Although it's been 4 years this December since One Direction split up, most of us are still struggling to get over it. Thankfully, Niall, Liam, Zayn, Harry, and Louis have all launched their own successful solo careers, spanning various different genres and giving us all a taste of what each member is capable of. Styles in particular has released some fascinating material, with his latest single "Lights Up" proving that the 25-year-old has a number of strings to his bow. But even with the media spotlight firmly on Harry, there are still plenty of things we don't know about the British singer. So, without further ado, we've picked our 3 favorite things that you may not know about Harry Styles.
He Celebrated 1D's Debut Album Success With…a Mattress
Although it was a shoo-in that One Direction's debut album would top the US Billboard chart, it still represented a remarkable achievement for the band. But those who thought that this would go to Harry's head were mistaken – instead of partying long into the night, he celebrated the band's chart topping album by purchasing a new mattress. The fact that the members have stayed grounded despite their success is just one of many reasons why they are still loved across the globe and will continue to be supported in their future endeavors.
He Played Tattoo Roulette on Live TV With James Corden
Harry already has a plethora of tattoos, so what's one more? Right? Well, when One Direction made an appearance on James Corden's late night talk show, the band played tattoo roulette, with the band member picking the box that contained the words "Tattoo" having to get the words "Late Late" inked on their body. Tattoo roulette differs slightly from the adrenaline-fueled traditional casino game in that players generally pick phrases out of a hat. However, James Corden is on trend when it comes to pioneering new versions of roulette and there are a number of up-to-date versions currently growing in popularity. Evolution live roulette at Aspers.com, for example, makes use of HD cameras so that users can play from their mobile devices while simulating the experience of being in a real life casino. Ultimately Harry Styles knows what's hot and what isn't – and he even got a new tattoo out of the experience. What's not to like?
He Can Play the Kazoo
As well as having the voice of angel, Harry can juggle and more impressively, play the kazoo. Back in 2011, he responded to a number of fan questions asking him about the instruments he can play. He tried to play down his kazoo mastery, explaining that it's "one of the easiest instruments to play" but went on to reveal his frustration with learning the guitar. Thankfully, ex-bandmate Niall has since give him a few lessons, and he seems pretty proficient with the strings between his fingers.
With Harry's solo career blossoming, the sky really is the limit for the singer. His latest single has received rave reviews; and with a debut album expected out some time next year, it appears that we will be seeing much more of the young Mick Jagger lookalike. And we couldn't be happier about that.
Back when Louis Tomlinson was 14 (yes James Corden, he said 14) he was in a different band. Well, I guess they were trying to drag him down because he revealed on The Late Late Show yesterday that they kicked him out and didn’t tell him. But it’s OK, he had the last laugh. I mean he did go on to be one of the five members of One Direction and that lead guitarist, where is he? That is the story of his life.
When it comes to him calling out Corden for not listening to his answer, he is now my favorite member of 1D. That was just the best song, I mean diss, to a late night host ever!
I like Corden, but I have to admit Tomlinson is right. The CBS host does not listen to guests enough. He spends too much time trying to make a joke out of their answers or making it about himself that he misses what they are saying. He gets good answers, but they could be even better if he let them say all they have to say or did better followup!
Time to turn the lights up because Harry Styles has some new music out and a video to go with it. What makes Lights Up even better is that he spends more than half of it topless. Which makes me wonder what the song sounds like. Joking, I heard it and it is very British pops from the late ’80s. A sound that seems to suit him even when he is not wearing one.
Stevie Nicks was the first woman induced into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame twice yesterday and she spoke with the press. They asked her why she chose to have Harry Styles introduct her and she said, “Well we met a long long time ago actually. And what I really loved about Harry is that when he decided to make a solo record from NSYNC…”
You could actually hear the needle scratch the record when she said that. As we all know, he was in One Direction and not NSYNC. However, in her defense, all the boy bands sound and look alike after your first favorite one. Thus, they truly are the same thing to her and probably most of the musicians that have been inducted into the farce.
Now that we don’t know when One Direction is ever going to get back together again, it looks like Niall Horan has looked for alternate means to make money. Case in point, here he is working for James Corden on The Late Late Show as a water boy. Does that mean he has hit hard times? Nope, he was just having some with his buddy, who been there for him since way before he was famous.
Way before both of them were born, Barbra Streisand was extremely famous. Yesterday, the CBS host and the legendary singer went for a ride in her car, something she rarely does these days, for Carpool Karaoke. What’s even rarer is that is the first time she ever sang out loud in her car. Crap, I was doing when I was in driver’s ed. Much to the dismay of my teacher and the other kids in the car.
Not much was revealed, but she has a great story about the time she called Steve Jobs to fix her Mac computer.
A highlight from their trip was when she corrected him because he messed up a lyric in Memories. Guess you can say his memory is not that good. Something he better get corrected before he stars in the movie version of the crappy musical Cats.
