Dolly Parton’s song Coat of Many Colors became a hit Christmas movie on NBC, and now Netflix wants to do the same with eight of her songs.
The singer described the anthology as, “As a songwriter, I have always enjoyed telling stories through my music. I am thrilled to be bringing some of my favorite songs to life with Netflix.” Then she added, “We hope our show will inspire and entertain families and folks of all generations, and I want to thank the good folks at Netflix and Warner Bros. TV for their incredible support.”
We do not know what those eight tunes will be, and she has a huge catalog of singles to choose from. Since her career has spanned over 50 years (not that it shows because she looks better now than she has in the past) and the one I want most is PMS Blues. But I am a woman who can totally relate to it, especially once a month.
Which of her eight songs do you want to see go from the record player to the little screen?
Dolly Parton was photographed teaching an exercise class at a senior activity center, so is the singer working there now? Nope, she was there for their renaming ceremony to My People Senior Activity that was dedicated to her parents Lee and Avie Lee Parton. The rebranding is so that people will not confuse with the medical facilities in the area.
The 72-year-old told the other seniors that keeping busy and a good attitude keeps her acting so young. Which is what they are doing by going out and be active at this center.
Before Ron Livingston starred in Office Space, he was invading Dolly Parton’s personal space in Straight Talk. How naughty and cute was the 24-year-old making his debut in that 1992 film?
To hear him talk about his first acting role, listen to him straight talk about it on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen yesterday.
Yesterday, Adele posted a photo of herself dressed up as a Dolly Parton and said, “The effortless queen of song, Dolly Parton! We love you! We wish We could possess an ounce of your ability. You were the hero of our night! A hero of my life. I’ll always love you x.”
Today, Miss Parton posted a video response to Adele and it is perfect. She said, “Hey Adele, likes me. I was knocked out, I was so honored. I was so flattered. I loved your outfit, I thought that was great. I think I had an outfit just like that back in the day – in fact, I thought that was a picture of me back in the day.” Then the Country legend added, “I was really touched with what you said, I was really honored that you would even know me that well or like my music. So I just wanted to thank you and say you’re making me look good. So if I can have just a fraction of your fans, that’d help me, help me buy some cheaper wigs and some more clothes. Some more things. I’m gonna dress like you next time. I love you.”
Someone needs to have Adele’s people call Dolly’s so that these two ladies can meet and gush all over each other. That and record a duet together. Since Kenny Rogers is retired, the two of them can do Islands in the Stream together. It would sweep the Grammys next year! Would you buy the instant hit?
Seriously, can you picture Adele meeting Dolly? She would be all fan girling and start crying. It will be the sweetest thing and it is what we all need to bring such much needed joy back into the world.
Adele is such a big fan of Dolly Parton, that she is quickly morphing into the Country artist. The British singer put on a blonde wig, a pants suit with fake boobs (gotta love that it comes with the extra padding) and a guitar and with that the brunette became a yellow rose. The only thing we do not know is if she can sing like her idol. Therefore, I want to hear Adele belt put PMS Blues because that would so be up her alley. I think she can nail that and any one of Parton’s tunes and vice versa.
