Barbie saved David Zaslav from completely destroying Warner Bros by beating expectations at the Box Office. Therefore, it was a no-brainer that he ordered a sequel to the film.
That was 2023. And there is no sequel in the works. Now, we know why. Zaslav, who, for some reason, is still at WB, is too cheap to pay Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling what they want, according to The New York Times.
Without them, there is no movie. Without Zaslav, Warner Bros would be better off. Why and how is he still there?
Oh, and if a deal is not signed by December, Mattel gets the rights back. However, if they do, then they have to start over without the current people attached to the WB movie.
Today, AMPAS announced this year’s Oscar nominations, and the snubs were more shocking than who was nominated.
Barbie found itself nominated for Best Motion Picture of the Year, and Ryan Gosling is up for Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role for playing Ken.
Yet, Margot Robbie, who played the title character, and Greta Gerwig, who directed the Oscar-nominated film, were not on the list. Therefore, people were shocked and dismayed.
However, no one more than Gosling. So, he released a statement about them being ignored.
I am extremely honored to be nominated by my colleagues alongside such remarkable artists in a year of so many great films. And I never thought I’d being saying this, but I’m also incredibly honored and proud that it’s for portraying a plastic doll named Ken.
But there is no Ken without Barbie, and there is no Barbie movie without Greta Gerwig and Margot Robbie, the two people most responsible for this history-making, globally celebrated film.
No recognition would be possible for anyone on the film without their talent, grit and genius.
To say that I’m disappointed that they are not nominated in their respective categories would be an understatement.
Against all odds with nothing but a couple of soulless, scantily clad, and thankfully crotchless dolls, they made us laugh, they broke our hearts, they pushed the culture and they made history. Their work should be recognized along with the other very deserving nominees.
Having said that, I am so happy for America Ferrera and the other incredible artists who contributed their talents to making this such a groundbreaking film.”

The full trailer for Barbie is out, and it is so like cool. So much so that I want to live in their world because it’s perfect.
That is until Barbie (Margot Robbie) ruins it and has to come to our world. And Ken (Ryan Gosling) travels with her.
I can’t wait for all of this to be unboxed on July 21st. Especially because it looks like they were having so much fun being exaggerated versions of the dolls we loved so much!
