Tonight on Lifetime starting at 7p Sheri Shepherd gets her own sitcom and Rita Rocks is back for its second season.
As much as I wanted to hate Sherri because I can’t stand Sherri Shepherd, I actually liked it. The sitcom is about a recent divorcee who finds out that her ex-husband’s much younger mistress is 6 months pregnant as she is dealing with single life again after 10 years of marriage. The paralegal/wanna-be-actress/comedienne tries the dating and learns the hard way being a Cougar can be illegal! But don’t worry she won’t be doing alone she has her friends to back her up! The show has that sitcom feel and you know me, I believe in saving as many of them of them as a I can because they are slowly becoming extinct. That and the show actually made me a laugh a few times.
From Sherri to Rita Rocks, Nicole Sullivan and Tisha Campbell-Martin are back for a second season and both of their waistlines are rapidly expanding. That is because both actresses were pregnant in real life while filming the first half of this season. Nicole’s pregnancy was written into the show while Tisha’s wasn’t. On tonight’s season premiere Nicole hid her baby bump behind a guitar, a big purse and anything else she could find until her character finds out she is preggers, while Tisha is getting fat because she can’t stop eating. You have to admit that is an original way to handle the pregnancies! Another change coming up this season is Ian Gomez is out because he got another show and Tisha’s real-life husband will join the show as their newest band member and the man she has a crush on! What hasn’t changed just how funny this show!
So check out both shows for a laugh tonight starting at 7p and again tomorrow at 10p which is their normally scheduled time on Lifetime!
DietTribe is back for its second season tonight on Lifetime 9p with 5 new friends trying to lose weight. Four of the five friends have been given a goal to lose 50 pounds (1 was given 35 pounds) in 120 days. Jessie Pavelka is going to teach these five friends how to take off the weight and keep it off. For the first weigh-in (two weeks after they started) they are doing great. But by the second weigh-in (next week’s episode) some of them are going back to their old ways. Will they be able to take off the weight and change their lives for the better? Tune in to Lifetime every Friday at 9p to find out!
Another reason to tune in is that you get a lot of great dieting tips and who doesn’t need more of those? What I also like about this show is that is friends helping friends. And not many reality shows have that same dynamic!
Bones star David Boreanaz and his wife Jamie had a little Angel yesterday. According to People their daughter Bardot Vita weighed in at 7 lbs., 14 oz.. Bardot is their second child, they also have a son, Jaden Rayne, 7. I can’t wait to see the pictures of their little Angel because with her genes you know she is going to be beautiful!
David wasn’t the only TV star to become a parent for the second time yesterday, Rita Rocks star Nicole Sullivan welcomed her second son. People reports that Beckett Edward Packham came into the world weighing 8 lbs., 6 oz. and measuring 21 1/4 inches long. She has another son Dashel Pierce, 2.
Lifetime has picked up Drop Dead Diva for a second season according to The Hollywood Reporter. The 13 episode pick is almost a no brainer because besides doing well in the ratings, the show landed guest stars like Rosie O’Donnell and Paula Abdul before it even aired. Personally I am happy about that Drop Dead Diva will be back because this show is so darling that it leaves you in a good mood after you watch it. If you haven’t seen it yet, check it out on Lifetime on Sundays at 9p.
BTW am I only the one who didn’t realize that April Bowlby who plays Stacy on DDD also played Kandi on Two and a Half Men until this Sunday? Who knew she was really a blond?
Drop Dead Diva is a cute show that is perfect for a Sunday night before you go to work Monday blues.
Deb is a pretty, skinny woman who only cares about appearances. Jane is an overweight lawyer who only cares about her job. Both of them will die at the same time, but only one of them will come back in the other woman’s body. Deb needs to prove she is more than a beautiful woman as her soul takes over Deb’s body. She will have learn to adjust to having her memories in Jane’s body with her cravings and brilliant brain. Deb will use some of her finesse to make Jane be all she should’ve been and in the process Deb will learn to be a better person. As the pilot episode goes on you will see Deb isn’t that bad when she is stripped away of her beauty. I can’t wait to see how this series unfolds and to watch Deb become a better person.
Brooke Elliot is great as the skinny girl trapped in a plus-size body. It is nice to have Margaret Cho back on TV as her BFF and co-worker!
So tune into Drop Dead Diva on Lifetime at 9p for a show that will liven up your Sundays.
