Robbie Williams has vowed to quit smoking. The singer, who smokes up to 60 cigarettes a day, has already given up drugs and alcohol and now wants to kick another unhealthy habit. Robbie – who was fined £60 for smoking onstage in Australia last week – is so desperate to quit nicotine he has even planned to visit a hypnotist on New Year’s Eve. He said: "I want to give them up for good in 2007. Seeing a hypnotist on New Year’s Eve seems a good idea to me." The ‘Angels’ singer has made several attempts to give up cigarettes in the past including a fitness drive last summer. However, Robbie gave into temptation after just a few weeks – because he was worried about piling on the pounds. He admitted at the time: "I smoke loads and I really don’t want to anymore. But I’m terrified of giving up. I’m a fat bloke inside this body and the minute I stop smoking, I will put on weight." Robbie’s tour rider includes four packets of cigarettes and four ashtrays.

OMG 60 cigs a day. My lungs just felt his pain. As someone who used a hypnotist to quit smoking, I highly recommend it! Best thing I ever did and I hope one of the best things he does!

Dixie Chicks Set To Split After The Grammys?…. Country trio the Dixie Chicks are hatching a secret plan to split up after the Grammy Awards next February (07) because sisters Martie Maguire and Emily Robison want to concentrate on being great mothers. Insiders claim the siblings are "tired and wrung out" after spending the past three years defending themselves from comments singer Natalie Maines made onstage in London in 2003 – and they’re desperate for a long-term break. The trio became the targets of fierce backlash from the country music world when Maines announced she was ashamed to come from the same state (Texas) as Us President George W Bush. And now insiders claim the sisters have had enough of celebrity and want to hang up their fiddles. A source tells US tabloid National Enquirer, "They feel they’ve come to the end , and they want a break from each other to spend more time with their families." And the insider claims the "passive" siblings are so sick of having to support outspoken Maines, and the controversies she has created have driven a wedge between the trio.

Even if they were to split, you know they will have a reunion tour in a few years.

The hotly anticipated high fashion men’s line Royal Underground is poised to hit stores early November, finally sealing the void in the market for sleek yet edgy men’s clothing. In a collaboration that is unprecedented in the worlds of fashion and entertainment, legendary rock star Nikki Sixx has joined forces with former St John CEO Kelly Gray to launch Royal Underground, which is destined to re-set the bar on of-the-moment, high end menswear. The debut holiday 2006 collection features the kind of elements that would be expected when the seemingly divergent worlds of fashion and hardcore rock collide: dark jeans that are hand-cut and embellished, cashmere sweaters are deliciously soft to the touch and tiny details are scattered throughout, like little secrets waiting to be revealed. These might include jacket linings inscribed with the lyrics from a beloved Mötley Crüe ballad, or a cheeky coat-of-arms. The price points are reflective of the quality of the collection, ranging from $100 for T-shirts to $1,200 for the jackets. They won’t have to wait much longer. The collection bows during the first week of November at select Neiman-Marcus, Bloomingdale’s, and Nordstrom stores nationwide, as well as speciality boutiques like M. Frederic in Southern California and Boogies in Aspen.
First Tommy Lee and now Nikki Sixx, I can’t wait to see what Vince Neil comes up with! To be honest, I actually like some of the stuff from the Royal Underground line!

Are CDs like Disco and dead? |

EMI Music Chairman and Chief Executive Alain Levy Friday told an audience at the London Business School that the CD is dead, saying music companies will no longer be able to sell CDs without offering "value-added" material. "The CD as it is right now is dead," Levy said, adding that 60% of consumers put CDs into home computers in order to transfer material to digital music players. EMI Music is part of EMI Group PLC (EMI.LN). But there remains a place for physical media, Levy said. "You’re not going to offer your mother-in-law iTunes downloads for Christmas," he said. "But we have to be much more innovative in the way we sell physical content." Record companies will need to make CDs more attractive to the consumer, he said. "By the beginning of next year, none of our content will come without any additional material," Levy said. CD sales accounted for more than 70% of total music sales in the first half of 2006, while digital music sales were around 11% of the total, according to music industry trade body the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry. CD sales were worth $6.45 billion and digital sales $945 million, the IFPI said.

Personally I think CDs could have a fighting chance if they lowered price and actually released CDs with more than one good song…but that is just me.
