The Cool Kids is highlarious, Doom Patrol is theraputic
March 29th, 2019 under David Alan Grier, Leslie Jordan, Vicki Lawrence. [ Comments: none ]

Tonight’s episode of The Cool Kids on Fox at 8:30p is the show’s best one yet. And there have been plenty of greats ones.

Sid’s (Leslie Jordan) ex-wife (Jennifer Coolidge) comes to visit him and to meet his new boyfriend John (Jere Burns). Is she bitter that he lied to her during all of those years they were married?

Then Margaret (Vicki Lawrence) and Charlie (Martin Mull) are all excited to see Fleetwood Mac, but Hank (David Alan Grier) has the keys to the van. He wants to go to Costco, and nothing will stop him. Therefore, if they agree to go to Costco with him, he will take them to the concert. But there are rules, so many rules. Good thing Charlie has a bag full of edible Gummy Bears. Now you know why I said this episode is highlarious!

Over on DC Universe, Doom Patrol is back with another super episode.

The episode starts out with Cliff (Brendan Fraser) still messed up after finding out what is up with his daughter now. Therefore, he is still very upset about that and that is making him crazy. Cyborg (Joivan Wade) decides to help him and holds a group therapy session with all of the Doom Patrol members.

What does therapy start with? Your childhood! In this episode, we get to see what they were all like as children and how it shaped them to become the adults that they are today. We also learn what year they were kids and that gives us more of a perspective of how old they are.

Not only that, they all have major breakthroughs. What and how it will change them? Well, you just have to watch and see in the best superhero show on television. This is not like all those other Marvel and DC shows, it is so much better.

David Alan Grier thought no one would watch Seinfeld and Ace Ventura
January 28th, 2019 under David Alan Grier, Howard Stern. [ Comments: none ]

Many actors have turned down roles they have regretted. Others have auditioned for parts for things they never thought would see the light of day and they became huge hits. David Alan Grier has experienced both.

Back when he was working on In Living Color, Jim Carrey asked him to co-star in his little movie called Ace Ventura: Pet Detective and he turned it down. A short time later, he went to the premiere and watch the comedy next to his friend. Afterward, DAG thought no one is going to see this because it was just too crazy. Even Chris Rock agreed with him. As we know, both of them were way off.

That was not the only time he was way off. Grier told Howard Stern today, that he also auditioned for Seinfeld. During the tryout, he “thought this show is going to suck.” Thus, he did not care if he got the role of George Costanza that eventually went to Jason Alexander.

Once again he was wrong. One role he was right not to say no to was The Carmichael Show. One of the greatest shows ever to grace our televisions.

Imagine how different Grier’s career would have been if he did not turn down or laugh off all of these roles. Considering none of the stars of those projects did Dancing with the Stars, I think we have our answer.

BTW I wonder how he felt when he auditioned for his current show The Cool Kids. Which I like even though it had a really bad pilot.

David Alan Grier nails Ben Carson!

Jimmy Fallon dressed up as Donald Trump again yesterday on The Tonight Show and this time he had a special guest help him out. That special guest is David Alan Grier and he played Ben Carson. The two of them were on the phone watching the Democratic Debate and they made jokes about all of the people running against them. They even made fun of the people they were portraying. The Cowardly Lion was so good at playing Carson, I fell asleep watching this bit at least 6 times.
So lie back and watch and nap and then watch as the two of them sat some hysterical things about the jokes who are running for President.

BTWF roles: David Alan Grier in Beer
August 26th, 2015 under Before They Were Famous, David Alan Grier. [ Comments: none ]

Before David Alan Grier was cast as the Cowardly Lion in The Wiz: Live, he bravely prevented a robbery in Beer. He looks the same now as he did when he was 29 in that 1985 movie.
