CBS are the Crazy Ones about their comedies! |

CBS announced today that they picked up The Crazy Ones, The Millers and Mom for a full season. I get why they are sticking with the funny The Millers and the hysterical The Crazy Ones, but I don’t get Mom.
I love Chuck Lorre and I have tried to like Mom, but the show sucks the life out of you. It is so unfunny and depressing, I can’t even muster up a chuckle when I watch it. I am not crapping you because I watched Monday’s episode with Octavia Spencer and I didn’t even feel the corner of my lips go up once. If I want to watch the story of 30-something, soon-to-be grandmother because her teen daughter is pregnant, recovering alcoholic, who can’t pay the bills, I would watch a documentary on it. But I don’t, I watch comedies to laugh not to feel sorry for the characters in it. So when Mom becomes, a comedy let me know and maybe I will reconsider. To be honest I foresee CBS losing a lot of viewers on Monday, November 11th in the 9p hour because that Chuck Lorre hour is not 1/2 punch. It is even a kid slap.
The network really messed up by not promoting We Are Men as the show it was, and not what they wanted it to be.
UPDATE: The CW has it is own news, they picked up America’s Next Top Model for another season. I want to know what pictures she has on the network executives because why else would they renew this show for another season???
UPDATE 2: Fox announced today that not only did they pick up Brooklyn Nine-Nine for the full season, but that the sitcom will air after the Super Bowl. Personally I don’t think it deserves the honor, but then again I also don’t get the show. I tried, but it just wasn’t for me. To be honest I think Dads is a lot more enjoyable than the Andy Samberg show.

The first new show to get a second season is… |

The first new show that will be back next fall is the first one that debuted this year. Fox announced that Sleepy Hollow was picked up for a second season, but didn’t announce whether or not the show would get an extended first season. Which I am assuming it will not.
I am so happy about this news because this is my favorite new drama of the fall. It has proven to be witty, funny, suspenseful and enjoyable and no other fall drama can say that.

The Simpsons are back for their 25th, that’s a quarter of a century, season tonight at 8p on Fox and I still find myself laughing out loud a few times during each episode. On tonight’s show they take on Homeland, and who knew that Emmy winning drama could be so funny. Well it is only a laugh riot when Carrie goes to Springfield and investigates Homer. Now that Homer has been turned what does he have planned? You will just have to watch the animated show that never gets old.
Then 8:30p, The Belcher family goes camping in the woods on Bob’s Burgers. When Bob and Linda get lost, it is up to their kids to find them. But someone else will find Tina, Gene and Louise before their parents do. Will they still be a family of 5 after this season premiere? You will just have to tune in to find out.
Then Fox ends the night with American Dad with an episode that will never be cloned. When Snot and Steve realize that they are never going to lose their virginity, they decide to do something about it. They each find a girl and clone her to be their perfect date with a special cloning machine at his dad’s office. Only problem is their dream dates come out the machine as babies. Will their dates be old enough to sleep with by prom in a few days or will they stuck being fathers instead of lovers? You just have to watch this unique episode to find out.

Dads and Brooklyn Nine-Nine bring the laughs |

Seth MacFarlane has yet another new show on Fox tonight at 8p and this time it is a live action sitcom. Dads will make you appreciate your own pops because he can’t be as bad as Seth Green and Giovanni Ribisi’s fathers are on the show.
Warner (Ribisi) and Eli (Green) are best friends who own a video game company, and now they have a common problem. Both of their dads live with them and they debate who has the worst father. You will have to watch the show to see whose is worse, Eli’s (Peter Riegert) dad, David, or Warner’s (Martin Mull) dad, Crawford. I have watched the first two episode and they are equally the Worst Father’s of the Year, but luckily they have good sons that love them either way.
Yes Dads is controversial because it is a MacFarlane show, but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t have heart. It is those tender moments on this show that make it Fox’s best new comedy.
Which leads me into Brooklyn Nine-Nine that debuts at 8:30p. I tried to like this show because I think Andre Braugher is a very talented actor, but after three viewings I hated it more and more each time. To me it is like The Office but at a police station. So for you people who are missing out on the NBC sitcom, you will probably like this show. But for people like me who tried but could never get into that show, than this is not the one for you.
Ray Halt (Braugher) is the new Captain of Brooklyn Nine-Nine and he wants to his detectives into shape. Something that is hard to do because they are not the greatest unit. His toughest cop will be Jake Peralta (Andy Samberg), who is great at his job, but crappy as an employee. Will Halt be able to whip him to shape? Of course not because what this show be without their tension?
I should mention this show is from two of the guys from Parks & Recreation, but it just doesn’t have that same feel that P&R has that makes it an Emmy nominated show. I can’t place the problem, so maybe you will be able to do it for me.

Sleepy Hollow rides into Fox and our hearts tonight! |

I will be honest with you, I hated all of Fox’s new comedies (although Dads is growing on me) and I am not fan of most of the fall dramas (midseason is a different story), but that all changed after I finally watched Sleepy Hollow this weekend. This show that debuts on Fox at 9p tonight is head (no pun?) and shoulders above all the other dramas for the fall.
Sleepy Hollow starts out with Ichabod Crane (Tom Mison) on the battlefield in Tarrytown when a masked horseman suddenly appears out of no where. After several shots, he doesn’t go down until Crane chops off his head. Now the Headless Horseman goes down and Crane does too because he was mortally wounded in the fight.
Then the episode picks up in present day and Crane is awakened from his grave in a cave. He doesn’t know where he is and more importantly when it is. If that isn’t bad enough, there is a someone going on a killing spree by chopping people’s heads off and Crane will be the lead suspect.
Detective Abbie Mills (Nicole Beharie) is a week away from leaving Sleepy Hollow for Quantico, but her plans are derailed when she starts investigating the murders of people in her hometown including her partner.
While almost no one believes that Crane didn’t commit the murders, Mills thinks he might be telling the truth when he reveals only something that she knows. So she partners up with him and they learn there is so much more to the Headless Horseman.
The show takes on the legends from the book along with the myths of the town and a story from the New Testament to give us a modern day take of a classic that will have you hooked by the opening credits.
Where the show goes from the premiere, I don’t know and I can’t wait to find out. And I am sure you will feel the same way.
But before Sleepy Hollow debuts, Bones is back on Fox at 8p. Brennan is still having issues with Booth who refused her proposal for an unknown reason. He still can’t tell her that he said no to protect the lives of innocent people that Pelant threatened to kill if he said yes. So now in order to save his relationship, he will have to find a way to tell her without Pelant finding out. Will he be able to do it or will his love be lost forever?
Freddie Prinze Jr makes his first appearance on the show, and if you blink you will miss it. Well maybe more than blink, but his recurring role will be explained tonight after his brief debut!
