Watch the trailer for the Jerry Springer Show doc
December 11th, 2024 under Jerry Springer, Netflix. [ Comments: none ]

In the ’90s, American daytime talk television changed for the worse with the likes of Montell Williams, Maury Povich, Jenny Jones, and Ricki Lake. However, the show that was most notable for trash TV was The Jerry Springer Show.

We watched the fights, the tears, the cursing, the fights (you have to mention it twice), and so much on our television sets. But did you ever wonder what really went on when the cameras weren’t rolling?

Netflix is going to show us that in Jerry Springer: Fights, Camera, Action.
This jaw-dropping, premium two-part series will tell the story of The Jerry Springer Show as it’s never been told before. Packed with extraordinary first-hand testimony and revelations from show insiders, the series explores how this daytime talk show became one of the biggest and most outrageous TV hits of the nineties. But behind the entertaining facade lay some darker truths. As we hear from the producers and ex-guests of The Jerry Springer Show, a murkier picture begins to emerge of the destruction it caused, raising renewed questions about who was responsible, and how far things should go in the name of entertainment.

The two-part doc starts streaming on January 7th.

Ed Sheeran’s heartwrenching Christmas song
November 26th, 2024 under Ed Sheeran, Netflix. [ Comments: none ]

Richard Curtis gave us Love Actually in 2003, one of the most iconic Christmas movies of this century. On December 4th, he is finally giving us another holiday film called That Christmas.

Curtis wanted to make the movie a little more magical, so he called his friend Ed Sheeran and asked him to write a song for his Netflix animated film. Today, the singer and the streaming service released Under the Tree.

“Richard Curtis made my fav Christmas film, and TV special,” Sheeran said. “He came round my house in 2021 and showed me a rough of his new one, then asked me to make a song for it. How could I resist. Having kids, I struggle to find great great movies for very young kids to watch at Christmas, and this ticks all the boxes. This song is written about a character in the film who wants to spend Christmas with his dad, but doesn’t get to. It’s a heartbreaking scene, and something so many people go through every year being alone at Christmas. Hope everyone loves the song.”

Even though it brought tears to my eyes, I still love it.

It sounds like I am also going to love the movie. That Christmas follows a series of entwined tales about love and loneliness, family and friends, and Santa Claus making a big mistake, not to mention an enormous number of turkeys!

Get the tissues ready because it sounds like there are going to be some moments that are going to make you cry. Actually, I think it is going to give us all of the feels. Just like Love Actually did.

Cameron Diaz announced that she was retiring from acting after the shitty remake of Annie with Jamie Foxx in 2014. So you would think she would never want to work with him again.

However, he was the only person who could coerce her to return to acting. So she got back in action to star with Foxx in Back in Action.

Years after giving up life as CIA spies to start a family, Emily and Matt find themselves dragged back into the world of espionage when their cover is blown.

Outer Banks is five and done
November 4th, 2024 under Netflix. [ Comments: none ]

Netflix announced today that they picked up Outer Banks for a fifth and final season.

The co-creators & executive producers Jonas Pate, Josh Pate, and Shannon Burke released this statement about the final episode of the popular series:

Dispatch to all Pogues:

Seven years ago, in the summer of 2017, we came across a photo of teenagers on a beach at dusk during a power outage. That photo sparked an idea for a story of four best friends who only want to have a good time all the time. From this beginning, we imagined a mystery that would lead to a five-season journey of adventure, treasure hunting, and friendship.

At the time, seven years ago, it seemed impossible that we would really get to tell the whole five season story, but here we are, at the end of our fourth season, still chopping away.

The fourth season was our longest and hardest – but most rewarding – to produce. The season ends with a feature length episode, which we think is our best, most powerful episode. We hope you feel the same way.

Now, with a little sadness, but also excitement, we’re putting Season Four behind us, and are turning to Season Five, in which we hope to bring our beloved Pogues home in the way we imagined and planned years ago. Season Five will be our last season, and we think it will be our best yet. We hope you’ll join us for one more paddle out to the surf break.
P4L,

Josh, Jonas, and Shannon

Even though Netflix announced the final season today, the second part of the fourth season will premiere on November 7th.

Pogues, are you sad about this? I have never seen an episode, so I am not.
