There have been several incarnations of Wednesday Addams throughout the decades. She has been played by Lisa Loring, Christina Ricci, Chloe Grace Moretz, and now Jenna Ortega.
Up until now, Wednesday has been part of The Addams Family. However, on November 23rd, she is getting her own series on Netflix from Tim Burton.
Ortega, who is playing the lead role, explains how her version is different than the ones that came before her. “Wednesday is currently a teenager, and we’ve never seen her as a teenager before. Her snarky, snide remarks might not necessarily sound as charming when they’re coming from somebody who should probably know better than a 10-year-old girl,” the actress said.
“That was a balancing act. We didn’t want to make her sound like every other teenage girl, but we also didn’t want to make her too ignorant. And we’ve never seen her on screen this much. Any other time you’ve seen Wednesday, she’s been the one-liner, the end of a joke, she always hits it, and I think that’s what people really love about her. But in this show, every scene is Wednesday. There’s an opportunity to give her a bit more dimension, and she becomes a bit more of a real person, which I don’t think we’ve ever seen before.”
I can’t wait to see what Ortega brings to the part because she is the actress to watch for her generation.
Back in 2002, Robert Rodriguez brought his 4-year-old son, Racer Max, to the set of Spy Kids 2: Island of Lost Dreams and took a photo.
Twenty years later, the director is still bringing his little boy to the set. However, this time, his son has a bigger role in the new Spy Kids movie. “Just wrapped a new SPYkids for Netflix, working with my son Racer Max,” the proud pop wrote. “First foto is from the set of SPYkids 2 in 2002. Not much has changed, only now he’s co-writer, co-producer, and a little heavier.”
Gotta love when the kid follows in his father’s footsteps, and the father wants everyone to know how happy he is about it.
If you are like me and have eagerly been awaiting a premiere date for the final season of the series that Netflix saved after NBC cancelled it, then I have some great news for you. The first half of it will debut on November 4th.
If that news isn’t satisfying you on this 8/28, here is some more about the passengers who were on Flight 828. “When you turn on the next episode, it’s two years later, and not only is Ben still deeply in the depths of depression and trauma over the loss of his wife but you’ll of course recall that that was only half the tragedy,” series creator Jeff Rake tells Tudum. “The other half was the kidnapping of his infant daughter and tragically, two years later, she’s still missing.”
And then there is Cal. He might look like an adult, but he is still a kid with no memory of how he is now all grown up.
I don’t know about you, but November 4th can’t come soon enough.
Netflix released the first teaser for Tim Burton’s take on The Addams Family if the family was just about Wednesday going to a private school with “people” that are just like her.
My biggest take from the trailer is that Jenny Ortega can do anything, and she is one to watch. However, I don’t know if I will watch it when it comes out because I am so over Tim Burton. You either like him or you don’t, and I am of the latter.
13: The Musical goes from the Broadway stage to the Netflix screen, and the streaming service made the show a man! I don’t know what that means, but basically, I am saying they did an excellent job with it.
Evan Goldman (Eli Golden) is so excited about his Bar Mitzvah in NYC that he can’t wait for the big day. The only problem, his parents recently divorced, and his mom (Debra Messing) is moving him back to Indiana to live with her mother (Rhea Perlman).
Now, his plans for the perfect Bar Mitzvah are ruined because he doesn’t know anyone there. That is until he meets outcast Patrice (Gabriella Uhl). She spends the whole summer hanging around with him, and they become best friends.
However, on the first day of school, that changes when he tries to become friends with popular kids Kendra (Lindsey Blackwell), Brett (JD McCrary), and Lucy (Frankie McNellis). They immediately take a liking to him, and he leaves Patrice behind.
Let’s talk about his new friends. Lucy is best friends with Kendra. Kendra and Brett like each other and spent the summer writing back and forth. Lucy didn’t know, and she has a crush on Brett. Lucy will do anything to get Brett.
Kendra and Brett have never kissed, and Evan comes up with a plan for them to lock lips. When Lucy finds out about his plan, she tells Evan if they kiss, no one will go to his Bar Mitzvah. Now, he has to decide what to do.
What will Evan do? Will he get his perfect Bar Mitzvah? You just have to sing and dance with him and his friends to find out!
I love musicals, and I thoroughly enjoyed this one. Netflix did a really great job producing it, so it feels like it was created more for the big screen than the little one.
Plus, all of the kids delivered. You forget you are watching young teens starring in this coming-of-age musical.
This is the perfect film that you can enjoy with the whole family. I can’t wait to watch it with my nieces, one of whom is 13. And now I have the song stuck in my head again. Oh yeah, be prepared to have all of the songs stuck in your head for days! And that is not a bad thing.
