The Oscars are delayed until to April 25th

Oscars/Facebook

Today, the Television Academy announced that the Creative Emmys is going virtual, they canceled the Governors Ball, and they are still not sure what they are going to do with the Emmys on September 20th. because of the coronavirus pandemic.

While TV’s night is still questionable, the movies’ night is not. The Movie Academy revealed today that the Oscars are moving from February 28th to April 25th. Not only that, they extended the date that studios have to release their films in the theaters. Instead of New Year’s Eve being the cutoff date, the studios now have until the day when the Oscars were supposed to have aired. There goes my friend’s chances of his movie Bloodshot getting a nomination for Best Picture.

According to the Associated Press, this is the fourth time they have been delayed. “The ceremony was pushed back a week because of disastrous flooding in Los Angeles in 1938. In 1968, it was delayed two days following the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. And in 1981, it was put off for 24 hours after President Ronald Reagan was shot in Washington D.C. The 1981 decision was made four hours before the broadcast was scheduled to begin.”

It will be intersting to see where our world will be in April, and if they can go on as they have gone on in the past.

As of now, when it comes to the bigger awards shows, the Tonys is indefintely postposed and no word on the Grammys, Golden Globes and SAG Awards. I am sure the latter two will be affected by AMPAS’s decision. I mean, they can’t have a different eligibility date than the Oscars. Can they?

Was anyone else hoping that Awards season was just outright cancelled?

The Oscars might be delayed
May 19th, 2020 under Oscars. [ Comments: none ]

The Tonys have already been postponed indefinitely. We haven’t heard any news about the Emmys or the Golden Globes. Now comes word from Variety that the Oscars might not happen on February 28, 2021.

Since everything is in such flux, and no movie has been released in theaters in two months, it makes sense that they might want to postpone Hollywood’s biggest night until things are a little more normal. Granted they have nine months to make a decision. A lot can happen in that amount of time, like a baby.

Would you be upset if awards season didn’t happen? I would be OK with that because I hate that season almost as much as tax season.

The production company behind Parasite drops the mic on Donald Trump
February 20th, 2020 under Donald Trump, Oscars. [ Comments: none ]

Donald Trump had one his bizarre rants at a rally tonight. He went off on the movie Parasite because it won Best Picture at the Oscars this year. He does not understand why a movie from South Korea won the award. Did he see it? Nope. He just doesn’t like it because the country is not giving in to his stupid trade war.

Well, when NEON, who produces the film, heard that he bashed their Oscar-winning film, they had the perfect response for him. They wrote, “Understandable, he can’t read.” Unless someone reads that tweet to him, he will never know about it. However, we will. Because we do read.

Now, let’s talk about him saying it should’ve been Gone with the Wind. I thought he hated the wind because it blows whatever is left of his hair revealing how bald and how white his skin is.

Oh, and even though Sunset Boulevard was nominated for 11 Oscars, it did not win Best Picture. However, just like he will always be impeached and a Razzie winner, Parasite will always be the Oscar’s Best Picture of 2019.

At least if Lady Gaga and Glenn Close lost, they lost to a great speech

I will be honest with you, I have not seen any of the films nominated for the Oscars tonight (I tried a few and got bored). Therefore, I don’t know who deserved it and who did not.

I was under the impression, like most, that Glenn Close was going to win Best Actress. If not her, then Lady Gaga. Well, they both lost. Olivia Colman won for The Favourite. Even though she was not the favorite to win, her speech was the winner of the night. It was worth her winning just for that.

BTW Lady Gaga’s speech for winning Best Song was not that Shallow. I was crying with her as we watched as A Star Was Born This Way!

I don’t think that Kevin Hart helped his case
January 4th, 2019 under Ellen DeGeneres, Kevin Hart, Oscars. [ Comments: none ]

Ever since Kevin Hart resigned from hosting the Oscars, he has not done any press. Now that he has a movie coming out next week, he is back doing the talk show circuit. His first stop was Ellen and Degeneres talked to him about homophobic tweets.

The host gave him six minutes to talk about it and he took all the time allotted to him. It was all me, I and Kevin Hart. Not, I am sorry that what I said was hurtful and I have learned a lot in the last 10 years since I sent out those tweets. All he did say about it was, “I know I do not have a homophobic bone in my body.” That is not enough. Which is why many people are mad at him,

Well, not DeGeneres. That is because she called the Academy and asked them to give Hart the hosting job back. They told her they wanted him back. At first, he was hesitant, but then he told the host he reevaluate his decision.

Even though the Academy said they would take him back, no word if ABC will. That is because they fired James Gunn and Roseanne Barr for the same thing. Although, Gunn’s case is much closer to Hart’s and he did not get his directing job back. Gunn jumped studios.

Therefore, I do not think Hart should host the Oscars. I am saying that even after lobbying for him to get the job for nearly two years, with The Rock.

Now, when it comes to him whining about having to apologize over again. It is part of the job. Hugh Grant, Rob Lowe, Charlie Sheen and Christian Bale have to do it, so does Hart. You don’t want to become a Michael Richards. Remember him?

I think Hart needs to get a crisis management publicist to help him. Then he needs to talk to African-American gay men to understand why his tweets are so harmful to them and their community.

How do you think Hart did during the interview?
