeles and speculation is rife she is locked in meetings to find out if it is worth divorcing through the American system.Miss Mills has claimed in the past that she is not interested in the Beatle’s £825million fortune but is believed to have already rejected a £30million settlement.It was clear, however, that she has been thoroughly enjoying her VIP treatment and lavish lifestyle.Flanked by two minders, the 38-year-old was spotted enjoying a spot of retail therapy in Beverly Hills yesterday. Her spending spree is bound to enrage Sir Paul as they enter a battle over what slice of his fortune his estranged wife is entitled to.

Sir Paul, who has been caring for his daughter for the past week, sent her with a nanny to the hotel shortly before midday.Thirty minutes later, the handover took place and mother and daughter were then flown to Heathrow by helicopter.A source said: "Paul made it very clear he didn’t want her at the main house for the handover. Heather wasn’t angry or upset. She just shrugged her shoulders and said ‘If he wants to play it that way, then let him.’"She thinks the whole matter could be handled a lot more discreetly for Bea’s sake. But she didn’t want to have a big row over it so she let him have his own way."Three hours later, both parents were at Heathrow to fly to the US. But they avoided each other and flew from different terminals.It is a fresh sign the McCartneys’ break-up is descending into a very messy divorce.The former Beatle boarded a flight for New York, where he plans to spend part of the summer. His estranged wife was on her way for a break in Los Angeles.But while Paul smiled for photographers as he headed for his holiday home in The Hamptons, Heather looked glum as she caught her Virgin flight to Los Angeles.

The increasingly bitter battle between Heather Mills and Sir Paul McCartney has hit the courts after she launched an angry counter-claim to his divorce petition.Miss Mills, 38, submitted her petition at the High Court on Monday and friends said it was likely to focus on how the former Beatle was a ‘controlling husband’ who ‘always put his own interests above hers’.She was responding to his divorce petition which said she was ‘argumentative’ and ‘rude to staff’.Her vigorous response to his criticisms, which were submitted by her new lawyer Anthony Julius, who represented Princess Diana in her divorce from Prince Charles, will take the animosity between the couple to new depths.As well as lining up friends to show how she was forced to submit to all her husband’s demands, Miss Mills has also hired lawyers in America to refute his claims about her behaviour there.’In recent weeks everyone has been able to see how controlling he is by the way he has locked her out of the marital home and written legal letters about her borrowing cleaning fluids,’ said a source close to the former model.’Heather had to put up with that sort of control freak behaviour throughout the marriage.’She also had to put up with the fact that he would change his plans at a whim and expect her to drop everything to be with him. He did not care that she also had work to do.’As far as Heather is concerned, she did not start this. Paul put in a divorce petition which shocked her and now she feels wound up and angry.’

I love how she says we can see that he is controllong because of his recent actions, but it shows what a bitch she is by taking a million from their bank account, using his helicopter and who knows what else. She just can’t up a winner.
