Jay Leno is losing pounds but will he gain viewers at 10p
August 5th, 2009 under NBC. [ Comments: none ]

Today in Pasadena Jay Leno came out to talk about his new show The Jay Leno Show that will be premiering on NBC at 10p on September 14th. I will admit I have never really watched his show when he had it on at late night, but he won me over today. Largely because you can feel his excitement for it. He says that he was getting burned out with The Tonight Show and is looking forward to change things up. He told us to prep for the show, he started running 4 miles a day and so far has lost about 12 pounds. So that is why I ask with his shrinking size, will he get more of an audience. I really think so.
The show will start out with a monologue like his old one, but after that things will change. He has a bigger set now with no desk and he will start to incorporate the audience more. Also added was a green friendly race track where the guests on the show will be able to race each other like Shaq vs Cameron Diaz. Two changes when it comes to the guests is that there will only be one or two of them a night. Another big change are the musical guests. Instead of having one musical guest every night, they will only have two a week and they will be mash ups of band. Another change is Jay wants to make stars of his comedians as correspondents like Rachel Harris. Leno said he is also talking to Brian Williams about doing a segment on his show about stories that were not good enough for the Nightly News.
Well as we know the affils are concerned about not having a drama lead into their news and Leno knows they are the ones that make up NBC. So what he is going to do is close out the show with his popular bits like Jaywalking and when he is done with the show he will say its time for your news and it will go straight into your local news. There will be no commercials in between him and the news.
So is there any tension between him and Conan? None at all. The two are friends and will not be competing for guests. They will work it out among themselves. BTW on Conan note, NBC says that Letterman is winning with the audience numbers, but Conan is winning in the key 18-49 advertising demographics. Nice spin and interesting.
So when Leno premiere on September 14th, will I be watching? Yes I will and it is no longer about curiosity about what he can do, but because he won me over with his excitement!!!

Did you have as much as the girls on America’s Got Talent?
August 5th, 2009 under America's Got Talent, NBC. [ Comments: none ]

Last night we got to see the first round of live performance on America’s Got Talent and there were some $1 million performances that are worthy of having their own show in Vegas. I had a lot of fun watching Lake Houston Dance and Grandma Lee, but did they do enough to move on to the semi-finals? Find out tonight on NBC at 9p to see who will advance and who will go home. And as we wait to find out the results, the host’s (Nick Cannon) wife Mariah Carey will perform live on the show as well as the show’s biggest success story Terry Fator.

NBC to redo The Rockford Files
July 30th, 2009 under NBC. [ Comments: none ]

Earlier in the week it was announced that NBC’s Head of Entertainment was leaving his job and I had high hope that the network would get better with a new person in charge. That hope was quickly dashed because Variety is reporting that they are redoing The Rockford Files. Didn’t they learn from their huge failure of both Bionic Woman and Knight Rider that remaking old shows doesn’t work? Now I should try be positive because they hired House’s creator David Shore to write the show, but even he is not to do it for me.

America’s Got Talent made me cry and smile!!!
July 30th, 2009 under America's Got Talent, NBC. [ Comments: 3 ]

Last night on NBC’s America’s Got Talent they announced who would make it through to Hollywood and there was one whose results made my cry. Marcus Terrell auditioned with three back up singers and the Judges told him then to dump the girls and he said no. So when it came time to advance to Hollywood the Judges told him because he said to consider them still in the act that he would not move on. Knowing how much this meant to Marcus, one of the women said if they dropped out, would they consider advancing him. Marcus being a noble man, said it was up the 3 females to make a huge sacrifice. In unison all three admirable ladies say “Take him.” Now it would majorly be f*cked up after that noble gesture for the Judges to still turn him down, so yes will see Marcus go solo and hopefully his 3 BFFs in the audience cheering him on the loudest.
Seriously that made cry when I watched it on TV, again on the net and finally as I typed this post and I am so not PMSing. After all these tears, he better be good on his own because you don’t want to see what happens if you touch my cold heart and then suck!!! But I think he will do me and those 3 amazing women proud!
While the Marcus’ story made me cry, Eleisha Miller’s made me smile. Isn’t that 8 year old the most precious little thing. She is just so tiny, but she has a personality as big as her home state of Texas. You just want to root for her because she wants this so much and you want it so much for her. Look at how excited she was when she got the news. And even though she is only single digits, her parents taught her well and she went and gave the Judges a big old hug. Poor little thing lost her show in the process, but the way she played it off was so awwdorable that even the judges melted as much as me. Eliesha might not have the best voice out there, but what she lacks there she makes up for in personality! She is going to be a star and she has my vote to win America’s Got Talent!!! Talking about voting, Tuesday at 9p on NBC it starts being our turn to say who we want to move on! So make sure to tune in and vote for who you thinks has a million dollar talent!!!

Maura Tierney is looking good!!!
July 26th, 2009 under NBC. [ Comments: 1 ]

We are seeing Maura Tierney for the first time since she announced over 2 weeks ago that she was having a tumor removed from her breast and she is looking good. The Parenthood star went to see her former-ER star John Stamos perform with the Beach Boys before he starts his stint on Broadway with Bye Bye Birdie.
Hopefully she will continue doing well and will be back to star on the NBC show Parenthood soon!!!
