On Friday’s episode of Wheel of Fortune, not only did Matt DeSanto solve a puzzle with just one letter, he also went on to be the largest main-game winner. First, he wowed everyone when he was able to solve the puzzle with just the second “E” of The Lone Ranger revealed. Then he kept on winning, so much so he ended the day with $91,892 in winnings. That is the largest amount won by a player in a single episode during the show’s run. Not a bad way to start off 2015!
I don’t know about you, but I always assumed that if you were selected to be a contestant on Jeopardy that you had to be really smart? Well Dan (and Wolf Blitzer) is making me rethink that. It wasn’t his question to an answer that made me contemplate him being on the show? It was the story he shared about his trip to Paris, and he told Alex Trebeck that he thought the sun was the moon. Then he actually added that he still has a problem til this day telling them apart. Ummm, it really isn’t that hard. During the day it is the sun, at night it is the moon. What’s complicated about that?
BTW can you believe that he is a Ph.D student in Physics? Maybe there’s hope for me to get a Ph. D then?

On Wednesday’s Wheel of Fortune a contestant made a guess that was so far off from the answer that some are dubbing the worst guess in the show’s history. Stephen Dryer was trying to guess the lyrics that go with with S-RF C–Y -ERE -W COME, and he guessed it was “surf clay here we go”. Um, it says “come”, so why did he say go? And what is surf clay? I guess the pressure of it got to him.
So do you think this is the worst guess in the show’s run? I don’t.
It was College Week on Wheel of Fortune and it was not a good one for Julian from Indiana University. Even though the wheel was his friend, the board was anything but. First he failed to solve Mythological Hero Achilles, even though all the letters were on the board. How you ask? Because he mispronounced Achilles as Aa-chill-es.
It didn’t get any better for him because he continued to miss solving the puzzles; which was a good thing for Shelby, the contestant on his left, who was able to finish what he couldn’t.
Poor Julian, some are saying he was the worst player in the game show’s run, but I don’t think he was. If he kept spinning on to Bankrupt or Lose a Turn every round or guess J, X, Y or Z every time, then I would agree. Do you think he is the worst player ever on Wheel of Fortune?
On Wednesday night the world was amazed how Emil de Leon solved the Bonus Round Puzzle on Wheel of Fortune with only the first two letters having been revealed. Well, Ellen DeGeneres was so amazed that she will have him on her show this Monday. The best WOF contestant ever explained how he came up with the answer on his first try and it makes sense. Does it mean you or I could do the same thing? Hell-to-the-no!
Then Ellen wanted to see if he could do it again by coming up with her own puzzles for him to solve and of course he did. Proving he really is the best WOF player ever.
Finally, when his segment was over, Ellen had a present for him. It was a New Baby Buggy! A phrase that will probably be on his tombstone in the far far future.
