How many of us wish we had neighbors that are as caring as our family? Tonight at 10p on NBC, The Village is the story of one building in Brooklyn where the residents are just that.
Enzo (Dominic Chianese) used to live in The Village, but his son thought his aging dad would be better off in a nursing home. Sarah (Michaela McManus) works there and she also lives in the building. She has arranged it so that one of her patients, Nick (Warren Christie) will get to live there too. He recently came back from Afghanistan where he lost his leg. When Nick goes to move in, he is greeted by the friendly super and bar owner, Ron (Frankie Faison), who welcomes him with open arms. As they are talking, cops come to arrest Ava (Moran Atias) because they say that she forged her immigration documents. Her neighbor Ben (Jerod Haynes) is a cop and tries to vouch for her during the arrest. It does not work. Ron calls his wife, who is a social worker, to help out. She calls their neighbor Gabe (Darren Kagasoff), who is in law school, and asks him to be her lawyer. He says he cannot help her because he hasn’t graduated, but that won’t stop Enzo’s grandson from helping out. And we come full circle.
Enzo’s friend/roommate passed away. When he gets one that he does not like, he asks Sarah to help him get rid of the new guy. She has problems of her own. Her teenage daughter, Katie (Grace Van Dien), who she had as a teenager, is pregnant. It takes a village to raise a child and Katie is going to have just that. Especially, since Enzo asks his grandson if he can move in with him and his girlfriend, and Gabe says yes.
Those are just a few of the stories that take place in this building where the neighbors actually care about each other.
The World is full of heartless people these days, so we need shows with heart. The Village is just that. To me, it is up there with New Amsterdam in that department. All heart and no bull. It is not a procedural where we have to solve the mystery of the week. It is not a superhero show where they have to save the day every week. It is not a medical show where they make us think we have an incurable disease every week. It is just a show about family helping each other out. Don’t we need more shows like this on television? Watch so we can get more of this than the scare of the week. I promise you will adore it as much as me and my cat.

Superstore is back and we are on Cloud 9 |
| March 7th, 2019 under NBC, Superstore. [ Comments: none ]

Superstore is finally back with new episodes tonight at 8p on NBC, and they have been stocking up the laughs.
The episode starts off with Amy (America Ferrera) and Cheyenne (Nichole Bloom) going to Cloud 9 Academy to see if they can become managers. Amy is overzealous and very intense about the class, and that causes a problem between the two friends. It gets so bad, it might cost Amy her dream of becoming a manager. Well, not as much of a dream, but a necessity for the new mom.
Talking about new moms, Dina (Lauren Ash) has not seen the baby she gave birth to since that day. When Glen (Mark McKinney) brings her into work, he asks Dina to look after her. Dina thinks she does not have feelings for the baby she was a surrogate to but turns out she does. In fact, she builds a safe place for the two of them in the store and it winds up becoming a makeshift nursery for the shoppers’ kids. Now she and Garrett (Colton Dunn), the two people who should not be around kids, are surrounded by them. Will the children be safe?
Finally, Mateo (Nico Santos) is applying for asylum so he can stay in the country. Jonah (Ben Feldman) asks him what is his reason for applying and he does not have one. Therefore, they have to come up with something, so they decide he should be part of a controversial group. What do they come up with and how will they get their co-workers to sign up.
Like I said they have been stocking up on the humor and we just need to sit back and laugh.

Superstore will remain open for business for season 5 |

The cast and crew of Superstore are on Cloud 9 today because they found out today that their working-class sitcom was renewed for season 5. Making it the longest running comedy on the NBC, that started on the network.
Is it a surprise? No! Not only has it remained consistently strong in both the writing and acting departments, but it is also still doing well in the ratings.
When I watched the pilot, I was not sure how I felt about. Now, I love it. NBC has made Thursdays Must See TV again with Superstore, The Good Place and Will & Grace. Hopefully, they will keep these shows together because I look forward to Thursdays now.
BTW wasn’t it cool to see Tracey Pakosta, Co-President of Scripted Programming, NBC Entertainment give them the news about their pickup. Clean up on aisle 5 because they will be celebrating tonight.

Good Girls is the female empowering show we need! |
| March 3rd, 2019 under Jessica Chastain, NBC. [ Comments: none ]

For decades, it has been the boys who commit the crimes, but NBC’s Good Girls changed that. Tonight at 10p, Beth (Christina Hendricks), her sister Annie (Mae Whitman) and their friend Rubi (Retta) are back and Detroit will never be safe again from housewives.
When we last left off, Beth’s husband Dean was being held at gunpoint by Rio (Manny Montana) and she had a gun of her own. Shortly after the episode starts off, we will find out what she does next.
We also get to find out how police officer Stan (Reno Wilson) reacts to finding out his wife is a criminal. She choose the life of crime to help pay their daughter’s never-ending medical bills. Will that sway him or will he arrest her and her friends?
Meanwhile, Annie (Mae Whitman) is sleeping with her baby daddy who is trying to make a baby with his wife. They need to keep her affair secret from everyone, especially their daughter Sadie (Isaiah Stannard), who identifies as a boy.
If that is not enough, they still need money. How are they going to get it? You know these three women will find a way. Will Rio let them be out on their own?
Coming up this season, there will be a death, a baby, betrayals, change in power, sex with and without someone, fights and so much more.
I would say sit back and relax, but this show keeps on the edge of our seats. It truly is the show us women need because it shows our men when we are bad, we are even better Good Girls.
