We have Andrew Garfield to blame for Jimmy Kimmel’s failed joke at the Emmys
September 14th, 2022 under Andrew Garfield, Jimmy Kimmel. [ Comments: none ]

I used to think that Andrew Garfield could do no wrong. I say used to because he did something on Sunday that is unforgivable.

What did he do? Yesterday, Jimmy Kimmel started his monologue by sharing a story about the Emmys. Not the story we wanted to hear, but a story that could’ve prevented the most talked about moment on TV’s biggest night.

As you have heard, Kimmel and Will Arnett did a bit where the talk show host pretended to be passed out on the stage. Instead of getting up and walking off the stage, he continued to lie there as Quinta Brunson accepted her award.

Since Kimmel is not a comedian and has never starred in a sitcom, he doesn’t know when a bit is over. So almost everyone is writing Mean Tweets about him.

So, why is Garfield at fault? Well, during the opening number, there were dancers dancing with fake spears, and one of the heads came off. The spearhead was about to hit Kimmel, but Garfield caught it in time. Therefore, it is Garfield’s fault that Kimmel was still conscious to do that bit.

But then again, had he been hit with it, then the show would’ve probably been over right then and there, and Brunson never would’ve accepted her award that night.

So maybe Garfield did a good thing. I am so confused.

Did the ABC affil in Dallas mean to cut away from Jimmy Kimmel Live’s monologue?
May 26th, 2022 under Jimmy Kimmel. [ Comments: none ]

Jimmy Kimmel has been a very vocal opponent of guns. Therefore, he has been using his platform to speak out against them, especially after Monday’s horrific shooting at an elementary school in Uvalde, Texas.

So yesterday, when WFFA, the Dallas ABC affiliate, cut away from his monologue, fans of the talk show wondered what happened.

When word got back to Kimmel, he responded to the fans on Twitter, “To my friends in Dallas who are asking: I do not know whether our @ABCNetwork affiliate @wfaa cut away from my monologue tonight intentionally or inadvertently but I will find out.”

This morning WFAA apologized for the technical difficulties and explained what happened.
“WFAA extended its Wednesday 10 p.m. newscast for important coverage of the school shooting in Uvalde, Texas,” the station wrote. “Jimmy Kimmel Live! aired immediately following our newscast. Unfortunately, the automated system that triggers commercials aired the first commercial break in error, interrupting Jimmy Kimmel’s monologue. The same technical error also impacted two commercial breaks later in the program, not just the one interrupting the monologue.”

When Kimmel found out what happened, he gave an update to his viewers, “I’ve known the staff at @wfaa personally and professionally for almost 20 years and believe this mistake was made unintentionally. Thanks for reposting and for correcting this error. Sending love to all my friends in Texas.”

Dallas has been a town full of conspiracies since John F. Kennedy was shot there, so I was hoping that this would be another one. Sadly, this is not one of them.

Jimmy Kimmel got COVID-19 again
May 17th, 2022 under Coronavirus, Jimmy Kimmel. [ Comments: 10 ]

Jimmy Kimmel is copying Stephen Colbert. First, the CBS host got COVID-19, then the ABC host got it. Then last week, Colbert tested positive for it for the second in a month, and guess what?

“I’m such a positive person, I tested positive AGAIN. I am feeling fine,” Kimmel wrote. “The great John @Mulaney & Andy Samberg @TheLonelyIsland have graciously agreed to host @JimmyKimmelLive for me tomorrow.”

Hopefully, he will be better soon and doesn’t get coronavirus for the third time. I guess we will have to see what happens to Colber to find out what happens to Kimmel.

Does Jimmy Kimmel really have COVID-19?
May 4th, 2022 under Jimmy Kimmel. [ Comments: none ]

On Monday, Jimmy Kimmel announced that his daughter, Jane, gave him COVID-19. Therefore, he is not able to host his show this week. Consequently, he asked comedian Mike Birbiglia to host the show.

The story of how that happened is pretty cool. Birbiglia texted Kimmel and his wife, Molly McNearney, who is the EP of the show, to see if they wanted to do dinner while he was in town. Kimmel said that Molly tested positive for COVID-19, and he is awaiting his results. Then the host asked if he got it, would Birbiglia host Jimmy Kimmel Live. The comedian was on a plane to LA at the time, and of course, he was like, “Absolutely.” And the rest is Hollywood history.

Yesterday was Birbiglia’s first monologue, and he decided to do a  videochat with the man he replaced to see how he was doing. How is Jimmy feeling? He is wearing two pairs of sunglasses, a Hawaiian shirt, and a straw hat, and drinking an alcoholic beverage at his bar in the house. Therefore, you have to wonder if he is playing hooky? I think it is a little bit of both.

Hopefully, he will be better soon. But in the meantime, Birbiglia is doing a great job! It might’ve been a split-second decision, but it was a wise one.
