Friends scare the shit out of their friends on Scare Tactics
August 29th, 2024 under Jordan Peele. [ Comments: none ]

Scare Tactics aired on Syfy from 2003-2013. And ever since, people have been able to sleep at night without the fear of their friends and family trying to scare them,

Those peaceful days are over because Jordan Peele played Frankenstein and resurrected the camera prank series for USA Network.
Each episode will feature devious pranksters setting up friends and family, known as targets, in hilariously twisted scenarios that blur the lines of reality, horror and comedy. From a casual dinner party that takes an unexpectedly cannibalistic turn to a pair of newlyweds that are the proud new parents of something … less than human, the targets will navigate one unreal decision after another as audiences laugh, jump and are left breathless for more.

Since I am a sadist and watched the first go-around, I can’t wait to see what frights they have planned for unsuspecting loved ones.

Scare Tactics debuts on October 4th.

Scare Tactics is back to scare your friends and family
July 25th, 2024 under Jordan Peele, USA Network. [ Comments: none ]

For 10 years, we watched as friends and families set their loved ones up to be scared on the hidden camera prank show Scare Tactics.

For 11 years, everyone was safe. But not anymore. Because Jordan Peele is reviving the series for USA Network.

“What do you get when you combine Jordan Peele, hidden cameras, unsuspecting people and horror-movie scenarios? You’re about to find out!” said Toby Gorman, President, Universal Television Alternative Studio. “Working with Monkeypaw Productions, NBCU and USA Network to bring one of the most creatively scary and hilarious projects to life has been a phenomenal experience. We can’t wait for audiences to join in the fun of our first unscripted project with Jordan as it perfectly blends horror, humor and reality.”

I can’t wait to see what the man who gave us the most recent take of The Twilight Zone does with the program.

The Twilight Zone entered the Twilight Zone and it’s not coming back
February 25th, 2021 under Jordan Peele, Uncategorized. [ Comments: none ]

One of the biggest shows on CBS All Access is The Twilight Zone. Therefore, you would think that they would want a new season on the rebranded Paramount+. They do, but there is a slight problem.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Executive Producers Jordan Peele and Simon Kinberg have decided that they do not want to do any more episodes. There was no reason was given for the EP’s decision.

I heard rumors that Peele wanted all of the episodes to be aired in black and white like the original run. However, they were streamed in color. It makes you wonder if he wanted things that they were not letting him do?

Candyman. Candyman. Candyman. Candyman. I ain’t saying his name a fifth time
February 27th, 2020 under Jordan Peele, Movies. [ Comments: none ]

Back in 1992, Tony Todd gave us all nightmares as the Candyman. Now, he and the hook are back for a “spiritual sequel” of the classic franchise.

The Jordan Peele take, brings us back to the Chicago Cabrini-Green neighborhood that has been gentrified for the new era. While the area might look all nice and new, they are still haunted by the old, scary legend that is known as Candyman.

Visual artist Anthony McCoy (Yahya Abdul-Mateen II) has just moved into the area, and someone tells about the ghost story that has terrorized the area for as long as anyone can remember. He decides to bring the urban legend back to life with his art, and it has deadly consequences. Will he be able to stop the Candyman before someone else says his name five times into a mirror.

We will find out on June 12th. I am a huge fan of the Candyman franchise, and at first, I was hesitant about this version. Then after watching the trailer and seeing that Tony Todd is going to be in it as Daniel Robitaille , I am excited to watch it. It looks more like a horror movie from the 20th century than the over CGIed ones we have been getting in this one. Those are so fake, I don’t know how people get scared over them.

CBS All Access takes all the color out of The Twilight Zone
June 4th, 2019 under CBS, Jordan Peele. [ Comments: none ]

Almost 60 years ago when The Twilight Zone debuted with Rod Serling, it aired only in black and white. It was not until 1985, the first revival, that the new episodes were done in color. Since then every revival has been done in color including the latest one on CBS All Access.

That was until this week when they decided to release black and white versions of all of this season’s episodes. Would the color-stripped episodes change up the feel of the show? So far I only have watched the last episode in both forms and the answer is hell yes. It gives it the feel that makes the story even creepier. Which helps you travel through to another dimension. “A dimension not only of sight and sound but of mind; a journey into a wondrous land whose boundaries are that of imagination. That’s the signpost up ahead – your next stop, the Twilight Zone!”

Granted, the last episode had a special guest star that made the effect even more fitting. However, I think the rest of the episodes will all benefit by going back to basics.

If you are like me and are going to rewatch them all in the different format, then keep your eye out for the Blurryman in all of them. Someone said they found him in the other nine. Did you spot him before he was revealed in the season finale?

I really hope that CBS All Access and Jordan Peele decide to do this again for the second season. Whoever suggested that they edit the show both ways deserves a big old raise. It was a very smart choice. One that really pays off for fans of the original.
