Before everyone was stuck at home, Quibi announced that they are bringing back Reno911. Today, they released the first trailer for the revival that begins streaming daily on May 4th. It is like no time has passed since they left the force in 2009.
However, it has. Since then, Thomas Lennon, Wendi McLendon-Covey, Niecy Nash, Cedric Yarbrough, and so many more others from the sitcom have become big names of their own shows. Yet, when they are together, they are just the way they were, the most dysfunctional police force in the world. That is why we love them so much and are so happy they are back.
Comedy Central announced today that Quibi picked up Reno 911 for a seventh season, 10 years after the show ended its run. Robert Ben Garant, Kerri Kenney-Silver and Thomas Lennon will all write and star in the series but what about the rest of the original cast like Cedric Yarbrough and Niecy Nash? Wendi McLendon-Covey, who is also original, wrote that “the whole original cast will be involved.”
The Goldbergs actress also says she thinks the show will return in April. Since she and Yarbrough (Carol’s Second Act) are both currently working on broadcast sitcoms, I wonder how they will have the time to film new episodes. We will find out soon enough, along with all the other details.
While I never got into the show, I know so many people who are so excited about it coming back. Are you one of them?
Tomorrow night at 9:30p, Carol’s Second Act has a bunch of arfdorable guest stars. That is because the human hospital is allowing therapy dogs in to help take care of the sick patients.
It looks like Patricia Heaton, Jean-Luc Bilodeau, Sabrina Jalees, Lucas Neff, Cedric Yarbrough, and Kyle MacLachlan are having a lot of fun with their co-stars. Can you blame them, look at the sweet faces!
Back to the CBS sitcom, you should definitely check it out. It is my favorite new show of the year and gets better with each episode. And I am not saying that because they are getting taken over by dogs tomorrow. I really enjoy perky Heaton as compared to the grumpy one. Well, that and it makes me LOL every Thursday night. I will never understand why CBS didn’t schedule it after Young Sheldon as compared to that unfunny sitcom. It is a much better fit with the Lorre show. However, that is a post on its own, and I don’t want to get barking mad over it.
Before Cedric Yarbrough was a ladies’ man on Speechless, he was settling down with his perfect woman on The Bernie Mac Show. Even when he was 31, he knew how to steal the scene in that 2005 episode. That and what sexy legs he has.
Yarbrough wrote this about filming that 2005 episode, “Goals of this scene: 1) Show how little Jordan hates Monroe. 2) Let Cedric just improvise the whole scene & try to crack Bernie. I got ‘em after the 1st yodel. Man, to make #BernieMac genuinely laugh, someone who had made millions of people gut-bustingly laugh for many years, including me, you feel like you won. Shout out to lil #JeremySuarez for being such a hater. & yes, there’s something wrong with me. #TheBernieMacShow #Improv #improvcomedy #ripberniemac #countrymusicsucks #legs”
Side note: I still miss Bernie Mac. He will always be one of the nicest people I ever interviewed. And I am also still pissed that ABC cancelled Speechless. However, I doubt Yarbrough will be showless for a long time.

ABC is airing two episodes of Speechless tonight starting at 8p and it is twice the joy!
For the first episode, Maya (Minnie Driver) gets jury duty. While you and I would hate it, she is so excited for the opportunity. Why? Because she gets away from her family, of course. Only problem, her arch nemeses (Sarah Chalke) also got picked. Now the two of them try to get the judge to dismiss the other one. He decides to keep them both on the jury. What happens next? You have to see it to believe it.
JJ (Micah Fowler) meanwhile, decides to try dating. He sets up dates at a coffee shop and he has Kenneth (Cedric Yarbrough) help him out if needed. They come up with a plan that if he does not like the girl, he will toss his coffee to the ground. How many coffees get tossed the ground?
Finally, Ray (Mason Cook) feels that is father (John Ross Bowie) is spending more time with Dylan (Kyla Kenedy) than him. Therefore, he tries to come up with new ways to win back his father’s love. Will it work?
Then at 8:30p, JJ gets to direct his first movie at school. Everyone has an opinion and his movie goes to hell. Will he get his horror movie back on track? Especially since Ray thinks being in the movie will help win Taylor back.
Dylan meanwhile finds out a secret about her mom when she watches a tape that she thinks is her parents wedding video. Why was her mom wearing a wedding dress for a man Dylan doesn’t know? Maya will do anything and everything to keep her secret. And I mean that.
Finally, Jimmy helps out his neighbor who is renovating his house. It all works well until it doesn’t. And when it doesn’t, it goes really bad. Really, really bad.
But what goes really, really good is these two episodes of Speechless. I love this show so much because not only is it funny, it helps to normalize cerebral palsy. Something that is so important for television do and they do it right.
