Jimmy Fallon does manual labor for Emmys!
August 25th, 2010 under Emmys, Jimmy Fallon. [ Comments: none ]

Jimmy Fallon is the host of the Emmys this Sunday on NBC and it looks like the network is putting him to work. I know that NBC has reportedly been struggling with finances after last season’s ratings, but are they in such dire straights that they are making the host of the telecast, the producer and the President of the Academy roll out the red carpet instead of the professionals? They are really making Fallon earn his paycheck. Maybe Conan O’Brien is lucky he got screwed by Jay Leno because otherwise they would have made him lie down naked and act like the red carpet…you know because he is a red head and could pass a red carpet! Especially after the sun got a hold of him and turned him beat red from a sun burn.

To see the rest of the list that includes much deserved noms for Mike O’Malley for Glee and Betty White for Saturday Night Live go to Variety!

I think this was a great year for the Emmys because they were not as elitist as year’s past and nominated shows that people watch and like. Yes their favorites still got in there, but so did other shows like Glee, Modern Family, Friday Night Lights and True Blood. Way to go!
Congrats to the Modern Family cast (except for poor Ed O’Neill and Rico Rodriguez) who got well deserved nominations, too bad the Academy didn’t think the show was worthy of one. Also dissed in that category was The Big Bang Theory, but Jim Parsons received his second nom. Also nominated from CBS Monday comedies were Neil Patrick Harris for How I Met Your Mother and Jon Cryer and Holland Taylor for Two and Half Men and I don’t think any of them were really deserving this year. Not that I don’t love them, but both comedies were not as good this year as they were in season’s past. At least Charlie Sheen and the actress who played his ex-fiancee’ on the show did not get noms. Glee of course got several noms and Lea Michele is the new America Ferrera…if you know what I mean. Congrats to Chris Colfer, Jane Lynch and Mike O’Malley on their noms for Glee. Now when it comes to the Showtime noms for Nurse Jackie and United States of Tara, I know the shows are 30 minutes long but does that really mean they are comedies?
Now when it comes to the drama category, I have to admit I don’t watch most of the noms. Although I am happy for Michael C Hall for Dexter, Kyle Chadler for Friday Night Lights, Andre Braugher for Men of a Certain Age, Michael Emerson and Terry O’Quinn for Lost and the show for getting the nom.
Now it will be interesting to see will the Emmys stick with their favs or will they branch out for the newer and better shows? Let’s hope they change things up.

Why would they ask Jimmy Fallon to host the Emmys?
May 4th, 2010 under Emmys, Jimmy Fallon. [ Comments: none ]

I was looking for a reason not to watch the Emmys and now I got it because Jimmy Fallon is going to host the awards show when it airs on NBC on August 29th. I am asking myself why they chose him over all of the other proven talent at NBC and here is what Executive Producer Don Mischer said in the press release “Jimmy has many talents. He can sing, he can dance, he does impersonations, and he does it gracefully and with ease. I think he’ll make a terrific host and we are really looking forward to working with him.” I wonder how many games of Beer Ping Pong he had to play with them to get the job and to get them to say that? The only way I will watch him hosting the Emmys is either the shows and people I like get nominated and/or he can get some more TNBC reunions together for the telecast!
Hey NBC was Tom Papa not available? I am being sarcastic because he would actually be worse than the Late Night host. Seriously Marriage Ref would be so much better and funnier if they got rid of Papa.

Jeff Probst needs to follow his words…
September 21st, 2009 under Emmys. [ Comments: 12 ]

(photo from WireImage)

So yesterday at the Emmys Jeff Probst for some reason won his second consecutive Emmy for Best Reality Host and when he was in the press room he made a comment that makes me wish he would follow what he says. According to The Envelope when the Survivor host was asked what he thought about The Amazing Race winning its 7th consecutive Emmy (the only show to ever win the Emmy in this category since it was established) for Best Reality Show, he said “Maybe ‘Amazing Race’ should do what Oprah did and pull itself out of competition.” Ouch! Look who’s talking? Can someone please explain to me why he keeps winning for Best Reality Host? I voted Survivor off my Island after the second season partially because he just bored me. To me he doesn’t have the personality or likability like the other hosts that were nominated…Ryan Seacrest, Heidi Klum or Tom Bergeron. I just don’t get it. Maybe next year Cat Deeley will not only be nominated, but she will win! I mean how many Emmys does he have to win, until he decides to do an Oprah and pull out?
Now saying all of that, he is kind of right about The Amazing Race! LOL!

Way to go Neil Patrick Harris for doing such amazing job hosting the show. When it comes to winners I am bummed about Family Guy, but I am OK with wins for Michael Emerson, Kristin Chenoweth, Bryan Cranston, Jon Cryer and I called this one when I reviewed the show Toni Collette for United States of Tara. The rest are pretty much Emmy standard, But I can’t complain too much because they finally nominated outside the box. Let’s hope next year they continue that trend!
