Tonight at 8:30p on ABC, Dr Ken (Ken Jeong) is the MC at a banquet honoring Dr Kevin O’Connell (Will Yun Lee). His wife dated a doctor with the same, so what are the chances it is the same person. Just like tomorrow and the day after that will be sunny in LA, 100%.
Dr Ken always thought that Dr O’Connell was Irish because of his name, so he wasn’t threatened by him. That is until he meets him and finds out he was adopted. Not only is he Korean, but he is an 15 on scale of 1-10. Everyone at the office is in love with him because he’s perfect.
Dr Ken decides to surprise Allison (Suzy Nakamura) by bringing home her former lover. Let’s just their kids, Molly (Krista Marie Yu) and Dave (Albert Tsai), are more impressed by him. Yet, that doesn’t stop Dr Ken from being mad at his wife for not telling him about how hunky her ex is.
So much so, he decides to Roast his rival at the banquet. Will it all backfire on Dr Ken or who are we kidding of course it goes horribly wrong. How wrong? You just have to tune in for another hilarious episode because it is just what the doctor ordered you to do!

While 2 new fall dramas, NBC’s Blindspot and ABC’s Quantico, were given full season orders already, up until now no new fall comedy was able to say the same thing. That has all changed because Dr Ken was prescribed the back 9 episodes today.
The news is not a surprise because it’s the first sitcom to build on its lead in, Last Man Standing, since the Tim Allen show moved to Fridays 2 years ago. Not only that, the Ken Jeong show has held up in the ratings during it’s first three weeks.
When you take the important ratings out of the mix, the pickup is well deserved. They say laughter is the best medicine and Dr Ken is full of laughs.
Tonight at 8:30p, Ken Jeong goes from being a doctor who became an actor to an actor playing a doctor on ABC’s Dr Ken.
You know how they say, don’t judge a show by its pilot? Well, Dr Ken is the perfect example of that. When I watched the pilot the first two times, I didn’t like. Then ABC posted the third episode and I said let me see if it got better. It does. The pilot tries too hard and you can feel that with the jokes. But now that they have been picked up, they found their groove. That makes me happy because I like Jeong and want to see his sitcom succeed.
Dr Ken is one of the top General Practitioners in the San Fernando Valley, but he tops the list of worst bed side manners. He makes fun of his patients to their faces. For example, when a patient comes in diagnosing himself with a hemorrhoid from the internet, Dr Ken tells him he needs to get a colonoscopy and calls him a Web MD-bag when he refuses to get one. That is just one example of how horribly he treats his patients who he has no patience for.
That is his day job, his night one is being a loving husband and father to a teenage daughter and pre-teen son. His wife, Allison (Suzy Nakamura), is a psychotherapist, and she tries to keep her husband sane. That is easier said than done. Like tonight when his daughter Molly (Krista Marie Yu) takes her driver’s test and passes. He doesn’t want her having the freedom that comes with it. Then there is his son Dave (Albert Tsai) who wants to a do a mime act for his school’s talent show and Dr Ken tells him how lame it is. Which it is, let’s be honest. And to be honest, the show needs to focus a lot more on the kids in future episodes because their comedic timing is as perfect at their TV parents.
Like I said, Dr Ken’s pilot is weak, but with some help from a script doctor it bounces back really fast. So don’t give up on it after tonight, give it another shot because it is addictive. It is the prescription we all need for a Friday night after a long work week.
Every now and again, I see a photo of some random celebrities posing with each other and I think what brought this interesting group together like that. The latest photo that blew me away has David Hasselhoff, Rick Fox, Hulk Hogan and Ken Jeong in it. So why is the quartet posing for the camera? They’re just having some fun during a break from filming the future classic Killing Hasselhoff. If this movie doesn’t sweep the Oscars there is something very wrong with Hollywood.
http://instagram.com/p/siVRWxCYt7/?modal=true Kevin Hart likes his personal space when he’s talking to someone and Ken Jeong doesn’t believe in it. So Hart made a video to show how his Ride Along 2 costar violates his private bubble.
I don’t know what it is about this video, but it just brings a smile to my face. It was a true honor to watch it. Don’t you just think there is something so sweet about the two of them?
