Ben Affleck was on The Tonight Show yesterday and Jimmy Fallon challenged him to a game of Pup Quiz. Basically, one of them is asked a question, and if they get the answer right, they get a puppy. If not, the other person does. Although, the NBC late night show changed it up for this challenge. This time the puppies were dressed up as superheroes from DC Comics.
Batman went first, and he didn’t know the name of his doggy. That means the Batpup went to Fallon. Jimmy went next, got the answer wrong and Affleck got Superpup! So even though the two of them don’t get along on the big screem, they got along lovingly on the small one. Which is too arfdorable for words!
Jennifer Garner and Cuba Gooding Jr were on The Tonight Show yesterday and Jimmy Fallon challenged them to a new game of Truth or Door. Basically, they could answer an unknown question truthfully or chose the dare behind the door. OJ Simpson said, “Show me the door,” and dressed up as a Cowboy for the rest of the game. The Alias star also went for the door and was stuck holding three frozen water balloons. Finally, it was the NBC late night host’s turn and he picked truth. That was until he found out, it wanted to know about the night he lost his virginity. Since he wouldn’t answer the who, what, when, where and why, he had no choice but to accept the dare. It was simple, Garner and Gooding were given a paint palette and told to paint Fallon’s face. When they were done, the happy host looked like a scary clown that you would only see in horror movies.
I don’t know about you, but now I really want to know how he lost his V-Card!
Out of all the late night hosts, Jimmy Fallon is the one is the most calm, cool and collected. That was until last night’s The Tonight Show when he lost what should’ve been an easy round of Pictionary. His clue was, “Cat got your tongue,” and he drew a cat and tongue. He did a good job, but Eugene Levy just couldn’t think of what that phrase was. When time was up, the NBC late night couldn’t hide his disappoitment that his partner didn’t get the point. I’ve never seen him lose it like that and I liked it. I really liked it.
When Jimmy Fallon got The Tonight Show, he was given a slick new theme. But yesterday, the man who reunited the casts of California Dreams, Good Burger and Saved By the Bell, got a new theme song from that era. Jesse Frederick, who sang the theme songs for Full House, Family Matters and Step by Step, wrote one for the NBC late night show and it has that perfect TGIF nuance. Not only does it sound like it, the opening reflects that cheesy feel.
One, us TV viewers are so desperately missing. I wish they would bring back catchy theme songs. Who is with me?
One of the requirements of being an actor is that you have to do press to promote your latest project. For Steve Martin that meant that he had to do The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon to promote his Broadway musical Bright Star, even though he didn’t want to. So he sang about not wanting to do it, and it is his best musical performance since Dentist from Little Shop of Horrors almost 30 years ago.
Seriously, this song and dance number was so spectacular, it is one of my Top 10 late night bits ever. Sit back and enjoy it because I know you will.
