Even though the fall TV season is over three months away, KSL in Salt Lake City told NBC that it will not be airing The Playboy Club. KSL President and CEO Mark Willes said, “The Playboy brand is known internationally. Everyone is clear what it stands for. We want to be sure everyone is clear what the KSL brand stands for, which is completely inconsistent with the Playboy brand.” And Programming Director Michelle Torsak added, “Our intent is not to tell people what they can and cannot watch, but rather to share programming with our audience in accordance with our mission.” The article also said that the network and the station will try to find a new place for the show and I hope they succeed.
I really have to wonder if KSL made the decision before or after they saw the pilot because I don’t think that they have seen it. I have seen the pilot, and there was nothing sexual about it. In fact I think it was even more tame than other shows that already air on NBC like Law & Order: SVU which is about investigating sexually violent crimes. Yes, The Playboy Club will deal with premarital sex and homosexuality, but so do other shows. Love Bites is a lot more racier than TPC and yet KSL is airing that? Also I found Whitney more offensive (and that is just not because of the attempted sex scene), and KSL is airing that. They also aired Outsourced which showed a naked jumping from bed to bed with their privates pixelated. Believe me I have no problem with shows airing sexual content, I have a problem with stations or groups banning it. And I have a bigger problem of them doing it without seeing the show first.
I mean KSL is banning it because as they say it is associated with “The Playboy Brand”, yet the show is called The Playboy Club and not Playboy Magazine. The two are two different entities, and you think they would have done their research before they pulled the tail off the Bunny costume.
The Playboy Club is an enjoyable show, that I think has a bright future whether a station opts to air it or not. So to all the people in Salt Lake City, when this show makes it debut on whatever station is smart enough to pick it up, please watch it and show KSL what a huge mistake they made.
UPDATE: Here is NBC’s statement on the matter, “While we are disappointed with KSL’s decision, we are confident that the show will find another home in the Salt Lake City market.†So let’s hope that Salt Lake City also won’t be disappointed by missing out this beautifully shot period show that will have everybody talking about how just how great it is, and that another station in the market will pick it up! Wouldn’t it be perfect if whatever station picks it up does much better in the timeslot than KSL does with whatever show they decide to replace it with?
Some say Howie Mandel is the butt of all jokes on America’s Got Talent and once he does the butt of all jokes, Piers Morgan doesn’t like it. The two judges are frenemies and the bald one loves to play practical jokes on the mean one! Well while they were in Atlanta, Howie put on a pair of shorts with a fake rubber butt and the CNN host thought it was the real deal. C’mon Piers you should know better, what are the chances of the germaphobe wearing a$$less underwear? Who knows what germs can go up your bum and infect you?
Maybe if Piers took the stick out of his he would find that video funny. Butt as funny as that video was, it is not hysterical as the below one!!!
You can see what other mischievous things Howie Mandel does on America’s Got Talent Tuesdays at 8p and Wednesdays at 9p on NBC!!!
Yesterday NBC finally debuted the long awaited Love Bites and I can’t believe they got away with the stuff that they did. And I am so happy they did because it was an envelope that needed to be pushed!
Kyle Howard loses his job then walks in on his fiancee moaning and finds out that she was given the Mazaradi of vibrators as a gift. Lindsay Price then tells him that it helped her to have her first orgasm. Which of course makes his day even worse. So he decided to simulate the vibrator with his tongue. Watch the video to see how he does because it will have an ending that will leave you saying oh yes, yes, yes, yes!
And that wasn’t the only risque thing on the show, Greg Grunberg and Jennifer Love Hewitt (who played herself) decided to join the mile high club.
If the show continue to be as good as last night’s debut, I can’t wait to watch every Thursday on NBC at 10p!
America’s Got Talent is back for its sixth season tonight on NBC at 8p and Piers Morgan and Howie Mandel said this is the best season thus far. A few weeks the judges including Sharon Osbourne and host Nick Cannon met with reporters to preview the upcoming season and the CNN anchor said there was one city that had more good acts than some of the previous entire seasons. Morgan said, “We had better talent in Atlanta over three days than we’ve had in some entire seasons this year, and I have been on every season. And there was one act in particular that I said at the time and I meant it was the most exciting audition I’ve ever seen in Britain or America. The talent level has been incredible this season. People won’t believe what they are seeing.” He didn’t say what that act was, but I wonder if it is the one that Howie described later on. The bald headed comedian described one audition that stood out, “We have a burlesque act who pulls doves out of her privates.” The poor doves is all I can say about that.
But that isn’t the only risky or risque act that we will see during the auditions because here is what Howie told us, “That being said, it’s been the most dangerous year. We have had some thrills and spills that I have never seen before. I mean, I came this close to seeing almost near death experiences right in front of my eyes, and they were not planned. And I don’t know if NBC is going to air them, but I’m telling you that it’s probably the most dangerous show on television, the most exciting show on television, and I’m thrilled to be part of it because to be witness to this besides watching somebody take the journey and come from obscurity to hopefully the next big star, I’m seeing things that I have never seen before. There isn’t a place to see this on television. There aren’t places that have these kind of performances live.”
There really isn’t, so don’t miss a single minute of the show that launched the career of a man who has now made over $100 million for playing his dolls!
First creator Neal Bear said he was leaving Law & Order: SVU, then Mariska Hargitay re-signed for only 13 episodes and now Chris Meloni will not be back for the 13th season. According to TVLine talks broke down between NBC Universal and him today and he will no longer be on the show. They added that they are looking for a big name to replace him. Hey Dick Wolf, Charlie Sheen is available!
But in all seriousness, is it too late for NBC to cancel this show and bring back The Event or Outsource? Because without Stabler and Benson, is there any reason to watch? They are the show and without them it is just Law & Order: LA after they killed off Skeet Ulrich.
BTW it is sad to think that after over 20 years, there will most likely not be a Law & Order on the air in the fall of 2012. Not that I watch, but still they have been a TV staple for the last two decades.
