Where is the Rock of Love Bus when you need it?
October 23rd, 2009 under NBC. [ Comments: none ]

So Bret Michaels is part of the latest Celebrity Apprentice and he took a Zen break in the middle of a NYC street during filming. The first thing I thought of when I saw this picture was where is the Rock of Love Bus when you need it? I kid, I would never wish something bad on someone. Especially when how do you top a stage falling on him at the Tonys?

Southland cancelled before its second season premiere
October 8th, 2009 under NBC. [ Comments: none ]

We kind of knew that Southland was in trouble when NBC pushed its premiere date from September to October, but today things got even worse for the John Wells because The Hollywood Reporter is saying that the show has been cancelled before it even aired its second season premiere. The show was suppose to begin airing on October 23rd, but the network stopped production after 6 episodes today and as of now it is not known if anyone of them will air at all.
This is one of the very very very few shows that actually was picked up for a second season from the old head of the network, and with its cancellation I think means that Parks and Recreation is the only show of his that survived to a second season.
The cancellation of Southland is a very sad day for NBC because that means there is one less scripted program on their network that already devotes 5 hours to talk a night, 2 hours a week to reality, their weekends are repeats and/or football and now a news program will be taking over Southland’s slot. So that means only 7 hours a week are devoted to scripted programming during their primetime lineup. And it will be even less once America’s Got Talent comes back in a few weeks. How does NBC expect to get groove their back when they barely have anything to watch and be loyal to? Sad.

UPDATE: The Shield and The Unit’s show creator Shawn Ryan Tweeted it best, “Everything you need to know about NBC at this moment in time: They even managed to lose the Seinfeld reunion to another network.” So ouch, but sadly so freaking true.

NBC’s Day One only going for two nights
October 2nd, 2009 under NBC. [ Comments: none ]

The only new show on NBC I was looking forward to was the mid-season replacement Day One and now Variety is reporting that they had their episode order cut down big time. The show was suppose to go for 13 episodes, but as of now it will only be a 4-hour mini-series. I say as of now because if by some miracle it does well in the ratings NBC will pick it up for more episodes. At this rate come November NBC’s lineup will pretty much only include The Jay Leno Show and America’s Got Talent and that is pretty sad. Comcast is reportedly looking to buy NBC, I hope they do and change things up big time because NBC needs a huge a$$ overhaul.

Aziz Ansari talks about Parks & Recreation!
October 1st, 2009 under NBC. [ Comments: none ]

Aziz Ansari plays Tom Haverford on NBC’s Park and Recreation that airs tonight on NBC at 8:30p. When the show was premiering he was doing press and he did Jimmy Kimmel Live! He was so freaking funny on the show, that I check out Parks and Recreation just because of him and I have been hooked ever since.
Parks and Recreation is a half-hour mockumentary that looks at the exciting world of local government. So you would think with a show like that that there would be a lot of improv and he told me nope they pretty much keep to the what the writers wrote. So it just goes to show what a great job everyone who works on does because it seems like it is unscripted when it is actually scripted.
Aziz plays Tom who is an aspiring politician and he is playing the game to get ahead. He is kind of goofy, likes to hit on the ladies and in ways a ki$$ a$$, but that is what politicians do. And Aziz told me is nothing like his character.
A big part of the show is the pit that they Leslie Knope (Amy Poehler) is trying to convert into a park. Aziz told me that pit really exists. So I had to ask if he has thrown anyone down into the pit and he told me he hasn’t, but “Amy has pushed in several people. She just doesn’t like, you know, production assistants, you know, ‘hey, you didn’t get my dry cleaning in time.'” Of course he was joking, I think. But it is that type of sense of humor that makes the show so freaking funny!
Parks and Recreation is back for its second season on NBC and he told me this season is so much better because now everyone involved with the show knows their characters better. So far they are two episodes in and you can really see what he is talking about. So what is a big thing we will get to know about Tom this season? We will get to meet his wife, but he wouldn’t tell me when or how but it will be one of those TV moments that will leaves us saying OMG! Here is how he described her to me, “Well Tom really really like his wife cause she’s super hot and she’s a doctor so she’s super rich.”
Aziz also told me that tonight’s episode on NBC at 8:30p is really funny one. Tom and Leslie judge the Miss Pawnee Beauty Pageant. I can’t wait to see what comes out of Tom’s mouth because you know won’t be appropriate!!!
So tune into Parks and Recreation tonight and every Thursday at 8:30p for a show that gets funnier every week. And if you don’t Amy will push you into the pit…
BTW Aziz Ansari has been touring the country with his stand-up, so if you want to see him live check out his site to see when he is coming to city near you!!!

NBC’s Southland in trouble?
August 26th, 2009 under NBC. [ Comments: none ]

NBC is postponing the premiere of Southland by four weeks from September 25th to October 23rd. The show was originally set to premiere against Fox’s Dollhouse and the former NBC show now on CBS, Medium. but NBC has decided to move it away from them. According to The Live Feed the network is doing to give it some marketing support. Nice excuse, but as one of the very few shows from the recently ousted head of NBC Entertainment, I think that is a bad sign for the show. Plus most shows that debut in late October don’t make it to May.
I have never seen an episode of Southland and I have it heard it is not that bad, but with this recent development I think I will skip checking it out because it sounds like it is not long for the TV world.
