OMG! Eddie Murphy is going to host the Oscars this year and I am so excited. Oh wait, it’s 2011 and not 1991 scratch that.
Hopefully he will do a better job than he did with Vampire in Brooklyn, Holy Man, Bowfinger, Showtime, The Adventures of Pluto Nash, I Spy, Daddy Day Care, The Haunted Mansion, Norbit, Meet Dave, Imagine That and Tower Heist. Oh wait, we haven’t seen the last one just yet, but that is how he got the job. Brett Ratner who directed the movie is producing this year’s Academy Awards. I wonder if they will regret their decision after Tower Heist bombs at the box office. Kind of like that year when they got Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin to host the show together after they were in that film, you know the name of it. It was a huge hit, the big movie of the holiday season. C’mon…
It is too late to get James Franco back? I kid, Eddie Murphy should do better than him. That is if he remembers how funny he was when he first started out in the business and was a 19 year old kid on Saturday Night Live. I miss the Raw Eddie Murphy, maybe he bring back Buckwheat on February 26th because I don’t believe he is dead. Heck maybe he can even bring back his Marvelous SNL co-star Billy Crystal to help him out on the big night!!!
BTW can I do one of those annoying toldjas because the day after Brett Ratner got the job I predicted that he would get the stars of his upcoming dud Tower Heist, Eddie Murphy and/or Ben Stiller to host the show. Actually it wasn’t as much of a prediction as plea for it not to happen. I guess considering how it turned out, I would so rather have Eddie Murphy do it than Ben Stiller.
Yesterday ABC and AMPAS announced that Don Mischner and Brett Ratner will be producing the Oscars and today I am praying that the director of Tower Heist does not have one or both of his stars from the movie hosting the Academy Awards in 2012. I know it would be dream for AMPAS to have Zoolander host, but I don’t find him funny and always thought his bits on past shows were too long and mean. When it comes to Dr Doolittle if it was the ’80s he would be great, but he lost his way somewhere in the ’90s.
I mean haven’t we suffered enough over the last few Oscars with the bad choice of hosts? Even James Franco admits he was bad choice.
So Brett, I am on my knees begging you now to go over to Billy Crystal’s house and do the same. We the fans of movies need a person who will make us laugh throughout the whole drawn out telecast and not a person that will make us want to change the channels. BTW I have said this before and I will say it again, doesn’t Tower Heist look like pure unfunny crap?
Ben Stiller and Eddie Murphy have teamed up for the upcoming movie Tower Heist and I want to know what they had on Alan Alda to get him to do this movie that will dominate the Razzies? Is Alda that desperate for money he would do a film even though it stars those two? Seriously when was the last time they did a good movie that did well at the Box Office? And I don’t think this film is going to be any different for Stiller and Murphy after watching the trailer. Seriously doesn’t that look painfully bad?
Is Eddie Murphy going for the Oscar, because he is re-teaming with Dreamgirls Bill Condon to play his idol Richard Pryor according to Hollywood Insider. But don’t get too upset just yet because as of now no studio has picked up the movie and Condon is shopping it around.
But I am sure it will get the green light. So if it does can you see Eddie doing the role after watching his impression of him in the movie Raw? I didn’t really see Richard Pryor when he did that funny bit, but then again that was 20 years ago maybe he has perfected it by now?
